Most places now a days ask if you have had any DUI's, misdemeanors, etc. From a personal perspective definitely keep looking for jobs before you even get your license back, why? I live in CA and got a DUI when I was 20 about two years ago, I got butt fucked by fines, DUI class, etc. Save up as much money as possible to make sure everything involving money with the courts is 100% current. Also, sorry for poor formatting I am typing with a cast on my hand.

Just because they are BP doesn't mean you should cut them out of your life. If they are friends, and can bring some form of value from that friendship, they are just stuck in their original programming. IMO in time when they see you start growing, and becoming more successful as a man, they could become more willing to break out of societies hold on them, and you'll be in a position to help them.
