TBH the story is what it is, but what would make me take down your post if I were a mod would be your generally shitty attitude about posting the story itself.

I don't know that I've ever changed what I've said or how I've said it because my wife or a random woman was present. I've changed how I spoke around strangers or children... But who would want to live on eggshells like that? Just do you.

To be honest, I would rather have the government massively fund the studies required for FDA approval for Vasalgel. It's promising, effective, and it's totally reversible. But there's no money in it. Manufacturing will be insanely cheap. It will replace a large percentage of condom use, so the condom industry wouldn't fund it. It will be a massively cheaper substitute for vasectomy so urologists wouldn't find it. And it will replace a large percentage of current and future daily birth control pi…

I'd suggest you should try to exercise some more empathy and try to actually put yourself in the shoes of a woman or an ethnic minority in our society. I didn't mean to suggest that it was the men in power that are causing all of the oppression. By systematic I do mean systems created by the powerful, but I also mean culturally ingrained. Just as an experiment. Create a twitter handle or a facebook account as a woman. Express some feminist views. Share a story of somebody's posting to #metoo or …

Because women and racial minorities are victims of historical and systematic oppression. Men don't come second... well... I mean we SHOULD come second, we should make sure they come first before we come, just so we know they're good... I'm digressing... Men don't come second in my mind. I see a mountain of inequity and a molehill of inequity. And I'm choosing to start helping deconstruct the mountain. It has nothing to do with men and women. If it were people with moles on their faces or short p…

I think an analogy on the differences between male and female genital mutilation is a perfect analogy to the 'MRA' vs 'Feminism'/'Civil Rights' discussion. For everything you can say about male circumcision, you can say about female genital mutilation. But the reverse is not the case. FGM is horrific, disgusting, barbaric, and causes lifelong torture to girls and women who undergo it. Male circumcision, while it is a permanent violation of bodily autonomy, is by comparison a walk in the fucking …

That's what you mean, right? You aren't interested in what I mean. You're interested in creating a caricature of my words so you can mock and deride me. Your hilariously amateurish reductio ad absurdum attempts, while amusing, are certainly not in the same solar system as what I say. It'd be like if I were writing about chemistry and you're discussing 15th century Greek poetry. You haven't shown the reading comprehension skills necessary to gleam what another person says. And you certainly haven…

As for your namecalling... Everyone's a racist, am I any different? I can't stop myself from thinking Blue M&M's are smug and are worth less than Red M&M's. What are the chances I am 100% egalitarian in my mind about skin color or hair color or face shape? All I can do is try to recognize those biases and work to correct them as I notice them.

You can't get to equity for all (e.g. raising up the minority) without the majority losing. It's just not how averages work. So until we get there, white men are going to simply be slightly worse off every step of the way. I guess that's the reason this sub exists - people are seeing it and fighting against it. But I'm still not going to waste my time and air and activism fighting for the majority when the minority is still seeing such comparatively overwhelming systemic oppression.
/r/MensRights15/03/18 09:04 PM
1

Justified? Maybe so maybe not. But I just don't care. You can't get equity without white men losing what minorities will gain. Averages just don't work any other way. To get 10% more employment for blacks you're going to lose 3% employment for whites. There's nothing anybody can do about it. And until we get closer to equity, I don't see the point fighting for the majority.
/r/MensRights15/03/18 09:00 PM

I don't disagree that it's discrimination. I just don't care. If equity is ever going to ever be achieved (within some error bar) on the whole, there will be some sectors that are more or less balanced. That's just the nature of averages. And until I see the black employment rate equal the white employment rate... until I see women's rights not under constant threat... Then I'm going to spending my air, time, resources, and activism on fixing those glaring inequities first. To do otherwise is my…

So you're fighting for the majority that is suffering minor slights and experiencing a tiny fraction of the oppression other groups in the same society face their whole lives. And you think that's more important than fighting for those actual oppressed minorities. That's some cowardly shit there.

I do have an open mind. But my problem is I don't care. So White Men are tasting very minor and limited specific instances of discrimination. Welcome to a fraction of a percent of what a black man goes through every single second of their lives from before they understand that skin color matters to a lot of people they're likely to interact with in their world. I just don't see a point in being SO angry about this stuff when black and female discrimination is still such an enormous problem in so…

Serious Question. What's the goal with a post like this? Should HuffPo be required to hire a certain % of each race including whites? Or should they be free of race restrictions and be allowed to hire whomever they want? Are you just trying to publicly shame HuffPo so they'll change their policy? Is it just to show other like-minds a reason to dislike HuffPo? I've just never understood a lot of what I see posted on this subreddit. What you do is you get a copy of the lawsuit, you go to see what lawyer/law firm filed it, and you see what kind of lawyer they are. The overwhelming majority of the time they're a crackpot who was just the first one to say "Why yes, I think this case is winnable - I'll be billing 'x' dollars per hour for my time." rather than laughing and hanging up the phone.

That's just the inherent violence of women. They're brought up in a 'slap-culture', they don't even think there's anything wrong with it. We need to treat all women as slappers until we can be sure they've overcome those primal urges. We must teach them all from a young age that is not okay to slap.

My frustration isn't the 'wage gap' - I'm perfectly willing to admit that exists. My frustration is that motherfucking "79 cents on the dollar" quote I constantly hear. I'm perfectly fine with "equal pay for equal work", but how about when the work isn't equal? Because the 79 cent figure factors in unequal work.

Here's another example... Rates are better than numbers or even percentages. This graph was misleading because it was comparing the percentage of types of workplace deaths of total workplace deaths by gender. Easily remedied by using rates over percentages. 1 in 'x' hours worked, or 'some fraction' per billion hours worked. Both graphs should have been rates of # of deaths per # of hours worked - broken out by cause, gender, and preferably type of work done.

You misunderstood my comment. I didn't mean that Freedom of movement can always be legally restricted. I meant that Freedom of movement can, given certain criteria, be legally restricted. We can legally block the exit of a criminal if he wants to leave his cell. We can legally lock a criminal in that cell for 20 years if he refuses to pay a fine. Bodily Autonomy can't be restricted. Even when we lock the criminal up, we can't forcibly remove his kidney - no matter what crime he's committed. A cr…

I would be fine with abolishing forced child support (and, to a large extent alimony as well), if we went to a /r/basicincome system of welfare. And I would be more secure in my opinions about the current child support system if men had an as good or better way to control their reproduction as women do in the pill or IUDs. As the world stands today, the current laws are somewhat, but not overly sexist against men's rights. There could certainly be room for improvement to increase fairness. But i…

I think that child support should be restricted only to marriage and divorce, to situations where the child support is necessary for the child to continue their quality of life, where the father agreed to be responsible for his wife's children by virtue of marriage. I would say that there is a contradiction in child support laws and abortion laws. Or at least there would be if abortion were granted upon the right of the woman to decide she isn't ready for a child. But they aren't. Say a woman pa…

Freedom of movement can be legally restricted. Bodily Autonomy can't. I can legally restrain somebody who wishes me to do harm. I cannot tie him down, remove his kidney against his will, and give it to a dying child. Society can reasonably restrict the movement and passage of people who are a danger to others or as punishment for crime (which I don't agree with, if you care - I do not personally believe in incarceration as punishment, only as a way to keep society safe from dangerous people - cr…

Women have abortions for many reasons, but one of them has to do with whether or not we feel ready to be parents, both emotionally and fiscally. I understand that. But my point above shows that the basis for their right to have an abortion isn't tied to the right to decide not to be a parent. It's tied to the right of bodily autonomy. I showed above that if there were a way to maintain bodily autonomy but save the fetus, then abortion could be illegal and both men and women would be in the same …

Being jailed doesn't violate bodily autonomy. It violates personal freedom and movement. Your point about save haven laws is valid, but not in the way you'd like. The government should make a reasonable effort to find the other parent of children that are taken in by safe haven systems to ensure the child wasn't dropped off against the other parent's will. And if that parent is found and does want to take the child, the other parent shouldn't be off the hook for child support. The reason for saf…

I think you're misunderstanding the OP's point. That would make sense. I completely don't understand OP's point. Reproductive prophylactics are very female-centric right now, I'll grant that. Men should have better ways to control their reproduction - and until they do the laws surrounding it will be inherently unfair. But that's a problem with reality, not with the laws. I mean, what would be the solution? That men should be able to father children, leave them with the mothers, and not pay chil…

Two completely different things. One is a woman exercising her right to bodily autonomy. She doesn't need anybody's consent to make that decision. Once the child is born the law may not be completely fair yet, but in principle men and women should have equal responsibility if they decide to not raise the child. I know single mothers who are raising children with the help of child support, and I know several single fathers where the mother pays court-ordered child support. While the law could cer…

I'm not pro male. I'm pro equality. Equality regardless of race. Equality regardless of income. Equality regardless of health or infirmity. Equality regardless of sexual preference. Equality regardless of gender. Equality in the eyes of the law. Equality in the hearts of each other. This means a lot of female-biased laws and attitudes need to be changed. AND it means a lot of male-biased laws and attitudes need to be changed.

Well that's an odd thing to push for. Punish whoever is taking care of the child? Maybe they planned to take care of the children together, based their education and career paths on that (her being a housewife, him being a brain surgeon). Then the marriage goes south, and she has full custody. She has no way to support herself (this is the whole thought behind alimony, but this topic is about child support, so I'll try to stay on topic), let alone support the children alone. He had planned to sp…

So... Here's a question... If the step father didn't feed the kids, would he be liable? Why is household income taken into account for alimony but not child support? What about if he got married to the OP, would their housthold income matter to the child support? Is this because he doesn't have equal custody? What's the logic here? That since they're his kids and he doesn't have custody of them for a certain amount of time, then he has to subsidize the time they would be with him?

The argument for abortion is not the right to end the life of a baby. The argument for abortion is the right for a woman to maintain her bodily autonomy. In the same way that you can't be legally forced to donate a kidney, give blood, or in any way violate your bodily autonomy for another living being (even when you are at fault for the situation in the first place), you can't be forced to donate your body for a baby to use as an incubator. The man in this situation has zero say in the decision …

The female equivalent to male financial abortion is female financial abortion. The male equivalent to female physical abortion is... ... ... nothing. Men simply don't grow a fetus inside themselves.

Think about it more like this... Woman gives birth, is with the father for a bit... finds another guy and leaves her kids. She doesn't pay child support or see her children. That's an equivalent situation. And in that situation I see her as much of a deadbeat mother as I would any man in the same situation. In the situation outlined here, there is no male equivalent.

These are all cogent, well thought out, logical ideas that open the floor for discussion, civilized argument, evidence gathering, study, analysis and should lead to new legislation on mens parentage rights. It will never see the outside of this forum post. And that's sad.
