You might want to expand your thinking. If you can learn to find something of value in everything you do or try, such that you're willing to try anything once, you have a huge leg up. As someone who constantly uses tactics like these...it is incredibly effective. My girlfriend sees people that I randomly start conversations with constantly bend over backwards for me for no reason.
