When men say they wish women would make a first move, what they mean is, they wish she'd smile at them from across a crowded room so they'd be less likely to get rejected if they approached her. They do NOT mean they want a woman who will do all the work. Of course, on Reddit men will always cry about how they wished women would take some of the pressure off them by being assertive--that's because these are loser gamer porn addicts who have never interacted with women before and live in a fantas…

I deleted Facebook 8 months ago and it was one of the better decisions I made as an adult. First thing I did was make sure I had anyone important's birthday in my calendar. Turns out I already did. Then I saved all of my photos from 15 years of having a profile. That was a pain in the ass, but I didn't want to lose them. I also downloaded a copy of my data from Facebook. Then I posted a status saying "I'm permanently deleting this account on [date]. If I don't already have your contact info and …

This is very typical narcissist behavior. They can't stand having attention drawn away from them, so they find a way to sabotage the day.

As a fellow curly haired person I am uniquely annoyed at his compliments on your straight hair, and also not surprised. Guys I've dated have mostly liked my hair, but there were a few who'd make longing comments about what I would look like if I straightened it, which takes at least 2 hours. Like, there are plenty of straight haired girls, why not just date one of them?

Shoprite...must be from my old neck of the woods. I could swear I am having the same conversation with a LVM whom I met through friends, he slid into my DMS a few weeks ago. Was unemployed before the pandemic really gained steam. Of course he didn't go to college but thinks he's smarter than everyone else and too good for many menial labor jobs which is all he's qualified for. Doesn't wear underwear and has worn the literal same exact outfit every time I have seen him. When we hung out in person…

Not completely (this way way before my FDS awareness) but we stopped being close friends. That was close to 3 years ago so I'm over it now. We are fine, but don't spend any time together, save for an occasional text.

"You are a fucking unrepentant slob." Said as I slammed the car door of my FWB's car and blocked him from my entire life. "Have you considered getting tested for autism?" Said to my then boyfriend when I found out he'd told my ex I wasn't over him. I had dumped my boyfriend for being a loser, and he was upset and couldn't accept it and thought I was still hung up on my ex, so when he saw him, he mentioned that I still had unresolved feelings. He then could not understand why I was so mad when I …

Unpopular opinion according to today's society: Every "sexually liberated" woman I know, every last one of them, was not-so-secretly miserable and self-loathing. They've all calmed down and pursued more traditional relationships after being used and spit back out time and time again. Our society has put such an emphasis on sexual compatibility on being of utmost importance in a relationship, and each of these women justified their hoe-ness by saying they wanted to quickly find out if they were c…

I've been here too, with a man who was so far below my league it wasn't even funny. I thought that by having casual sex he'd see how COOL I was and want to date me, it only led to "confusing" conversations like this one, and when I'd pull away then he'd start to pay more attention, making me think he was finally getting serious. This went on for 2 years. The one day I blocked him. Off Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, EVEN LINKEDIN. It was wonderful and one of the best decisions of my life. Guess w…

THANK YOU. Why do these men think that staring at them from across a table for two hours is soooo enticing? I would much rather eat by myself (which I do often, actually) or pick up some take out and watch a show than waste my time pulling teeth for conversation with some lame-o all the name of free dinner. There are literally 5 things I could be doing on any given night, so taking time to eat a meal with someone means I'm sacrificing something enjoyable and beneficial to me.

That place is SUCH a dump. As someone over 30 I joined in order to help myself feel empowered with dating or at least read about experiences and strategies, but each time I visited I felt more and more depressed. This sub leaves me feeling empowered. SO many LVMs in there talking about how if they don't get sex on the third date they're ready to move on because sexual compatibility is so important!!! Pick me's who don't even realize they're pick me's abound, crying about some loser who's ghostin…

So true. Men are ALL ABOUT the "durr, we're so dense, you have to be direct with us11111!!!!" Leading women to think that, "Gee, I'll just tell him I like him!" Men are dense. They also do not want you to ask them out. Because if they wanted to date you they would have asked you out already. If they're so cripplingly shy that they can't manage this, they aren't ready to be dating and should check themselves into an inpatient psych ward. They will say yes if you ask them out, just like you'd say …

Yes, severely. I'm not sure that I have any advice but I do understand. With the last guy I was seeing, he did something I didn't like, I got upset, and then I ended up apologizing for being upset. Men who live with their parents are fucking losers, and I don't even care about the circumstances. "Saving money to buy a house" is a bullshit reason, because they'll never be motivated enough to leave the comfort of their mommy's house. Why can't they be living on their own and saving while they do so? Oh right, because they don't have a live-in maid to handle a household. I don't even think I'd make an exception for a man who was taking care of his parents, unless it was his house and they mov…

I made the same mistake recently so there's no judgment here, but AS SOON AS you start with the apologizing, backtracking, and all of that, you've already given him the power. The hot/cold game will only get worse until you walk away. I thought I was doing myself a favor by being honest about my feelings and telling a guy I liked him, all it did was allow him to wield that over me and be ambivalent. I have had this stance for years before I even knew what FDS was, and sometimes I felt like an old fashioned prude. I let one guy live with me for two weeks before I kicked him out. I have seen countless relationships fall apart and the couple lived together, and many more countless miserable married people who decided taking the next step was easier than splitting up. I will never live with a man before I am married. I want to create a life WITH someone, not shoehorn him into an existing space …

Yep, I question anyone who is "charming" because it's usually all an act. I have went on several dates with some charming men and very soon they revealed themselves to be relentless cold assholes. They will make assumptions about you ("You seem like the kind of girl who X"), try to be witty and funny as opposed to having a genuine conversation, and blather on without revealing much of anything about themselves.

I'd be curious to know what the plans are for when the child is born...is he signing over his parental rights? Is he going to want visitation? Is the child going to be in his life? I remember when this term originated a few years ago. Cue all the c o o l g i r l s going on about how they're totally secure in their relationship and not jealous at all and it's fine if their SO flirts a little because at the end of the day, she knows who he's coming home to. I can't emphasize how damaging this was for me, as someone with a boyfriend who enjoyed flirting with other people in front of me. I saw that too. Never mind the fact that men have been in power since the beginning of time. Now that women also work and want to do more besides stay home and be a baby incubator, the men are threatened. Because suddenly the women are also going to college and having careers and hobbies and don't need to put up with your average slovenly male. These men forget that women were once not allowed to vote, own property, even open a credit card. So of course they put up with these men in order to not…

The present. The past is heavily romanticized. The "good old days" were good for white men and that's about it. It wasn't too long ago that at least here in the US, black people couldn't drink out of the same water fountain as white people. Women were still expected to be homemakers. It was legal to rape your wife. We have many more freedoms today.

Hmm, I actually feel the opposite, that being childfree is looked at by society, especially if you are a woman, as a sign that you're deficient or missing out on something. Lots of "hardest job in the world" and "you don't know true love until you're a parent" messages women are constantly being fed. I've dated several men who wanted kids to pass on the family name or their "legacy" without considering how much a woman must sacrifice in order to birth and raise a child. But that being said, I th…

Video games are a waste of time and I do not respect any man who considers them as a hobby. It's such a turnoff to see man slumped over in front of the TV for hours batting his pudgy thumbs at a controller screaming at nothing. I suppose I'm in the minority because I actually don't mind coffee dates, especially if it's a guy I'm meeting for the first time. I really love coffee and it's an easy way to keep things short if you're not feeling it. However, a walk in the park? Fuck that. This is so true. I grew up with a mom who liked to tell me I was a miserable person that no one would ever love, and that she felt bad for whatever man I ended up with. She also told me that my miserable disposition was genetic so there was no way I could change it. She'd constantly tell me how worthless and ungrateful I was and that she was ashamed to be my mom. I am feeling this way too. I've been organically becoming more confident but finding this sub just put it into overdrive. Just today I ignored a text from a guy who strung me along and said we could be friends after he wasn't interested in dating me. I also unmatched a guy on Hinge who's been chatting with me for a week, taking 12 hours or more to respond, and here I was trying to be patient and see if he'd ask me out. They want the girlfriend experience without having to put any boyfriend tokens in. As his friend, you will: listen to his problems, support him, maybe bring him some food, give him some advice on whoever he's chasing next, and maybe, if you both grab a drink and let your defenses down, sleep with him, continuing to boost his ego and manage his emotions Friendship is not a consolation prize for a failed relationship.
