Hell, even if he has a nice clean apartment that doesn't mean it's always clean the moment you leave. I've heard too many confessions from guys who are content to live in filth, but will frantically clean up their messy rooms when they know a woman is coming over to visit.

Thing is, if men are capable of being respectful at any age or scrotes at any age depending on their personality, then I'm not so sure that broadly warning against dating older men is any more foolproof in terms of avoiding misery than OP's advice broadly warning against dating younger men. After all I think we can agree that the main takeaway of FDS is to vet, vet, vet, each individual man systematically and mercilessly, without being either falsely comforted or dissuaded by external traits lik…

It depends on the time frame really, if the period between "you date a guy" and "it gets serious" and eventually "he wants to marry, you don't" (or the reverse) is too drawn out then you're only hurting yourself. Especially since we all know that "taking it slow" and "casual" are often code for men to play the field for their own immediate benefit and at the expense of the women they toy around with. It makes sense to identify these kinds of men and weed them out by asking questions and determin…

I think the real lesson here is that there are no "green flags" when it comes to age and that you should vet men individually without getting either too comfortable or too leery just from one factor alone. After all Brian Laundrie was only a year older than Gabby Petito but that didn't stop him from victimizing and killing her. Scrotes are scrotes at any age, and young adult men with an abundance of testosterone and frustration and energy are certainly no exception.

Tbh I always felt like fine af Friday was a bit "low effort" and counterproductive to the purpose of our sub. If the whole point is to decenter men from our lives and be happy with being alone, then what's the point of ogling HVM (and presumed HVM at that, based on their looks) and, ironically, risking encouraging users to actively desire the idea of dating again just to find men like those? I mean it's a nice break from posts about toxic men, but it doesn't really serve an educational purpose a…

For sure there are gross neckbeard types who demand "petite women only" but it seems obvious from the way the bio was written that this guy's intent was to mock women who put "no boys shorter than 6'0" on their profile.

A guy being scared he'll come across as creep is the biggest red flag. It just means hes creepy IME many creeps I've encountered had absolutely no self-awareness and didn't know or care that they were acting creepy, so any lack of inhibition on their part could easily risk being interpreted as a false negative for them being "normal" guys.

No doubt men who leave their wives for younger women are as delusional as they are scummy. And all the creepy men with no sense of personal boundaries who seemingly become more and more bold over time. That said I just question the utility of calling out men who date younger while at the same time extolling the virtues of women dating younger men. IMO that mindset doesn't do enough to stop the stigmatization of "older" as a pejorative in "older men" from backfiring on older women who already fac…

For real, lack of confidence is a huge turnoff as much as cockiness and overconfidence in men. Just goes to show you can't get too comfortable with categories, the only solution is to vet every man as an individual without reservation. Although I am curious: if a guy is so damn shy that he can't even go the store without having a nervous breakdown then how on Earth is he sociable enough to have female "friends" or flirt with waitresses? Either he's a real Jekyll and Hyde character or he's just p…

That's fair, I'd say that "growth" is probably a much more descriptive (and compassionate) way of characterizing the difference between a LV and HV mindset than thinking of it as a strict either-or. More like a gradient, so to speak.

Also her own implicit recognition at how problematic the huge age gap between her and her bf was for her own well-being ("I will not battle a girl half my age for a boy"). But I think the focus should be on celebrating women who recognize and put a stop to self-destructive behavior to BECOME HVW, not stigmatize them forever for having once made LV decisions and changed for the better.

Yeah that's annoying as hell, and it's because a lot of men want women to be "amazing" in every way but just a little less amazing than themselves so they can save their ego. For me though I feel like it's almost better that a guy errs on the side of talking too much about himself than not saying much at all, because that way he can expose his flaws even quicker without me having to pry them out of him. Also with quiet guys it's harder to tell if that's the level of conversation I can expect in …

Yeah if he's genuinely concerned about Asian guys being emasculated and looked down upon then his frustration is understandable, I'm not dismissing that part. But fighting one stereotype by creating another, or implying all Asian women are "sellouts" and coming off as trying to claim ownership over your race's women is still a terrible way to go about it.

"Dying in sg where asian girls sellout to kpop/white guys" Wait that doesn't make much sense, isn't the kpop fan demographic mostly Asian and non-Asian girls chasing after Asian guys who fit the pretty boy image? So they're still open to guys of their own race, just a specific type. Unless he means white guys who look and act like kpop stars, but I doubt there's that many of them out there.

Aside from just being ashamed of their current looks, probably because these guys have so few accomplishments to speak of that they want to hang on to their high school glory days when they peaked as the quarterback of the football team or whatever. Like you seem to imply, I don't think they're doing that so much in response to lagging demand, since a lot of women are open to the idea of dating older guys (as is evident in the frequent age gap posts on advice subs). But unfortunately some of the…

Men our age as just as capable of fucking you over. This is crucial to realize. Setting up a dichotomy of younger guys = naive and older guys = manipulative can be dangerous because framing it that way has the effect of giving us a false sense of security. And I would say that one of the most important principles of this community is that there are no obvious outward signs of LVM and HVM, since men will use any manner of deception to extract what they want from you. That's why we need to be vigi…

Yep, I want to date my equal, not a submissive child. If he waits to speak how can you expect him to speak up for you?

Of course, as with any guy there's always the possibility that he could be lying, or that his fetish is a more recent development and that you're dealing with a "first-time offender," so to speak. That's why the default mentality when dealing with men should be to always take what they say with a critical attitude, and also why I would take things slow so as to give him more space to slip up and make mistakes. Often these types end up revealing their hand due to laziness or complacency, and more…

Except the irony is that idiots like these actually do care about women's pleasure, but only in that selfish way of asking you after sex "Did I make you cum??" so as to make themselves feel better. Of course there are decent guys who actually check to make sure you're having a good time, but there are also those who will put on an act of being a good man until after they successfully get you in bed. Sometimes when they ask that question, I don't know whether to tell them "nope, not even close!" …

Then at the very least you know he's not operating from an unhealthy perspective of fetishizing youth, and interested in you because of a connection on a deeper level. Even better if he has a history of dating older women, which signifies he's open-minded in either direction. Honestly though it's common for women of all ages to look better and younger than they actually are, so if he's attracted to you without knowing how old you are it could be that he simply thinks you're an older woman who's …
