Just smile. Your whole face moves so you can tell by someone’s eyes if they are smiling

The hair tuck is a winner for sure. It’s usually subconscious so you can rely on it a bit more than other cues.

Literally. It’s a pheromone inducer.

This is pretty much dead on(skimmed). Nice guys tend to believe women are helpless creatures that need a knight in shining armor. They don’t. They’re just like men. They want to fuck the best thing they can. Confidence is the hottest thing to them

Any woman who “tests” you like that isn’t worth anything. NOTHING. That’s a huge red flag. Move on immediately...at least emotionally. If she’s a 10, play her game, take some videos for your friends, and move on once it’s too tedious.

Why make an excuse? If you think there’s a need then do it. You have an absolute right to know if a child is yours. Why even tell her you doing it? The only time you tell her is when she reads about the results in the divorce papers she’s just been served. If the results say the kid is yours, congrats. But there is a gut feeling that made you get that test. Trust that instinct. You’re probably more lucky than she is faithful.

Well, you're going to get a very biased opinion here...and I'm certainly not going to deviate from that opinion. As a man, marriage is the single worst thing you can do for yourself. Nobody thinks they'll get divorced, but half of us do. And when that happens, men get fucked...hard. If you get married, you might as well start loosening your ass up now, because years from now, she'll hire a lawyer and they will fuck you every way they can think of. It doesn't matter that you were a loyal, caring,…

Yup. Plus alimony and child support

First, the fact that you don't want to hurt someone isn't cowardly, it's compassionate. Second, you never hurt her. If your gut instinct is right (I'd bet that it is), then all that crying is just part of the facade, part of the act. People like her don't cry because you're leaving them, they cry because they know you have a heart and they know it's the easiest way to keep the status quo. Keeping you is much easier than getting you back so they pull the heart-strings and tell you everything you …

They're not headed there...they're already there. Have been for a long, long time. A stay-at-home mom (or dad, for that matter) can be fucking around on you the entire time and when you file for divorce, you're still going to be giving them half, plus alimony and child support. It's completely insane, but that's how it works. I'm telling my kids to never get married.

Definitely rock bottom for me as well. Waiting for the results was the worst few days of my life. Finding out they were both mine was the biggest sense of relief ever. It was like they were reborn somehow. I doubt being a father is the sole value you provide to the world, but giving your little girl happiness is the only reason you need to keep on going. Good luck and don't forget to find some happiness for yourself...it will rub off on your daughter.

Yeah, you can't put a price on peace-of-mind. Glad it worked out well. I have two of those tests myself, so I can definitely relate.

Cheaters cheat. You should definitely get a DNA test. It might not change how you feel about your daughter, but it's better than having that thought lingering in your head for years. They're only like $85 and you can get them at the pharmacy.

Cheaper just to keep her... Pathetic, but true.

Exercise yourself to exhaustion before bed if you have to. It's really important that you get on a normal sleep schedule. Constant lack of sleep will really fuck with your mind and, hence, your ability process anything clearly. You'll start doing things that are very abnormal for you and retrospectively you won't even be sure why you did them. Sometimes, you won't even remember. Keep your mind sharp, if nothing else.

You're miserable. You've mentally and emotionally 'checked out'. There's no need for 'big problems'. You're unhappy and it's not going to get better. That sounds to me like a 'big enough problem'. No further justification needed.

You found the tip of the iceberg. It was probably much worse. The biggest red flag is that she basically blamed you for her behavior. You need to stay far away from people like that.

If she's on a date with you, she's not intimidated by you so just relax. Women are used to being smaller in stature so don't get hung up on it. I'm average in size and I've always been around 6-8" taller and and 75-100 lbs heavier than anyone I dated. Learn to read body language and other cues that she's receptive. That's all. Or just be honest and tell her you're worried about being intimidating. A giant of a man who cares about how she feels...probably not terrible.

Personally, I'd prefer to hear your viewpoint on the same examples.

I've ready dozens of stories like this. It could potentially be happening to me as I write this. I don't think so, but no one ever does until it's too late. OP, as of now, you are in control of the situation and you need to keep it that way. As for the kids, it always seems better for them if the divorce happens when they are very young. They adapt quickly and their inability to fully comprehend what's happening seems to minimize the emotional impact. That's my two cents anyway...

Feelings are feelings. They're not logical. You "should" feel exactly how you do feel. You can't help that. It's not controllable. You can control your actions and how you proceed forward. She made her choice to move forward without you. It's okay to have compassion for her. Her situation sounds awful, but don't get bogged down in her future. She didn't want you in it. You're still suffering the loss of the relationship you loved and wanted. Everything you feel now is still based on the suddenne…

Agreed. If you can write her a check for $20K, you should just get a lawyer and get some real advice.
/r/Divorce_Men04/10/19 03:35 PM
3

Yeah, be careful. It's real easy for a woman to get a restraining order, temporary full custody, a freeze on your assets, etc. They don't really even need proof. Be very careful not to give her anything usable. If you've got to 'tie one on', go somewhere safe like a friends house and turn off your phone so there's no way to get yourself into trouble.

In theory, it shouldn’t matter. There firms popping up that are specializing in representing men in divorce. See if you can find one of those

Lawyer up immediately. Audio and video recordings. Small, hidden devices are cheap now. A few hundred dollars worth of this equipment could save you literally everything. Good luck

I'm no lawyer, but I think this is correct. Without 'mutual agreement', she has no claim. Unless, that mutual agreement is part of a larger statement. i.e. "Household goods are to distributed fairly and ownership mutually agreed upon". At that point, her list is her claim to what is 'fair', which is, of course, subjective. If she thinks fair is basically everything, then your only response can be that 'fair' is basically nothing. That will set the middle ground and hopefully you get their quickl…

They exist. Definitely. Good enough reason? That's up to you. If it's going to make you miserable forever, that seems like a good enough reason to me.

Never really thought about that. I think there’s some merit to what you’re saying, but I’m not sure it would be mentally healthy for me. Anyone else, sure, as long we’re honest about everything then I’m fine. That’s basically what my life was like before her. But this whole thing really fucked with my head. I think that trying to have that with her would just be locking myself into reliving the worst days of my life. Thanks for the idea though. I’d rather think it through ahead time before stumb…

Yeah, it's easy to be a cynic from our point-of-view and it's easy to see our point of view as cynical, but for anyone else who stumbles upon this, it's not based in cynicism at all. Rather, it's based on my life experience and that of many others. And I'm simply imploring people, especially the younger generations, to consider what a legal marriage is and what the ramifications could be. You really need to remove your emotions from the decision and look at it from cost-benefit standpoint. I did…

I'm not trying to argue with you on this, I definitely see your point. And I agree that it could make things tricky, possibly even trickier, but that's not the point. The point is about options. If you're not legally married, it's not an 'actual divorce' since that's a legal process that dissolves a legally binding civil union. Being legally married forces you to into that legal process of divorce if you want to end the marriage. It doesn't matter if you agree on everything, you will go through …

It’s a manipulation tactic. It’s something you want or take pride in so she tells you you’re coming up short. So you do more and more and more to live up to that. But it doesn’t really matter how much you do you’ll always come up short. And when you finally give up she’ll be able to say you didn’t really want to be a “family man“. It’s a win-win for her and a lose lose for you. It works because, in reality, who but your wife would be the best judge of whether you are a “family man“? Unfortunatel…

Ha! Where's a lawyer when you need one?
/r/Divorce_Men27/08/19 09:36 PM

Yeah, there's definitely common law and pre-nups can be tossed, but... Pre-nups don't apply if you don't get married and A divorce automatically involves legal issues, where as Common Law wouldn't apply at all if you both were happy to just walk away. If one is unhappy, the burden would be on them to sue you and prove that a common law marriage existed. It might be easy in some cases, harder in others, but no matter what one party has to initiate a claim that this Common law marriage existed and…

Well, it's a bit late to warn off the Gen Xers, but as for Millenialls and Gen Z, I'd definitely tell them that there's very little benefit in being formally, legally married. Have a ceremony if you want, announce it to the world if you want, wear rings if you want, but keep the State out of it completely. Allow yourselves the benefit of a flexible future, knowing full well that you have no idea what the future holds. Happily ever after is not the norm. You will have ups and downs and you will b…

You should be terrified...They are literally two people in one. But one is adept at hiding While the other one is adept at making you thinking they’re the greatest thing ever. The worst part is it once you figure it out, not a soul will ever believe you unless you can prove what you’re saying.
