Iowa, 3500 to start but as of now it stands uncontested, costs could sky rocket if she fights it

Nevermind I read that article and pretty much answered my own question, I continued to work under modified duty and received my regular checks while I was "out of work" so I won't be getting any loss of wages payments but this is a "hey sorry you're disabled forever, have some money"

And I suppose this is a follow-up, I've been told how much I'm getting, however it's going to be paid out in installments, do you think I'd be liable for the whole amount or just what I've been paid out?

Also planning on renting out one of the bedrooms in the house so I won't have to deal with all the financial burden of everything.

6 years ago, state is Iowa, and wouldn't her portion of the equity be 20k? I feel like maybe a home equity loan may be the way to go and cut the loss of 12k out of the 401k

I should also mention I'm intending on keeping the house so I will have to pay out her equity
