1	Advice to men: It is very difficult or impossible to recover financially from a divorce after a long marriage, you are almost always better off hiding assets and risking a penalty vs certainty of lower living standard for the rest of your life “This lump-sum investment beats inflation during this period for an inflation-adjusted return of about 42,411.66% cumulatively, or 6.58% per year.” So this theoretical construct returned real 6.58%. The situation is quite complicated.. a child is adult, episodically employed, and technically not disabled but with severe mental issues - depression, panic attacks, ADD. Spouse after a stroke (but drives and is capable to work), English is second language, not inclined to work. Vocational assessment says she can work basic duties and make up to $30,000.
