Strategies to get a narcissist to settleMy ex suddenly became reasonable 2 days before trial. Before that, it was 19 months of pure ridiculous bullshit. Get a trial date and hunker down. | /r/Divorce_Men | 15/12/22 03:28 PM
[MO} Other lawyer hasn't filed their discovery papers yet. Any idea what that could mean?My STBXW, was over due on discovery on multiple occasions. My lawyer had to file two separate motions to compel, of which the judge finally ordered the production of documents. This is in Ohio. It's been. A glorious waste of time and money. My STBXW isn't very bright either and her lawyer seems to match that energy. Don't know if it's ignorance or some sort of strategy to drag the divorce out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/11/22 03:05 AM
Fathers; Did you get equal custody after trial even though mother disagreed?Stay strong my friend. In Lake County Ohio here. Get a guardian ad litem. Have your lawyer petition for one to evaluate based on the children's best interests. I "won" 50/50 after ex capitulated literally the day of our trial. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/11/22 10:49 PM
My win still feels like a lossAfter a 17 month custody battle, where I was seeking 50/50 and shared legal custody, we finally signed an agreement that gives me equal time and rights as a father. Everyone says I should be celebrating - however I felt anything but happy. Angry at the process, at the ex, sad for my kids, etc. Feel all you feel, let yourself process, and give yourself some grace. Now there's just finances to finalize - sitting at court waiting for my settlement conference. Hoping to finalize today. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/11/22 03:58 PM
What's the majority take on marriage here? Just stay away?Unless she makes more money, there are zero benefits to getting married and numerous certain penalties for doing so. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/10/22 01:50 AM
[US] parenting planWhy not do one week on, one week off. I'd think with your youngest at 8 years old this shouldn't be a problem. You can maintain contact with video calls / FaceTime during the time that they are at the other parent's house. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/10/22 01:47 AM
What are some green flags for picking a future wife? This is the way | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/10/22 01:43 AM
Going to Court - F it..I tried this about 6 months in. Get this, she filed a motion for harassment! Claiming I was getting between her and her lawyer, manipulating, and harassing. Lol - I tried, but gave up being logical. Marching to trial at the end of October. If she decides to be reasonable at the last second and settle, that's fine. But I am demanding 50/50 custody, late ting time, and marital assets split. Guardian ad litem has already recommended an equal custody split. Ex is just waiting until the bitter end to… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/10/22 04:35 PM
had mediation Thursday, I need to vent...If your ex isn't playing ball and treating you like an equal parent, then you have nothing to lose. I was pleasantly surprised, my woman GAL has recommended shared legal custody and equal 50/50 parenting time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/09/22 10:11 PM
had mediation Thursday, I need to vent...Don't give up. I've been fighting for 16 months. Get your lawyers take on it, but also get them to request a guardian ad litem to evaluate what's in the best interests of the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/09/22 03:22 AM
You can't make this shit up.You lucky dog. I'm envious of you at this point lol | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/08/22 12:23 PM
Never give up and never let anyone determine your self worth!Get a lawyer and immediately file a parenting plan for 50/50. Request a guardian ad litem to decide what's best on behalf of the kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/08/22 09:04 PM
Always the bad guy.Why tf are you watching her two other kids that aren't yours? Do you charge her? Stop being a doormat and expecting to be treated any differently. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/06/22 11:50 PM
Need divorce help! (Male, 32, w 2 kids)Considering divorcing my wife..w/2 kids*. Reconciliation is bleak at this point. We have a house together. I want to move out and get my own place ASAP. How do I do this right? I'm so sick of the relationship my wife and I have. We both deserve better.Interview lawyers, pick one that seems reasonable, pay the retainer, and file for divorce ASAP. You do not want your wife to fire first with a false domestic violence protection order. My ex did this, and it's been an uphill battle ever since with regard to settling custody. You have been warned. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/06/22 01:02 AM
What’s the most ridiculous thing your ex spent on with the child support money you paid?Mine did too!! | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/05/22 02:10 AM
Serious: why the common advice to be cordial and civil w/WS?Emotionally decouple from your ex. This is the way. I'm 80% of the way there... | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/05/22 08:27 PM
Serious: why the common advice to be cordial and civil w/WS?Me too | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/05/22 07:55 PM
Is this sub only for men that have been screwed over by their ex?So my ex cheated, blew up our family, filed a restraining order saying she was "scared" of how I'd react to her filing divorce. I was pissed at her cheating. Did I handle it well, no. But I know of few people who would. Now I'm in a protracted custody battle. Was I responsible for issues in our relationship, sure. But did I go fuck around and betray my wife? Hell no. I was loyal to the bitter end, to a fault. I wanted to repair our marriage even after discovering multiple affairs. So yeah, you'l… | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/04/22 10:59 AM
I need an aggressive and competent attorneyYeah I have proof of infidelity too. I will concur that it means nothing. At best, in some states, it allows for a "reason" to expedite the divorce without the required separation period (varies per state). However, when you add in lawyer shenanigans and custody battle, you're looking at a protracted separation period anyway. Hopefully things will go smoother for you, but be prepared. Also, it's not too important who files first. Sure all the garbage in the filing stings to read, but it really d… | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/04/22 01:30 AM
Not sure what the right thing to do isIf your parenting plan doesn't state that you have to pay tuition or childcare costs, then I'd tell her to fuck off. That's what child support helps with. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/04/22 07:51 PM
50/50 Custody and Child supportIn Ohio here. Child support here, and in most states, is a worksheet that auto calculates the amount of child support to be paid. If there is an income disparity between the two parties, even if 50/50 physical custody, child support will be paid. The recipient of child support can spend it on whatever they damn well please. It's complete bullshit. In other countries (UK), I'm told that if there is 50/50 physical custody, no support is awarded. This country sometimes really really sucks. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/22 09:58 PM
Two days into divorce adviceShe's probably cheating. My best advice is to start separating finances and establishing a rainy day fund (in cash). You are probably going to need it | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/04/22 01:58 AM
I’d rather hire escorts than deal with another relationshipI completely, 100% agree. However, my current issue, while divorce is pending and in the middle of a custody battle, is finding a legit escort. I fear getting busted, and tanking my custody case. So I'm celibate for now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/04/22 01:23 AM
I kind of expected that finding a new lady would be faster/easier post divorce than it has beenHappiness is from within. If you continue seeking outside sources to fill a void within you, then you are doomed to make the same mistakes. Quit seeking happiness and validation thru women. Do some individual therapy, get a nanny so that you have free time to reconnect with hobbies and friends. Focus on you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/04/22 01:06 PM
Asset Protection?This is the way | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/03/22 12:16 AM
My soon to be Ex-wife almost made me cry from laughterMy ex basically said the same thing. Was upset that I told people about her "indiscretions". It's comical now, but at the time I was just angry as fuck. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/03/22 10:24 PM
Am I screwed? You need a lawyer, like yesterday. Stop asking strangers for advice and seek legal counsel. You need to protect yourself and your children's future. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/03/22 04:15 AM
Settlement meeting tomorrow, odd behaviorMy ex is doing the same thing! Willing to "give" me 6 days every 2 weeks, but is digging her heels in over 1 day for equal 50/50. I requested a GAL whose investigation is to wrap up next month. I have already told my lawyer I am not interested in mediation , and am requesting a court date. I'm tired of all the delay tactics... | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/01/22 02:30 AM
I have one foot out the door after 25 years. Just wondering what the silence in the house is like or eating out alone all the time. Going to movies alone or to the pub alone. Never want to get tied down again. Would rather be single forever.I absolutely love being alone. It was actually one of the main points of contention while we were married, I needed occasional alone time that was rarely granted. Now when the kids are with mommy (almost 50/50 but one day shy, still a work in progress there), I can do what I damn well please! | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/12/21 01:35 PM
How do you know it’s over and not worth the fight?I found out it was over, and too late, the second the sheriff showed up to serve me an ex-parte protector order based on bullshit made up abuse accusations. Basically ex wanted me out of the house, gain a leg up in divorce proceedings, and create her own narrative to deflect away from her multiple extramarital affairs. Don't do what I did. If your wife is cheating, file for divorce immediately and get a lawyer. You can always reconcile (but shouldn't) later. Don't wait around for her to fire the… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/09/21 03:45 AM
Help I am lostThis sounds awful, however there is a silver lining. She's out of your life and not around to complicate custody arrangements! I'm currently in a custody battle with my adulterous ex wife. So, like others, I suggest you get a lawyer and make the current "arrangement" legal. That way, she can't just come knocking on your door one day when she wakes up and suddenly wants primary custody. | /r/Divorce_Men | 05/09/21 03:13 AM
Financial strategies or precautions for the unmarried men who browse here?Same here brother. Oh how history is rewritten.. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/09/21 08:33 PM
