1	19 year old boy forced to register as a sex offender even after 14 year old told police and judge she had lied about being 17. He only got weekends in jail. Isn't that the bigger problem? Isn't the problem that neither the friend of family nor the grandsons got punished? See even if they got molested themselves that does not excuse them for molesting you. The answer I see there is that the problem is not that a list for sex offenders changes anything (and has a ton of problems), but rather that the perpetrators didn't get properly punished/treaded in psychiatry. The thing is even rapists have a chance to change and I think it is wrong if someone made a mistake, even a grave one like raping somebody, to be having their life destroyed. See a person might get severely drunk and commit a mistake and I think it is wrong to brand them for the rest of their life. I personally think that reform should be the primary task of the judical system and that generally people should be released if they carried out their sentence. If people are seen as ill, they should be send to psychiatry (this is especially towards rapists, child molesters, murderers etc.). What I said that the general rule is that people should be released but if the judical system/doctors/general people who are qualified to judge this, think that they still are a threat to society that there should be the possibility to extend a sentence. To be fair I am not that wll known in american right but I am fairly certain that it would be unconstitutional under the german constitution.
