As a woman who is considered "out of my SO's league," I would agree with the above advice. My SO is not considered conventionally attractive, however I think he has the most beautiful blue eyes, is stylish but not in a fussy way, and he has a build I'm attracted to (which does not include a 6-pack). I would say my SO ranges anywhere from one extreme to the other at certain times, but most of the time he's considered more effeminate. He's open to talking about emotions, verbally supportive and has a softer approach with people. He certainly can flip over to a more masculine persona, but with me he's almost always a softy. I mean, I think he's the shit but I'm pretty biased lol.

Pretty much this. The friend zone is not inescapable.. I'm cautious about dating and even more cautious about putting a title on something. Most of my other female friends are too, but we aren't the types just looking for a fling. My current SO was "in the friend zone" for 7 years, now we've been together for 2. He was always my very favorite person to be around, but I had initially ruled him out and continued to for several years.
