I came across this piece by a therapist who says that women with good, kind husbands are leaving them for "macho bad boys". She has penned another article about how women, even feminists, desire to be dominated by a big, strong man. Of course, men fantasize and cheat as well, but that is almost always because they just want to have sex with a better-looking woman. In this case, the women are more sexually attracted to men with dangerous and dominant personalities. Think about it this way: porn i…

I think it is important to assess the range of results that may be brought about by a given action or lack thereof. If there were a study proving that eating a certain food was linked to weight gain, would you not take that into consideration if trying to lose weight? If I meet a woman and she digs who I am, awesome. If she doesn’t, then guess what? It is more nuanced than that. Based on the research I have seen, a "nice guy" will be sexually unattractive but could be perceived as a good boyfrie…

Well, anecdotal evidence can only tell us so much. In my anecdotal experience, women do like bad boys (even well-educated liberal women). However, it would be silly to generalize my limited experience, especially since other people will have different experiences. In assessing the veracity of TRP, studies are much better than personal anecdotes. Specifically, studies indicate that women are attracted to masculine features but are reluctant to date masculine men. This means that if a man tries to…

Then why are muscular men rated low as potential long-term partners?

No romance protagonist ends up with an asshole? That is not the point. They want the asshole. They find the asshole more sexually attractive. They have to resist their sexuality in order to date the nice guy. In other words, women only date nice guys after being screwed over by the assholes too many times. Again, this is based on the evidence you provided. Again you link to a woman dating a nice man. Who bores her in bed so she teaches him to act like an asshole. I prefer fries to salad, but fri…

I looked up Jane Green and this is what I read about her novel Straight Talking: Shortly thereafter Tasha is invited to dinner once more with Adam, who reveals his true feelings for her. Tasha is taken aback and does not know how to respond. She feels that, though she "loves" Adam, she is not "in love" with him. Immediately, she seeks the counsel of her girlfriends. The advice is, as always, mixed: Some support the idea that she should try to have a romantic relationship with Adam, who has alway…

I think you actually hit on the entire point of RedPill; women are sexually and carnally attracted to men who have the very qualities which make them bad partners. I like fries, but I know they are bad for me so I eat salad. If somebody were to assume that what I eat is reflective of what I like, they would be wrong. Fantasies do not exist in a vacuum. A man may fantasize about having sex with his secretary. He may avoid doing it because he wants to be faithful to his wife, but he would not be f…

Marta Meana, a researcher at the University of Nevada, has argued provocatively that the organizing principle of female sexuality is the desire to be desired. In her view, the delicate, tentative guy who politely thinks about you and asks if this is okay or that is okay is a guy who may meet the expectations of your gender politics (treats me as an equal; is respectful of me; communicates with me) and your parents’ preferences, but he may also put you into a sexual coma—not despite these qualiti…

So do you have any idea why it may be?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/21 07:43 PM

Sure, but I don't see how that is relevant. This is not so much about choosing STRs over LTRs (or vice versa) but preferring a certain set of traits for one and the opposite for the other.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/07/21 03:11 PM

What gets me is they've not done much in the way of studies on women who have Madonna-Whore complexes, they only have done the studies on men. I have not seen any studies like that about men. Could you link some?

I did see your post and found it very interesting. From what I had read, it was addressing studies that indicated that women's attraction to masculine features is manipulated by ovulation. I am asking about women preferring masculine traits for short-term relationships but disliking them for long-term relationships.

My assumption is that muscular men have more testosterone, which makes them more aggressive and volatile. The fact that they are associated with these traits makes them sexy to women, but also impractical for the long term. Can you think of an alternative explanation for why women would rate muscular men as more attractive than normal men for flings but lower than normal men as potential partners?

Society and culture are not fixed things that exist in ether and are just foisted upon us. Culture is a reflection of people; we all participate and contribute to our culture. Engaging in culture is just as part of our biology as anything else. Humans are not blank states. Language is incredibly different across cultures, but we are able to learn it due to innate understandings of syntax and grammar. Muscular men have more testosterone, which makes them more aggressive and volatile. The fact tha…

As my post shows, women associate muscularity with volatility and aggression. Whilst they prefer muscular men for casual flings, they do not prefer them for long-term relationships. If women did not associate muscularity with "bad boy" traits, why would they rank them lower for long-term relationships?

I'm going to focus on this one, because what the fuck? Why would muscularity be a signal of "badness"? As my post shows, women associate muscularity with volatility and aggression. Whilst they prefer muscular men for casual flings, they do not prefer them for long-term relationships. If women did not associate muscularity with "bad boy" traits, why would they rank them lower for long-term relationships? But there are plenty of erotic novels for women featuring all kinds of things you don't seem …

They did a study on women that sent love letters to guys like him, and out of over 300 every single one of them had endured years of childhood sexual abuse. That sounds interesting. Where did you read that?

A cheerleader is also going to get more attention than a nerdy girl. Women who want to attract men will also hit the gym.

Also, note that the women on this thread do agree with what I said in the post. None of them have said they are not attracted to these men.

I think it is comparable to eating junk food; people do not like it because it is unhealthy junk food, but the qualities that make it unhealthy (salt and fat) also increase people's cravings. Ditto for cigarettes.

Is there any science contradicting the viewpoint that straight women are by and large attracted to the described traits?

Well not everybody is Christian but virtually everybody has romantic and sexual feelings (asexuals notwithstanding). So even then, it seems that women with romantic and sexual desires still prefer bad boys. Women found Pratt much more attractive when he was muscular than when he had an average body. No healthy person reads "The Unstable Stable Boy of Longstaff" and says "Oh hell yes I want to be in a relationship with that person." It's just a fantasy. I do not disagree, but fantasies are not so…

The mean age of the group is 19 years I am assuming your point is that young women are more likely to be attracted to bad boys as they are not looking to settle down. That is part of my point; I may prefer fries, but I will eat salad when I want to lose weight. I still like fries. I posted large review from 2020 yesterday that pointed out this kind of research on the dual mating hypothesis and particularly ovulation's relationship to the dual mating hypothesis has not held up to replication: I w…

Yes, I pointed that out: "Of course, just because a woman fantasizes about cheating does not mean she will. However, this post is about desires, not actions. A man who fantasizes about seducing his secretary may still remain faithful to his wife. However, if he were not attracted to his secretary he’d never fantasize about her."
