Here's some criticism: your writing is hard to read. You are almost certainly on a device that can help you with spelling and grammar. Use it.

This is AI slop. Don't waste our time with a wall of text you didn't even write.

I haven’t had T checked. I don’t know how to do it. Go to your doctor: "I want to have my T checked".

No judge would grant that long of a term unless there was evidence. That's not how family court works. The judge just has to "feel" that's the correct course of option. The man is free to appeal, but of course it will require more money and time just to get what he should have had all along! Absolutely shameful.

You will ANYWAY so might as well speak your mind. If divorced women were right about men, 95% of them would be narcissists.

My friend, you speak such truths. It is truly sad that there are some men experienced in this.

It's such crap. It's basically saying "I want to leave, but I'm going to keep my partner in the dark until it's the perfect moment to leave and THEN I will tell them". Selfish, immature behavior. Follows the typical trend of failing to take any kind of accountability. No fault divorce has been a disaster for the family unit.

I am dealing with this as well. I see some potential matches in their 30s, but I am finding it hard to risk being in a relationship with someone who is pre-menopausal. It feels like the late 40s-50s women have already gone through that and are in a steady state now.

Women love to put down “fun dads”. It’s a criticism from them. One of the few good things about divorce is you don't have to give a shit what she thinks anymore.

It doesn't matter how much you took care of her. Once they decide they are done, they are done. Sometimes they will make the decision but decide to hang on until things are optimal and then pull the trigger. I would advise you to act as if she will file any day and start making preparations. It's really sad, but the way family courts are set up you as the breadwinner will very rarely come out on top. Don't assume that if you act fairly that the system will treat you fairly. It will not. Good luc…

Just remember you were your own person before her. It takes a while to figure that out again because you got so used to your family "role". One good thing is you will get lots of peace and much, much less female drama. Hang in there, it DOES get easier.

I went through the exact same thing. My ex lied through her teeth and accused me of neglect and a laundry list of other things and also said our child is doing poorly. (she isn't). The judge said that kids need a "home base" and it sounds like it's with Mom. I was given 3 minutes to make my case and that was it. Good luck! I hope they treat you better than me. Same as you, I just wanted to parent my child.

When I realized my ex-wife put zero into the institution of marriage. At that point, there was nothing to wear it for. The thing it symbolized was dead.

To jump in here, if your ex wife offers up a schedule COUNT EVERY HOUR. I accidentally agreed to a schedule that had me on less days and she continued to chip away at the time until it was almost nothing, holding my kid back from me. Then, we get to family court and her lawyer says the child is only happy with Mom. Like other men said, I'm just a wallet. There is nothing fair about family court at all. My ex-wife's lawyer lied through his teeth and there was nothing I can do. It's a shame becaus…

They wanted the benefits with none of the duty. They wanted the things that can be posted to Instagram to impress their "friends". They wanted to avoid any accountability at all. It looks like they got their wish.

They don't want advice... they want confirmation their twisted world view is correct. If women want to go their own way to find their happiness, let them. True happiness comes from the inside. You can never get it from another person or a relationship.

I was the one that filed. My ex-wife had threatened me for MONTHS with divorce and was constantly yelling and fighting. Finally, I got sick of living with divorce hanging over my head so I pulled the trigger myself. She didn't take that well, but life is too short to live your life held hostage. I have no regrets.

I sleep at night knowing she cannot marry or have a live in boyfriend Of course she can. She just has to lie to the court about it, which usually isn't that hard for them to do.

Literally same story from me... was saying 50/50 until she had one too many lonely nights when I had custody. Now she's told the court I am too dangerous to have ANY custody and won't turn my daughter over.

My best advice is to stay active. I'm in pretty good shape for my age at a 4-year-old male. Aren't you a bit young to be dating?

Isn't it funny that they push for kids so hard but then later on it's a life-crushing responsibility. It's like they only wanted a newborn but anything after that is a huge burden.

You're in for a bit of a bad time. Unless she is committing criminal acts (that are also charged), she's going to get 50% custody. The same thing with your income gap. Because you make so much more, they're going to either award her child support, alimony or both in attempt to make things "equal". My advice would be to see which ends first: child support or alimony and then seek the one that involves the least payout. This is highly dependent on your situation. One thing you should brace for is …

Yes, yes it is. Many ex-spouses mentally desert their marriage and "check out" months or even years ahead of telling their spouse. So, it's likely that she DID plan this out in great detail and part of the appeal is looking like a "hero" in front of the therapist. IMHO, she's already gone.

It seems easy to forget sometimes, but the thing your son will value and remember more than parties or anything else is quality time spent with you. It's true you can't do a giant party, but his mom is throwing one for him anyway. Even if you do something one on one with him, he'd probably like that very much. That's a gift no one else can give: quality time with you, his father. Keep your chin up, put your son first and it will all work out. You might not be the new and shiny guy around, but it…

It might not feel like it, but looking in from the outside it sounds like you have things pretty figured out. This is just one more wrinkle you will overcome. One thing to keep in mind that that these boundary violations might be deliberate, trying to get a rise out of you. Keep in mind that non-emergency texts don't need an immediate response. Receive them, take your time to consider and send back the bare minimum. Seeing no reaction from you will make this a dull game for her really quick. Kee…

Good for you, my friend. This shows the power of working patiently, deliberately and logically instead of flying off the handle and having a temper tantrum. Now you're sitting pretty and more financially secure, and she's on her own. In the end, she has no one to blame for her work situation except herself. I suspect that she lacks accountability and will continue to blame external forces for her own failures. Her lack of employment is not your problem. Her lack of money is not your problem. If …

Let me guess, it was your fault she hadn't gotten a job too. It's crazy how much blame is directed at the ex even when your lives are nearly separate. I doubt you were calling "all" the employers around to poison them against her. Sounds like she's just not that useful.

The nice part about divorce is you don't have to consider her feelings. Child support amounts are meant to be set by the conditions on the ground. Whether your conditions have changed or hers have, it doesn't matter. It's time for a second look. I assume you're not reducing the amount to $0 aka "abandoning" your kids and that's just something she said to hurt you. In any event, if her household is really "well off" now, I don't think the kids will be starving. Chivalry is wasted in divorce. Go s…

Once respect is gone it's all over. Take it from me, this level of disrespect towards you can continue indefinitely unless you put and end to it. Best of luck mate. I will say this is very insightful. I wish I had realized this a while ago. Once the respect is gone there is no patching it up.

As a total outsider here is what I see. Like you said, earlier is when she checked out. That's the actual moment your marriage died. At that point she just went into cruise control mode waiting for the optimum time to jump. The reason why she is wishy-washy is because conditions are not quite ready for her to go. If you want my advice, take the lead yourself and pull the trigger. You're probably missing how she used to be instead of how she is now. Sadly, that person is probably gone. It's awful…

Sure, sex is important, but there are 23 hours other hours of the day you have to live with someone, ya know? If you're lucky enough to be having sex for an hour each 24, I suspect you are in the top tier of married couples. There's men out there who are lucky to get something each 24 weeks.

Finding a partner you can spend your life with is wholesome and doesn't require a marriage certificate from the state. If you treat a marriage certificate as pros and cons for the male: What are some of the pros? What are some of the cons? If you sit down and weigh those and it makes sense, by all means, get married. Just hope your partner is as serious about marriage as you are. Many of us agreed "for better or for worse", but when things got tough, the partner uses the ejection seat and we're …

Women want equality. That's fine by me. But until they can maintain the same accountability as men, the system is broken. Women want equality, except when it comes time to be financially responsible. Correction, they call it equality, but in many cases they actually seek superiority. Given your experiences in court and during the divorce, I feel like anyone honest would call that quite an inequal experience. In the "old days" her adultery would have just gotten her tossed out. In these new "no f…

I assume she wants a divorce? She says she doesn't. She wants to live in a holding pattern for the rest of her days. Unless she's critically depressed, then you can say she's quite satisfied with the amount of intimacy you two share. If she respected and loved you, this intimacy would come naturally. Since you have taken it a step further and explained its value to you, that means she either cannot meet your needs and will not meet your needs. If you are happy being celibate the rest of your day…

If you are staying for religious reasons only, I would put some consideration in to how adherent your wife is to the responsibilities that your religion dictates. If you're following the word of the Lord to the letter and she is not, this is a grave mismatch and you should be free to leave her. A vow between two people where only one holds up their end of the bargain is useless.

Got way behind in child support, they suspended my license. Our system is fucked. "Hey, I'm having trouble making my payments." Government: "How about we take your license? That should help you get back on your feet faster!" Absolutely inhuman. Years ago there were problems with deadbeat dads, but now ALL dads suffer. The pendulum has swung too far back and is crushing people. It's so unfortunate how in some of these scenarios you have an ex-husband paying an ex-wife more money than he can actua…

I found this very insightful. I had been kind of living this "life of duty" and your post helps to show how unappreciated that angle is. I guess you're only as good (or bad) as the last thing you did. Like you said, 15 years of breaking your back got you nothing. Who knows, she might even use it to criticize you: "He was never around!" I've heard it said that chivalry is wasted in divorce.

Depending on how aggressively you are pursuing them, this may be true. To hit a home run, you have to get to bat. I will say, if you want to like someone else, it helps to start with yourself. Until you respect and understand yourself it will be hard to add someone new to your life.

If the deed has your name on it—and only your name—you are safe. Unless the court forces you to liquidate to pay her out. She can't take the house outright with this arrangement, but they can try to crush you financially so you HAVE to sell.

She said, very coldly, "I know how to use the phone. I can call someone to do anything you can." This isn't going to be as easy as she thinks it is. One: labor is very expensive these days. It's not uncommon for an electrician to charge $150 just to appear, never mind fix something. Secondly, a lot of household tasks are very minor things but are numerous. For example, if a door is squeaking and needs new hinges, it's going to be really inefficient to call someone. Most tradesmen don't fix thing…
