I’m sure there are many men here or elsewhere that have more experience evangelizing to atheists. In my limited experience the harder the heart the more you need to ask questions - not in a way where you are seeking to win an argument, you want to win the person. If someone says there is not objective truth, kindly ask them about a behavior that points to a belief about objective truth. For example, “I’m confused, how can xyz be ‘wrong’ if there is no objective truth?” If they get salty or it ca…

You seem to be actively struggling, so I’m going to take this a step farther. Your mission is weak because it isn’t specific. How do you plan to make disciples? Through playing sport and evangelizing? Getting into ministry? How do you want to spread God’s word? What, specifically are you doing now to further that mission? Are you learning Hebrew? Arguments against atheism? How to share the gospel with curious non-believers? How to share your faith with someone hostel to the Gospel? I’m not sugge…

Welcome. Thank you for sharing. It sounds like you are on a good path, or at least the start of one. You mention some evangelizing you are doing online (in the new group). Do you have a mission that involves making disciples? I know that the lack of direction can make commitment to the spiritual disciplines you describe more difficult.

I would move beyond STFU. Maybe I’m wrong in your case, but I think STFU is the beginning. It is to break old habits of saying unattractive things, placating, and feeding you wife logic that only causes more ‘hamstering.’ Once you’ve broken your old pattern you need a new one. One that pulls he out of her negative emotional state and into your positive one.

You mentioned your wife being frustrating, references pregnancy hormones, and gave an example of “does this make me look fat?” How much do you care about her emotions? I don’t mean about her well being or if she’s in some deep depression. But, when she gets upset is your primary motivation to somehow get her to stop being upset or a pain in the butt or is it the same as before she was upset? Her upset/rudeness/hamster/etc. is just another hurdle to overcome in whatever mission you’re on. u/red-c…

I'm having trouble waking up early and with a 9-5 and other commitments I'm not good at making the time. I’ve read that Ribbon Farm essay series and I don’t know that I follow what your suggesting exactly. I’m also not sure I’m a huge fan of that model, because being in the corporate world drives me nuts. I want to find a work-from-job so I can play guitar, read, or work on something of value to me during my down time.

As far a quitting porn goes, I struggled with this for years. What it took to finally quit was the Holy Spirit changing my heart. I don’t have a desire for it any more. I say that to remind you to pray, when you aren’t feeling tempted, for God to “create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” I’m not suggesting you stop doing anything you are doing to prevent using porn, but it’s easy to try to handle these things ourselves instead of asking God for the change we need. …

That’s helpful, thanks for the reply. I’m new to taking God’s law seriously, and there are a lot of conflicting sources on this information. Give a lot, cheerfully, and often to those that need it seems right to me as well. But. I’m also learning that what ‘seems right’ to me is often sinful. I really appreciate he direction.

Thank you, you are absolutely right. And, I agree, my 'excuse' is ridiculous. It's me choosing sin (porn) over God's gifts (sex within the marriage covenant). u/rocknrollchuck gave me some bible verses to memorize, and I'm starting in 1 Corinthians, but I'm going to add some from Genesis in there. Genesis 2:24 + 1:28. Mark10:9.

Yes, sex outside of marriage is a sin. I'm answering this in some detail, because I struggled (and still struggle) with sexual sin and temptation. I'm hoping this can help some of the single men with perspective. I'm one of the men who has spent time jumping through etymological hoops trying to discern 'original intent' form the Greek, so that I could justify my sin. It doesn't work that way, God's law is clear. Now, I'm not saying sex is wrong, bad, or evil. I heard two analogies in sermons rec…

Thank you for your detailed reply. >This is excellent. I don't deny the need to dig in deeper, but how familiar with Scripture are you at this point? Not well enough. Which I'm sure will be my eternal answer. I can't list the kings through Judges and I still forget the order of the patriarchs. I know where to find the sermon on the mount and the similar sermon in Luke. I know the psalms are for worship and prayer and proverbs are not law. I know Jesus is the culmination of the law which Israel c…

1st week of September. I'm not sure if you don't get this in that it's so dumb in general or if my explanation is just so poor it's confusing. I'm not trying to be romantic, I'm trying to 'arrange' shit so I don't have to face rejection. Instead of trying to fuck her and facing a possible 'no' I'm waiting for her to jump me. I try to 'arrange' it so she will. I'm not saying I see this as a positive.

I’m having a hard time answering this question clearly- which is probably the problem you’re pointing out.
