6	My college class recently discussed student expectations. Most of the women expected to have a good career, marry a man who earned same or more, share housework equally, not sacrifice her career for his. Have children around 30, have the choice to work or stay home after kids. I've been accused many times of being "selfish" for NOT having kids. No kids for me; I heard my biological alarm clock ringing, loud and clear, but I kept hitting the snooze button until it gave up. In fact, it finally stopped ticking altogether. I have no regrets. I deliberately chose to live with late nights out, late mornings in, with sharp objects and household poisons within easy reach. I didn't waste anybody's time with a pretend relationship with children as some kind of goal. 2	Last week my 22 floor office building had a fire alarm. We have fire drills every year so no one was concerned and everyone started down the stairs in an orderly way. Then we smelled smoke and heard sirens. The stairs were very packed and slow moving and many of the women started to panic... Seriously. Women can be just as violent as men. Yet men are often arrested anyhow. All he has to do is flinch, and she can tell the police that he was "menacing" her, that he "scares" her. It's rarely if ever the other way around. Domestic violence is reprehensible no matter how you view it, but the myth that men are always the abuser is revolting. This has got to stop! One thing that's always bothered me is this: there used to be lots of ads and TV commercials that depicted women as half-wit housewives who were expected to clean, cook, raise kids, and maybe work as a secretary, nurse, librarian, or elementary school teacher, but nothing more challenging than that.
