I guess this is something I just don't understand. Once I've left people, I leave them. Some have still had "lesson" effects like trust issues or social effects like loss of some mutual friends(until she was exposed as a fraud and a psycho... long story). But I realized that the emotional pain I had from them was actually anger with myself for allowing it to transpire. Once I fixed me, the hurt went away. Plenty of anger left, but the pain was gone. Private parties have the same type of things going on. The ones my friend works at are typically publicly accessible for people in "scenes." It's not making anything up. An impartial set of equations runs against existing data to fill in gaps. There's no data supplied manually. When you're dealing with thousands of people and following them for years, there is no way to get a perfect data set. Does that render EVERY long term study of large groups "pseudoscience?"

Physiscists can get complete data(excluding theoretical). It doesn't rely on large numbers of people adhering to locations, rules, and schedules. Just experiment and observation. Statistical proofs have different standards and practices where the compilation of a full data set is unrealistic. They also have established accepted practices for extrapolation.

You can certainly have a genetic predisposition to retaining fats or enjoyment/dislike of certain foods but it always comes down to intake versus expenditure of calories for weight gain. Other factors like propensity to gain lean muscle can be genetic factors but it's always the person eating more than they burn that causes excess.
