Our best bet is to ignore them and remain vigilant in using our downvote/upvote buttons to keep extremist voices away from our movement (whether they be racist, homophobic, mysandric or misogynistic). That would be novel on here if you could. And as another poster said, the advice is spot on. 25000 subscribers, what percentage of them are: Feminists, militant or otherwise. Men here to make as many anti-woman, misogynistic comments as they can muster. Men who just like to bait the militant femini…

Eek! You are right it does sound like that! I didn't mean it in a patronising way :-) I thought it was a more appropriate than " Hey I woukldn't mind a young Scots stud" :-P:)

Yup I found that out after! I also heard the Weegie song the other day. sung by Aberdeen at a Rangers game.... naughty but it did make me chuckle. Ah bless, you are only a couple of years older than my daughter. <<< suddenly feels old!

Nope never, only time we would use it is to say 'Americans use the word vacation instead of holiday' :-) We do use the word vacate though, as in vacate the building.

Hehehe! While drinking tea is an essential British tradition, calling dinner tea is just odd to me. Some people call lunch dinner too! Mind you, I drink coffee usually, lovely lovely coffee!!

That is true! And hun is an insult to a Celtic supporter apparently! lol But if you could just round up all the men aged 35-52, over 5ft 9 and put them on a train down to me I'd be most grateful.... :-)

Naaah Scotland's way more interesting than America ;) Err...as a woman who, ahem, 'likes' the Scots accent on a man, I need no convincing that Scotland is more interesting than america! :-) Seriously? lol so in Japan a Chav is a yankee! I wonder if the term 'trailer trash' might be used to signify a female chav. Now I am wondering if men are called trailer trash too!

Hahaha!! :-D See it works!!! Mind you all I want to shout now is " There is joose, loose abut this hoose" Thug, yeah might be it. I wonder if they have a subsection of chavs/neds... I am also wondering if they sell Burberry clothes, addidas trousers and white lightening cider out there too... :-)

Can't say I am overly fussed about footie either! :-) Lol you should post with an accent, cannae, fae, wee, oot etc, and if possible through in the odd Taggart impression " There has been a murrrrdur" :-D Although I am now reading your posts with a Scottish accent!!! Ok if you have Neds, and we have Chavs, what is the American equivalent word?

I actually found it a bit baffling when a bloke on here called me a cunt, I am so used to it usually being a male-associated insult. My brain was like 'Why is he calling me a cunt, does he think I am a bloke?' I don't find it an insulting word, but I now understand why the poster used it so readily, because of the perceived reaction it might have got.

Something else occurred to me, men are called creepy by women, where as women are called 'psycho' by men. Whether the two words alike is an aside, but it was one other word that men use for women that you rarely heard a woman call a guy a psycho.

A strange thing here is dinner and tea, now I call it breakfast, lunch and dinner, with supper later, but Brits call dinner tea. For me, tea is well, tea as in the drink, with cakes or biscuits, perhaps served about 3pm ish.

Ohhhh I seeee. I knew about vacation but assumed it was just an alternative, I would have said 'I am on vacation'. I'd never fake being an American with any success! Taking a vacation.... hmmm... I guess sometimes we would say taking a holiday,if it was in reference to taking some time off work.

Supporting positions such as free birth control for all women, but not men Ok, I shall say this in the most unaggressive tone possible, can you actually show me where I have said that? Because it is the opposite of what I support. and free childcare services for all women makes And where I said that too, because I think subsidised childcare, creches etc would enable more men to be able to be primary carers, and win custody battle without having to worry about losing work while they raise childre…

There needs to be a reddit of 'Americanisms' and 'Englishisms' :-) One thing I find odd, when chatting to American friends on Skype is use of the word 'fix'. "I am just going to fix some coffee" "Come round and I will fix you some dinner" Brits say make dinner, or coffee, fixing is something you do things that are broken :-)

Most of the time the word dick and dickhead are attached to something definite. Guy's being a jerk, well he's a dick. He's sleeping around? What a dick! Guys are able to rationalize why the word is thrown at them and pretty much own it in the process because it's always triggered by something. Spot on. I use the word dick or dickhead when a man is acting like an idiot, or a jerk. Same as I would use the term silly bitch for a woman behaving the same. As an aside, if anyone is interested, in Sout…

This subreddit is also full of feminists obsessed with maintaining their hegemony in the mainstream who do all sorts of lame trolling and downvoting because they see the writing on the wall. Looks like Cliffor has made another account in any case given the PM spam you got. Not nearly as many subreddits as those involved with MR. By the way, I think you should compare the populations of specific subreddits. I think you'll find that the MR subreddits have far, far greater populations than the feminist subreddits. Really? I might take a look, I am still getting used to navigating Reddit at the moment, and I am still finding new reddits every day. I was just surprised to find it stretches out so far and to so many reddits.

If you want to comment here, you'll just have to accept a certain amount of hostility, at least at first. Women who have been here longer, such as rantgrrl and girlwriteswhat, have earned a reputation as true supporters, and are welcomed as such. But it might take months or weeks to be accepted. Nah it is cool, really :-) I shouldn't have to 'work' for acceptance, either I am taken on my own terms or not at all, regardless of my gender. Thick skin is not my problem, you may have noticed I am hard…

Yeah I can understand that, I think any woman who wanders onto here expecting to be welcome with open arms simply because she is anti-feminist, is naive. However the forum sidebar and FAQs state it is not anti-women, and it is a pity that some men choose to be the opposite of that. I know I sound like a broken record, but it does nothing to benefit the forum and makes the jobs of feminist trolls much easier.

I looked at a couple of your threads, and it appears that in some cases you instigated the exchange of insults. Like this: Yes a coupleof threads. I make so secret of my intolerance to stupidity. and ironically the same stupidity is rife on here as it is on feminist reddits. In another case, after receiving a rather rude response, you escalated aggressively: You call that escalation? I can't. If women see this place as being automatically suspicious of their motives based entirely on their purported gender (something very easy to fake on the internet), then that is a serious problem. Well that is how I am feeling it, but certainly not from all members here, the vast majority are just fine. But I do feel I should be putting disclaimers at the end of my posts! No that is a very good point, there is all this focus about keeping fathers with their children, making sure they are part of their life, being there at the birth etc but I doubt very much that is taken into consideration when sentencing like it is for women.
/r/MensRights13/08/11 02:37 PM

Ohhh I see. Yes women here get offended by it, not sure why because it is just a slang word for vagina. But I have most often seen it used by men against men, which has always struck me as odd because it is female parts. Thanks for clarification. You can carry on agro now if ya like.
/r/MensRights13/08/11 02:25 PM

Mainly I disagree with your argument that paying for other people's children would help both men and women (Equally, as you imply). Women would have even less incentive to stay married, or even get married, for that matter, as they could be almost completely supported by the government. Once again, you want ME to pay for your fucking shit. It's so very ironic that Feminists, who proclaim themselves as independent so frequently want other people to support them and their responsibilities. There is nothing we can do about sex based ability differences. Gender choices go across the entire culture, so it is unlikely that government intrusion would be effective; all we can do is collectively fight the enforcement of gender roles. Oddly enough I made a similiarly-related comment on another thread, but not nearly so eloquently :-). Which just leaves babies. Physiology does matter, denying it is hypocritical. Both feminists and MRAs do it for different reasons. It has NOTHING to do with equality and everything to do with common sense, the latter seems to be lacking on here. It is any excuse to show a woman may or may not be having a better treatment than a man, it is doing EXACTLY what the MRAs in here moan about the feminists doing!! The sooner someone grows a fucking brain and realises that, the better.

It really irks me when papers are 'edited' like this. Makes a sensationalist title just because it is in mensrights. The title is Understanding current causes of women's underrepresentation in science They reviewed and reprised research from the last 20 yrs looking at why women were under-represented in science, and whether they were still subject to the same discrimination as they have done in the past. The looked at several different areas, including hiring, grant allocation, peer reviewing et…

I was expecting someone to make that comment, and yes I would not want to see any kid that aged banged up without given help, especially one that was about to bring new life into the world. This will inflame some here, but making such a comparison is a moot point, men cannot get pregnant. Trying to argue for equal treatment when the difference is physical, and cannot be changed is the same tactic I see many feminists use, but only when it suits them. Men and women are different physically, and u…

I have just been hunting for that too but couldn't find the whole report in its entirety, but it might be ahead of publication, not sure how business schools publish their papers/reports. Look at it this way-provided you allow your son and her to still maintain a relationship in the future, you are not taking him away from her. She is mentally ill and not receiving the right treatment and help for it, she may not be bothered about it but her behaviour is classic example of the stress. But she may recover eventually, and be able to be a good influence in your sons life. Is there any way you could 'soften' her by suggesting to her that you have your son most of the time to 'give he…

I'd be interested to see these stats cross referenced with the areas the children were brought up in, my guess is the vast majority would come from deprives, inner city high crime areas. It is as much about a failure to parent jointly, as much as the father being absent IMO.

Does this not rather imply that men cannot control their sexual urges unless they can watch pornography? Unless I am missing something, most men are pretty decent individuals who find the idea of rape abhorrent. IMO if a man wants to go out and rape then he will do, regardless of access to porn.

It is more of a culture and upbringing that coming from being fatherless or in a matriarchal ghetto ( good phrase). Actually, there is a lot more going on in this case than is reported, I only know this because it happened not far from where I live. My view- she should put the name on the certificate, if she can, This is mainly for the child's benefit than anything to do with the father. A child is entitled to know who is father is, even if he is a total asshole. I also found it interesting that they point out the house was immaculate so no abuse was expected. If it was a shit-hole they may have investigated further, but didn't because they went on what they saw and ignored the signs. Abuse doesn't just happen in a dirty flat on a run down estate by a drunken man, but that is the perception that lead to this girl suffering for as long as she did.

Im sick of women making excuse's for other women's bad behaviour, and bullshitting the rest of us that men are just as big a problem. Seriously are you for real?? Why not post over on antimensrights, assuming you don't already. It is a much better place for your particular 'attitude' ... they will love …

Go away More eloquence. Do you have a problem with women being on this reddit by any chance? Or is it just you don't like anyone picking holes in what you say? Heat-kitchen.

Why why why? Do women deny the absolute blindingly obvious? Which is what? Do you actually have anything else or are you just grasping now?

"The woman's husband, Joseph Horvath, was convicted by a jury in 2009 and also sentenced to multiple life terms." It was both of them responsible for the abuse. But your point that it is men that are the expected abusers and not women is still very valid.

Yup, it has been clarified for me now too as to why it happens. So far I have only ever encountered 1 'genuine' poster on Mensrights who appears to have a bad attitude towards women, and likes to post up as many provocative, negative comments as possible. Everyone else has been just fine, even when I have questioned what they say. :-)

You keep saying this is an isolated incident No I said it has appeared in the papers because of who her husband was. but people arnt stupid. No but some appear to be more myopic than others... People know full well that women lie and accuse And they also know that men lie and accuse. they know it from their everyday dealings with women, they know it from their friends, they know it from the media and cases like the one in the thread title. That's a novel view, I would say they know it because th…

Lets face it, women are born liars and accusers. Oh yeah for sure. And we all hate men too. First thing I am doing tomorrow is reporting you to the mods for disagreeing with me and saying women are liars... Woman makes false allegations against ex-husband, who just happens to be a well-respected doctor and this is why it is deemed newsworthy, hence several papers run the same stories. If he has been a bin man it would not have been featured. Before trumpeting a 'Anti feminist media' story, think …

No I am not, I am tongue-in-cheek about it. I look at the militant feminist with an expression of 'Really? Are you serious" and occasionally a 'WTF?' attitude, but mostly I am bemused by the whole movement.

(Chuckles at friends comment) :-) How do I feel about what? Redditors on here making negative comments about women? Especially ones taken out of context. Playground tactics. I don't give a flying fuck honey, that is what real empowerment is, not the tripe spouted on feminist reddits.

Not in terms of physical violence perhaps, but in terms of false accusations, anything from using their credit card without permission to not being the father of their child, it is just part of a messy break up.

It's not hard to see what's going on here. No it isn't, I am learning that now, I really did think it was just my 2X view. I don't frequent the againstmensrights or feminist reddits, and rarely visit 2XC these days. I am morphing into an anti-woman woman! :-)

:-) I have no idea how to see another members reddit birthday yet... I am still fairly new to reddit, liking most of it and learning new things. I mostly frequent the science/biology reddits, but managed to get fed up of 2XC reddit fairly quickly, hence stumbling across this reddit, much more perspective here. I am not new to Ok Cupid though and your story is common, and happens to me with men too. Take it in your stride. :-)

I have noticed that happen in my short time here, I thought it was just my view as a 2X but some of the stories posted really don't do the reddit any favours IMO. Just posting up any story because it has a slight woman-did-wrong-to-man-and-was-outed theme seems a bit overblown.

Nothing that comes out of the DM can be trusted. Wife makes false allegations against husband and is overruled, the opposite happens too. This happens a lot in cases of bitter break ups. The only reason it was newsworthy was because of his job.

Seems like feminism is now used as an excuse for people to be extremely crappy to another subset of people, in the same way as religion has been used, and football hooliganism excused as a way to control coerce and attack others.

What a load of crap! She has no idea of how drug companies work, and how the press releases work. Assuming you have a new drug that does suppress sperm production without affecting long term fertility, it will take about 10 years to get it from bench to the market. The stories that appear are put out as a matter of course from both academic researchers and drug companies, usually when they have made another significant step. R&D is ongoing, not static. Would I trust a random guy I met in a club …

Agree with your post totally. It seems that somewhere in amongst feminism and sexism, we ( as women) have forgotten that some men can behave like dickheads and shout juvenile things. So what? It is not some new phenomena, and by whining, blogging and writing articles on how oppressed it is blah blah blah gives those same dickheads more attention, and 'power' than they would have had they just simply been ignored. Empowerment is about not giving a damn if some jerk shouts something at you, knowin…

It's hard to believe that the same feminists who are (apparently) for gender equality seem to not hold back when it comes to abortion disputes and keep stating men have no right to hold an opinion. So here's the thing: why the sudden awareness of gender differences? Equality is only for women against men :-) IMO it is a stupid term that is bandied about without thought or reason. Unless I grow a penis, or men grow a vagina, we will never be the same, and that is something that should be celebrat…

My gf has wicked insecurities. She's overweight and has major body issues. I used to date models but they were all high maintenence and I didn't like my friends eye humping my dates. I tried dating a 'bigger girl', and she's even more nuts than the rest. Yuh, unfortunately you seem to be getting a lot of the insecure freaks, that has little to do with size and everything to do with emotional standing and personality. Figures around 30% are also from more recent findings such as the American Association of Blood Banks study in 1999 which found 30% of 280,000 (!!!) blood tests excluded a man as the father. Laboratories keep consistently reporting 25% or higher I am intrigued, do you have any citations or references or links? I can go on a pubmed hunt but if you have anything better or written in an article that would be useful.

It is still interesting to see the 30% number is based on a finding from over 40 years ago, that is as misleading to the rape and sexual harassment stats that are falsified by the militant feminists. (noted in the sidebar). On a side note, it is worth mentioning that some men do pursue paternity testing as a way of being nasty to the woman, and being petty, they don't always have real doubts about being the child's father, but are doing it out of spite. Equally when break ups happen, rumours can…

Lol thanks :-) It comes from being treated badly by men..... ( tongue in cheek comment!!) Yeah I do wonder why people choose to flip out at the 3rd party, unless it is a friend or family in which case the betrayal is doubly so. Better to have a "hey you are welcome to him now honey, I am done with him, and I always pass down my leftovers".
/r/MensRights07/08/11 02:34 PM

Well there is always that possibility, but when someone deliberately posts something to turn the discussion in a negative manner, or to purposely wind you up, the only way to treat them is with humour/sarcasm IMO. Men can be assholes, but not all assholes are men.
/r/MensRights07/08/11 02:31 PM

Yeah it is a tough one to break. A man wont cheat if he doesn't want to, nor will a woman. But people are human, and as such make mistakes. Point is that no amount of controlling will prevent it, if it is going to happen then it will happen. My view is that the more you control and man and accuse him of cheating, or think he will cheat, the more unhappy the relationship becomes. When that happens it is more likely that either partner may cheat, or leave their partner because of the mistrust, her…

Humour/sarcasm is usually the best line. My reply would have been something like " Hey I know, you would have thought with all the nagging and me keeping him under the thumb he would have changed by now! I guess I am just not up to the job! :-) "

What pisses me off is that he has to do all this shit just to keep her insecurites at bay. She can't treat him like he can't keep from sticking his dick in other people. Yet if the opposite were to happen the man would be accused of being controlling, domineering and obsessive. But with a women it is 'insecurity'. I get insecure, I'd like to meet a person who can hand on heart say they never feel insecure. My attitude is more of a 'fuck you' attitude, if any man I am with wants to go and sleep w…

Guardians include the father and only one guardian is required. Now, in most marriages, asking consent from the mother is asking for trouble and strife and the requirement to do so is a major obstacle for men with a bit of doubt. This law does not prevent a discreet test taking place, regardless of what the various articles appear to be saying. The OP mentions is within marriage, fathers married to the mothers at the time of birth have automatic parental responsibility, the same with men who joi…

This clears him of being the father of the child, it does not clear him of having sex, consensual or otherwise with an 11 yr old girl who he was supposed to be supervising. Given that there were other men/boys involved, it could well be the girl falsely accused him to cover her own bad behaviour. But this doesn't clear him of rape, and doesn't mean he did not rape her. But even if the sex was consensual, with a girl that young, he is still a scumbag IMO.

This came up in a discussion on 2X a few days ago, seems that Brit law still stands as defining rape as with a penis. Which is why I dislike discussions of 'rape' rather than 'sexual violation' or 'sexual assault' - well, the legal definition issue and the fact it gets completely emotive and irrational within seconds. Indeed, I was accused of being a female rape denier because I questioned people's views on the dictionary definition, which was what the post was about. Explaining the same thing o…

While the questions you raise about the accuracy of reports are in themselves interesting, they pale before the outright lies issued by feminist organizations : DV rates tripling during Superbowl, 20% of female ER visits being the results of DV, etc. Over here, there is an increase in DV reports when the footie World Cup ( soccer) is on, however I consider that as related to violent men spending more time in the pub. and drinking more than usual, combined with elevated testosterone levels. We al…

That is a really good article :-) Hurrah someone who sees things in the same was I do! I am loathe to shed my feminist label, only because of what it has meant to me personally over the years, but because the label now defines me as something I am not, it is time for a change.

As to labeling yourself anti-feminist, I'm not suggesting you should (I certainly wouldn't call myself that : skeptical-pain-in-the-ass suits me just fine ;). Just that you look at the feminist views on history or social issues with a critical eye, and if like me you find out it's all bogus, that you speak up when falsehoods are bandied about in a Nth attempt to vilify men. Good starting subjects are rape stats, domestic violence and pay gap. Yup, I studied sociology before I came over to the da…

Don't worry, it's cool. I found your post comment to be agreeable. I would disagree with this however Thank you :-) I think the accomplishments of feminism in the past is really over-hyped. Most of the so-called 'liberation' of women was accomplished by the second world war and the invention of the washing machine and the microwave oven. While feminism certainly helped at times it mostly just went along for the ride and takes waay too much credit for our current gender situation. Well in terms o…

Thank you :-) You will also find that the whole feminist narrative of female history as one of oppression is about as bogus as their condemnation of men as a class. Women have been part of every social class, from conquerors to slaves, aristocracy to serfdom, and within those classes have shared the lot of their male counterparts, good and bad. It could also be argued that - within those classes - they have been wooed, provided for and protected at every stage, and that to call that oppression t…

XX here (first post here, don't throw cushions at me yet!) :-) Just my views, feminism has had it's place, and still has it's place to ensure women get the rights they are entitled too. However, society was not created by one man, or even by one group of men, it has evolved from past traditions and association that are no longer acceptable, to both men and women. This does not mean every single man in the world is responsible for how women have been treated in the past, and are being treated now…
