Autoregulation is an important part of a weightlifting program, as is periodicity. Sometimes you should leave a few reps in the tank. As for diet, indulging in a cheat meal or a night out from time to time is perfectly fine if that's something you enjoy doing. Don't skip on living just to meet some arbitrary goal, once you reach it there will be another one. Fitness is a lifestyle, so make it a sustainable one.

It's a combination of several factors, including genes passed on from both parents (I'm on my phone so hard to link references). Women have two sets of each gene, whereas men have two sets of all genes with the exception of those found in the sex chromosomes. This means that if a woman has a defective gene, the other copy can compensate (think colorblindness for example), but she can still pass on the defective copy. That's part of the reason why some imperfections are passed on.

Exactly. Additionally, the diamonds used in industry, e.g. in certain drills, are all artificially made.

Pretty common in research, both men and women work long hours.

There's no need to feel hungry when cutting, just plan your diet well.

Solid advice. The one thing I would like to point out is that the grades you need and their importance will depend on the field you're in. During your undergrad they are pretty important regardless, but after that especially in sciences they don't really matter. Bs get PhDs is a saying for a reason.

Estrogen and other hormones are pretty insoluble in water, although they do end up in the water supply. However, they may also end up in our food supply, and the compounds are pretty stable, making their consumption all the more likely. Scary

It won't take that long. Gonorrhea is already an urgent threat according to CDC. There are new antibiotics being developed but unless doctors stop giving antibiotics against the flu and we stop feeding them to animals it will only get worse.

I personally feel that five books aren't even close to what an educated man should have read, but here's my attempt of a well-rounded selection. Resurrection - Leo Tolstoy The Art of War - Sun Wu (Sun-Tzu) De Profundis - Oscar Wilde Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway Doctor Zhivago - Boris Pasternak All of these deal with personal growth, survival, and even understanding the world beyond yourself. They are also world classics, thus providing not only assistance in personal growth, but also a…

I used to do that combined with martial arts. Two days a week was enough for me to get some gains, although be it more slowly than with three or four day programs.

All true, my point was that the article does not come across as a reliable source since it claims some correlations to be fact, and then it had some actual errors. I wasn't commenting on the healthiness of a high protein diet. Proteins do form acidic compounds when broken down, but under physiological conditions only Glu and Asp are actually acidic, whereas some, such as Arg, His, and Lys are basic.

I would advice against taking the contents of that article as fact. There are quite a few scientific mistakes alone, (such as claiming all amino acids to be acidic when only glutamate and aspartate are acidic), but it also makes claims based on inconclusive evidence (e.g. risk of osteoporosis). There were plenty of other issues, this was just to point out that the article seems like pseudoscience.

As far as I know there is no direct evidence showing this to be true in higher species.

It's only been shown to be true on fruit flies. You can find the study here.

I like your post and I also agree that eating healthy is vital, abs are made in the kitchen after all. However, the science here isn't exactly accurate as others have pointed out. For instance, your cells do not get fat, they only store a certain amount of lipids and fatty acids. Adipose tissue, i.e. fat cells, store the majority of accumulated fat in the body. Also, there are different types of fats and lipids, and their metabolism depends on several factors.

A bit of nerdy trivia to add: the 1.618 to 1 shoulders to weight ratio is a common ratio in nature known as The Golden Ratio.

Have to say I like coming to this sub for comments like this one. People don't just blindly accuse women and feminism, but rather try to uphold critical thinking and being levelheaded.

That's pretty impressive, I only do amateur stuff. It is difficult to say what people do when they panic, and I suppose a risk like that is a bit pointless.

I do MMA and as a personal preference I like taking it onto the ground and control my opponent (obviously in a fight I will either strike or go for a submission) which, if you know how to do it, can be both safe and effective. The hidden weapon is a problem, but if you put a choke on them, most people are unlikely to remain calm enough to reach for something. That being said, I do think that your method is fair and justified.
