Online versus Real LifeYeah online is very different. Sorry to hear about your negative experiences, we all have them. There are lots of people in this world who are bad or malicious, and it certainly seeps online. The source of a lot of problems online can probably be analyzed best through the absence of tone. Words online hold little meaning, they are easy to twist and misinterpret with your own personal biases or understanding of a situation. You have no idea the intention of the person on the other end of the scre… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 08/02/25 10:47 PM
Online versus Real LifeI think it's pretty easy to look back on big events and try and understand how they happened and what it says about society as a whole. For Trump's 2016 win, I think it is fairly obvious that it was a lot more than online climate. While "SJWs," "woke liberals," and "feminists" were common buzzwords and talking points throughout the election cycle, there were a lot more gears at play. Trumps predecessor, Obama, arguably went against his progressive vision of the country in favor of neoliberal pol… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 08/02/25 03:36 AM
I talked to the DEI officers at work about men's issues - Part 2Incredible stuff. Please do make more posts explaining what happens in the future meetings. I like to see the different perspectives take place and how things unfold in real time | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 05/02/25 11:38 PM
"Emotional Labor" discussion tool.Yeah, I don't understand why this happens. I do things when they need to be done. Then some women will think "oh my I feel like I to do something incredibly difficult. I will communicate this to nobody and build up resentment. Because I thought of this, it is now my responsibility and it will weigh on me." It seems rather ridiculous. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 05/02/25 04:10 PM
Debunking the "gender pay gap" mythwhy are you responding to a 2 month old post? Feels like bait. But I don't think you understood what I said, I'd advise rereading it. In order to understand the pay gap, you need to, first, understand how averages work. It isn't exactly a relevant statistic, in my opinion, especially because of how much personal choice is involved. Ultimately, the problem is capitalism and nothing more. There's not some inherently sexist machination within (western) society that advocates for the detriment of wo… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 30/01/25 05:12 PM
This is disappointing to read:This is why I stay off of dating apps. I've found most people are "disinterested texters," in that they just want you to carry it. If you text, it should always be actionable or a short quip of expression. Having casual conversation is best done through a phone call or in person. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 09/01/25 08:24 PM
This is disappointing to read:Comment sections are hostile places, especially around politics. It's filled with bots, children, boomers, or otherwise weird individuals. There are rarely good faith, productive conversations that happen. In cases like the one provided, the commenter is effectively the product of terminally online echo chambers that operate with a misandrist worldview. Overall, I wouldn't pay it any mind. To answer the question, however, the commenter is technically right that a previous men's movement known as… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 09/01/25 07:32 PM
Position on Child Support?I agree with all of this It's difficult to understand how this isn't the norm. I think somewhere in Europe (Denmark or the Netherlands maybe) there is some form of allowed paper abortion. I think it is ridiculous that this is not the common leftist stance on abortion as a whole. Egalitarianism can only be achieved if everyone is equal, and any inherent inequality (whether it be systemic or social) ought to be questioned. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 28/12/24 01:40 AM
Genuinely curious about itExactly. A man CEO is not a win for men, they are still ultimately a CEO that extracts the labor from employees. It's striking how supposed left-wing, socialist feminists harp on statistics related to our economic structure and cite it as a disadvantage towards women as a collective. The average person will never be a CEO, or even wealthy for that matter, it's almost irrelevant to consider. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 25/12/24 06:18 PM
An insightful comment on the man v bear debateBit late to this, but I really like this point. People try to validate the fears of women, but fail to realize that fear can go both ways. Nobody wants to be alone, at night, in a parking garage. The problem is people do not realize that fear is not exclusive to gender---and men are equally validated in their fears. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 25/12/24 01:04 AM
Men “acting hard” instead of showing solidarityI don't think you can create a causative link between men caring and subreddit population. Everyone is victim of what media they are delivered online. The world is ran by algorithms that the far-right regularly taxes advantage of to promote their ideologies. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 29/11/24 04:12 PM
Language regarding men. It's just age old hypocrisy. Replace any of those generalizations with "black people" and the tone dramatically shifts. It's easy to demonize when nobody is there to advocate on your behalf. Progressives should never be pushing anyone down, but rather lifting everyone up equally. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 27/11/24 02:38 PM
Which of these men's issues are most important to you?Economic Issues / Capitalism for me because Capitalism is ultimately the greatest form of oppression. In terms of equality within capitalism, I'd say Social Issues / Gender Roles because men have a few inequalities in comparison to women: the draft, forced parenthood and many social expectations that make horrific assumptions about the nature and status of men. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 24/11/24 08:57 PM
On the feminist usage of statistics to generalize and create a caricature of menNot sure I entirely agree with this analysis. The patriarchy, at this point, is just a term to describe anything bad. It's almost entirely void of meaning. Feminists didn’t create these stereotypes of men and women and women probably use statistics because when they tried sharing their personal experiences, they were treated like liars and fakers. You are experiencing the same thing women face when they try to report discrimination and harassment You first say that "feminists didn't create these… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 23/11/24 04:53 PM
Debunking the "gender pay gap" myth1st message: Diversity does make team better, I agree as stated in my original response when I . I didn't mention STEM jobs, so I'm assuming you mentioned it to contrast it with HEAL jobs. Anyway, men not entering HEAL jobs, as you said, will not, then, result in more unemployment for men as manufacturing jobs become less available. It's such a weird correlation that is barely relevant. As manufacturing jobs become less available, alternative jobs become available. Small shifts like this happen … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 22/11/24 11:05 PM
Debunking the "gender pay gap" mythPersonally, I don't see a point in having programs that encourage men and women to pursue different fields. Society is a bit more complicated than that. The reason that men are more likely to choose x fields, while women are more likely to choose y fields is not entirely because of a lack of information and or access. College educated men and women make the individual decision to choose the path they wish. If women, on average, tend to prefer healthcare, I don't see why anything really needs to … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 22/11/24 10:07 PM
Debunking the "gender pay gap" mythWhere I stand with the wage gap is that it exists, but there isn't exactly anything that can be done with it on a macro level. If there are payment discrepancies a single business between men and women working the same hours, naturally that should be fixed. Though the massive societal structures that govern the individual decisions made by women are not things that can be easily moved. Ultimately, the problem is capitalism and not patriarchy. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 22/11/24 09:03 PM
On the feminist usage of statistics to generalize and create a caricature of menYes I agree. Statistics are easy to manipulate in the favor of anyone. When you are analyzing statistics with the preconceived notion that men are evil, then it's easy to find information that can "back it up." If you want to objectively analyze statistics, however, then it's more multifaceted. Crime doesn't happen in a bubble, and in my opinion it is largely the result of capitalism. Feminists try to find reasons within a capitalistic society that links men to crime. The reason why (violent) cr… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 22/11/24 08:58 PM
