Minus the kids, same exact boat as you. I’m very sorry you’re going through this. It’s a surreal pain. I am here if you want to talk

I can half relate about the mental decline and the pushback regarding therapy and couples counseling. I’m not sure what it is either. Once a partner has decided on something, no matter how life altering it may be, they’re settled in that mindset. This seems to be more common with women or at least more calculated/methodical. The more I pushed for emotional proximity, the more she drifted. Once the detachment starts, she may look at the person she was in the marriage in total revulsion. Whatever …

Maybe idk I know it’s over, it has to be, but i intrusively think in my pity that maybe we could work this out. But no, not going there.

She took my car to the hotel, parked it in plain view of the street, I was driving by in my other car for work, and I spotted it. It’s very obvious it’s my car because she had crashed it a couple years ago, so the body was distinctly mismatched. I had my suspicion something was going on. Had slow built up a case of secret vanishing messages on her Instagram. I tried to play the long game as much as possible while still putting my absolute trust and faith in her, and then got the concrete proof. …

About to go through the same. She moves quick, but as others have pointed out about yours, they had ended it mentally long before the fact. It may seem quick to you, but this has been in the works for her, whether consciously or not. It’s also a trauma response to “monkey branch”/get back out there asap. It’s a scorch earth tactic to completely dismantle and detach from the person they were in the marriage. Don’t take it personally. Focus on your moves. You are both playing different games now.

to better tomorrows 🤝 Nothing good comes from moving the way she did. There’s gonna be a wall she’ll hit eventually.

I’m still struggling with this. I know she’s not there anymore, but then our eyes meet, and I see that bit of her I fell in love with. But yeah fuck that, it’s only a ghost.

Hey man, same here. It’s gut wrenching and I’m so lost about it. You have to keep a cool face around her though. Vent and pour to anyone you can trust or even as a stranger to other strangers (like here), but not her, not right now. It sucks and you gotta accept the end or at least act like it. Def easier said than done but I’m trying. It’s been close to a month since she brought up divorce now. Some days are easier and some harder.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
