Thank you. Knowing that it will be hard somehow makes it easier to bear.

I am lucky to still have a job in these times. I am financially independent and am able to provide for myself. I am so fortunate to have many friends and family who haven’t given up on me who have been checking in on me every day, sometimes multiple times a day. I am so, so, so grateful. You are right; the things I left there are of minimal value and don’t matter more than my well-being. Thank you for the reminder.

He is very good looking and women are always coming up to him. But you are right that it is very fast.

Thank you for writing. It does feel like an uphill battle to make things work a lot of the time. It doesn’t help that I am often really tired from work.

Thank you for your input. I keep blaming myself for this situation. Like if I were a better partner or prettier or kinder I could make this work.

I don’t know that he realized it was a dream. I went back and read the context and the surrounding paragraphs seemed fairly ridiculous. But maybe he only read that part.

Thank you for your words. I really appreciate your perspective. You’re right that it is like I am replaceable to him and that he is not serious about this relationship. I am having a hard time coming to grips with this — I keep hoping that if I try harder, be a better partner, will things work out?

I don’t know if he knew it was a dream. But even when I explained it to him he didn’t seem inclined to change his mind much.

Thank you for your input. When you put it like that, I feel conflicted. I want to keep this relationship going and feel like I have to prove that I am a good partner by cooking.

Thanks for your insight. He is excellent at communicating which is one of the things I find attractive about him. I appreciate your point about short term punishment/long term favors.

We are in a committed and monogamous relationship and not seeing other people.

We are in a monogamous sexual relationship. He has expressed to me before that this is a type of punishment.

I do not feel ethically/morally ok with enacting punishment on others like that. But thank you for pointing out that I am rewarding this behavior.

I think that at the beginning of our relationship, this is what he would do. When I did something that upset him, he would withdraw. He expressed it as a form of punishment. After we talked about it, he did change this behavior, which I was very appreciative of. I am disappointed that he has gone back to that again.

Thank you for your reply. I do often think back and try to figure out what went wrong. I often have a hard time identifying the behavior. When he tells me sometimes I feel it is reasonable. Other times I disagree and wonder why he is so upset over such a small thing. I try very hard to accommodate him and avoid things that might upset him.
