There are multiple calculators like this for law school, they are all using basically the same data. Law school admissions are one of the most obvious because there are really only two data points they actually use, LSAT and GPA. Some don't even require essays anymore. It's not negligence though. If you fire a gun into a crowd of people, that's not mere negligence just because you say after the fact you didn't mean to hurt someone. Getting behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler when you have no training and no idea how it works, and then when you get going out of control you decide to ram into stopped traffic rather than hit another truck or a ditch, that's no longer negligence at all. It's intentional, and it's murder.

Also brakes on a truck like this don't just fail. There are multiple redundancies and failsafes. Look on any trucking forum and these guys are not defending him. There were so many things he could have done to prevent this needless loss of life that this is beyond mere negligence.

Bullshit. The brakes did not fail. He failed to understand how the truck operates, and how to operate the brakes, and failed to take advantage of multiple runaway truck ramps or other options. This is so far beyond negligence that it's criminal, which is exactly why he got 110 years.

You're right that the bar is not all that great of a barrier and there are tons of shitty lawyers, but don't fool yourself into thinking that there aren't tons of shitty doctors too. Doctors can go to foreign medical schools, and a law degree is not sufficient to practice law, you have to pass the bar exam. Bottom line, don't trust your doctor or your lawyer, ask questions, probe their knowledge, understand their thought process, and don't accept what they say just because they have a credential…

There’s no reason to do it in the vast majority of boys. It’s a surgery done without anesthesia. Stress hormone levels are raised in response to the barbaric procedure and remain elevated for months. It’s literally a traumatic experience in the first days of the child’s life.
