Thanks for the reply! And thanks for the tips. I'm in therapy, and I've only drank when I was in a situation with a high pressure to drink with friends (which has been a few times a year). Alcohol doesn't really appeal much to me (I'm a “be in control” junkie, being drunk is losing control, so I feel anxiety before parties where I know they expect me to drink), and will never do drugs. Quick question for anyone who can answer. I had an abusive childhood and it is a source of much shame for me because I believe that I can't ever be a perfect, or even good, life partner with that background. Even if I am over it, it will still be a fact that my story can be bleak and unappealing. I read the article and my heart broke because I know I could not answer the questions about my upbringing.
