It’s not at all bad to feel relieved. She abused you and kept you in harms way—the opposite of what a parent should do. Glad you’re getting help! If it ever gets bad they have some great over the phone therapy.

I’m in my 30s and teach college students. Based on how some of these kids look at me I don’t think they think I’ve hit a wall (I’m not even that good-looking).

Honestly, 95% of the time I don’t want a relationship. I’m an introvert, I live alone and love it, I have good friends, I am successful in my career, etc. The 5% of times I do want it is when I get food poisoning and I need someone to buy me gatorade and bring me stuff because I’m so weak. But honestly a live-in housekeeper or a roommate could do that, so I don’t think that’s a great basis for a relationship. Hey OP, a couple of things—I am fat and I used to be very fat. I was a vegan for years, then ate 1200 calories/day for years, exercised daily, tried low carb, etc. But I could not keep the weight off.
