This was exactly the comment I was going to post. Straight up!

Deed or no deed, it’s a HELL NO. The ‘D’ papers awarded you the house and as an accommodation, provisioned you one year to buy her out. It is not her house anymore. I was in a similar situation last year and there was absolutely no way I was letting my ex into my house. Set your boundaries and stick to them. Probably time to gray-rock her.

And, don’t tell the kids anymore than they need to know either.

OP: Please seek therapy. Don’t let her current life disrupt or distract yours. (She’s not worth it.)

That’s right. Like I have often said, having a kid isn’t like buying a pair of shoes. You can’t take ‘em back.

TRUTH. It was difficult cutting my abusive ex loose, but it was absolutely the correct decision for me and my kid.

Go somewhere neutral. Away from your shared home, go alone (get granny or a sitter to watch the baby), and just calmly talk to one another. You both may find that you’ve just fallen out of touch. As your family has grown to include a baby, you’ve got to find a “new normal”. Work on yourselves together and apart. Will it be easy? Most likely not, but do you think a divorce will be easy?

And, for sure don’t get married again. Just live together.
/r/Divorce_Men05/01/24 08:22 AM

And, consult with an accountant preferably one experienced in family matters about filing your 2023 tax return. You might want to do Married Filing Separately. Your lawyer can help too. Good luck.

And, don’t make any offers, promises or agreements for anything. If you are considering or contemplating any of this, write it down and only share it with your lawyer. Grey rock as much as possible.

Can you say this a little louder to make sure people in the back of the room heard you? Very important.

I don’t have much advice for you, bro. I came here to say that I’m sorry for what you (and your wife, and family) are going through. I hope everything works out for the best for everyone.

Great for you and the kids! Your happiness rings loud in your post, bro! Carry on… Enjoy those kids and your life in general.

GTFO and don’t look back. For all that she has done or said, her opinion holds no value. Do not dwell on what she has said about you. Clearly, she is very immature, uncaring, and shallow. It sounds like you have 3 great kids and a lot that can be attributed to how you’ve loved and cared for them. It is time for YOU now. Make peace with yourself that you are a great man who deserves better.

As they say… “You can’t fix stupid”. Bro… Your future is looking brighter and brighter… Lawyer up ASAP if you haven’t already, especially while she’s in this gaga phase with Mr. Government. And, how ironic is it that you said he’s the head clown of the “Oversight” Committee!!

Everyone’s story is different. It’s good to hear from someone who knows who he was and who he wants to be/is. You really seem able to appreciate all the things that have worked out in your favor and not let your divorce define you. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Cheers to you bro!

Was it part of the settlement? If it was previously agreed upon to wait until he is 18 years old, no. Do you have anything in writing?

Unless you are the owner of the bank account, you cannot verify it. Zelle payments (unlike Venmo, Apple, or PayPal {who owns Venmo}), are strictly bank-to-bank payments.

Is there a legal order that you must have your DD tested? No? Then, you don’t have to. Do you have a custodial order? Yes? Then, XW cannot withhold DD from you. If she’s that adamant about it, why doesn’t she take the LO for the allergy testing? XW cannot control you any more. Don’t cave.

This is a pay-it-forward suggestion. Bruce Fisher (author) Rebuilding: When Your Relationship Ends I found it helpful. Someone bought it for me and I’ve been trying to pass along the favor.

Select carefully. There are women out there looking for the same. They are divorced, craving a sex life, but never, ever want to marry again. Good luck bro.

Feel for you, bro. All of the other advice here is solid, just also make sure your daughter isn’t in the middle. Obviously, you can’t control your stbxw, but don’t let DD (true acronym) hear you speak about ex.
/r/Divorce_Men25/03/22 12:51 PM

Agree here. Especially emphasizing the part about putting your emotions aside — this is ultra-important when dealing with your attorney. You need to focus his/her billed time on working for your best outcome. Seek out therapy to help with the emotional side. Having a difficult time interacting with your stbxw? Try Grey Rock (google it). Take the emotions out and consider everything as a transactional business exchange. Stay tough bro. It’s not easy but you’ve got to look out for #1. The stronger…

It took me awhile to heal, not necessarily because I was still pining for my ex, b/c ex was a narcissist who financially ruined me and emotionally tormented me. I missed the ideation of being a family unit with our kid. My kid took it hard of the “family” breaking up. Divorce, like bereavement, can take on many different aspects and there’s no one right way to heal from it. Don’t beat yourself up. Learn new routines of how you once did things before. Now that most of the pandemic is over, look i…

My ex is a narcissist of the worst kind. Financially ruined me and emotionally abused me. I’ll never forget hearing the words “You don’t have the balls to leave”…well, it was (almost to the day) exactly a year later when I did exactly that…kicked ‘em to the curb. OP — You got this. As a friend of mine in the past would say: “There are worse things than being single.” True story.

Also, it’s nobody else’s business who initiated the divorce. In my situation, I did, and it was not only needed, but long overdue. Yet, it didn’t necessarily make things easier. JADE. You do not need to: Justify Argue Defend Explain yourself to anyone.

She can “be the one” all day long. That won’t stop you from loving her, but what advantage do you get with a piece of paper saying you’re married? (BTW, there’s nothing that rules out wearing each other’s ring.). You can get POAs, put each other in your wills, etc. Think on it.

How in the world does this have any benefit for OP? Does this improve his life in any way? It’s a pure WOT. Ex’s BF Is a grown man (one should hope) and can figure this out on his own. This whole situation is rather sus. OP is not Ex’s father, why is she looking for “approval” from OP to remarry?

Don’t forget to change the locks and update any passwords on common devices (e.g., home network, alarm system, garage opener, etc.) Also, if you haven’t already, change the bills (utilities, toll passes, etc.) to your name. Also, check medical records, place of employment, etc. for who your “Who to Contact in case of Emergency” and replace it if needed. Congrats! Well done! Jealous of being able to divorce in only 3 months. May the rest of your life be happy, healthy, and on your terms!!

I feel ya, bro. It’s not so much that’s she’s dating as it’s too soon for her to introduce new BF to the kids. And, I get your rant b/c there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.

Book (available on “Amzn”): Rebuilding After Your Relationship Ends It goes through all of the emotions. All of your feelings are valid. Retain a good lawyer, follow their instructions. Stop talking to your SBX, Grey Rock if you need to.
