I've seen so many people saying that the biggest issue for women is men, but then are against anything that would help men's mental health

I'd imagine he doesn't have standing unless he joins the service. Otherwise, they could say since he's paying the tax, the compulsory service isn't the thing doing him harm, the tax is

Ya, I think we understand you think that lol

Nah, I had already been explicity clear several times that it's an indicator and NOT causative by that point, definitely on you for not asking for clarification when I had not only already explained that, but had also asked for clarification on things from you Plus, I had literally just mentioned "substance use disorders, and things like BPD" a comment or two before it. Not understanding that If you think it's a stereotype, then show that higher numbers of sexual parterns is a stereotype of subs…

Ah, I see where the confusion is. "Mental health issues that cause poor impluse control" are various disorders like ADHD, BPD, Bipolar Disorder, and others. The sentance doesn't make sense if you use "cause" in the way you explained unless we ignore a whole bunch of other words

Where, because this is the last quote I see from you. Feel free to check it yourself though! If you think it's a stereotype, then show that higher numbers of sexual parterns is a stereotype of substance abuse and mental health issues that cause poor impulse control rather than a correlation

I just went through all of our comments, and the only times I ever mentioned anything being causative was when I said: a partner with a lot of promiscuity can sometimes be what leads to men's other problems like paternity issues, divorce, mental health issues ect And then almost directly after when I said: Having a partner that's promiscuous can definitely cause paternity issues, divorce, and mental heath issues to a person, so I'm not sure what you mean by saying it's not causative Is that what…

Because I, from the beginning, said it wasn't causation, but was an indicator/correlation. You however DID say it was a "tenuous stereotype". Now where's the proof?

I gave you 4 proofs that do, did you not read them?

Sure, I'll lay it out precisely Originally I asked for proof that what we've been talking about (higher numbers of sexual partners) is specifically a "tenuous stereotype", as you claimed. You didn't give any and instead asked proof from me, of which I provided, that it was a documented correlation. Now that I've given proof that there's a documented correlation, which is more than a "tenuous stereotype", I'm asking again for proof that it is a "tenuous stereotype", or if your claim is now that t…

The connection is a far, far stronger one than the tenuous stereotypes being thrown around here. You're the one that called them stereotypes, which is what I asked for proof of. I've given proof of our stance, give proof of yours

Nah, I specifically said it wasn't causation, now you're just being dishonest I'm also not asking you to prove a negative, you had a claim that the relationship between a high number of sexual partners is only a stereotype for people with substance disorders and mental illnessess that cause impulse control. It's less than what I'm claiming, but not a negative

If you're saying it's on me to prove that higher numbers of sexual partners is a correlation, then sure I guess, even though I was the one that asked for proof first: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC27440/ https://ehe.osu.edu/news/listing/how-poor-mental-health-casual-sex-reinforce-each-other https://www.montclair.edu/profilepages/media/3582/user/Oredein_&_Delnevo.pdf https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23742031/

You can break things in anger and not be an abuser, which by the logic you've been using means "it's not related, but you're pretending it is"
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 03:05 AM
5

Well ya, the whole idea is that it's AN indicator. They're not diagnosing people, they're trying to protect themselves. If you find out a partner has a history of breaking things when angry, that doesn't mean they're an abuser, but at the same time that doesn't mean it's meaningless either Also, there are different studies that link high numbers of sexual partners to substance use disorders, and things like BPD
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 02:56 AM
2

So to be clear, are you saying that high numbers of sexual partners are not an indicator of mental health issues?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 02:42 AM
3

How so?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 02:38 AM

Think of it like this: Finding a lump in a sensitive area doesn't mean you have cancer, either, but would you say that's just connecting issues that don't have to be connected?

The things you want to avoid directly are more often hidden, lied about, or undiscovered until the harm is inevitable, or has already been done. As such, indicators like this are useful on their own, but especially when added together with others
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 02:20 AM

We're going around in a bit of a circle now, but... If a high number of sexual partners is an indicator of mental health issues, and a partner with mental health issues is more likely to harm you in some way, why wouldn't having high numbers of sexual partners be something to consider/talk about?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 01:25 AM
6

Right, and they're claiming that a partner with mental health issues is more likely to do something to harm you than one that doesn't
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 01:16 AM
8

Right, neither of the other commenters are saying that isn't the truth. What they're saying is a partner's past actions are indicative of their current and future ones For instance, as the second commenter said, lots of sexual partners are indicative of mental health issues. Mental health issues lead to the things the first commenter mentioned. That doesn't mean lots of sexual partners is inherently a bad thing, but it becomes seen as a bad thing because of what it indicates

Having a partner that's promiscuous can definitely cause paternity issues, divorce, and mental heath issues to a person, so I'm not sure what you mean by saying it's not causative
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 12:29 AM
3

If it weren't for all the other things, would lots of sex even be a problem?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 12:20 AM
9

The first person you were talking about said that while it's probably not as big an issue as other men's issues, a partner with a lot of promiscuity can sometimes be what leads to men's other problems like paternity issues, divorce, mental health issues ect The second person said the promiscuity can be indicative of mental health issues of the partner themselves, too Why does there need to be a wrong end on this?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/07/26 12:12 AM
18

That's the opposite of what they're saying. They're saying that people with mental health issues generally have sex with more partners, not that sex with more partners gives you mental heath issues

Can you post some sources for those claims? I've always heard that 2-10% is not counting the unfounded categorization

I know this is from 3 months ago, but did you confuse this poster with someone else? They never said anything about needing a formal study done for anything

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
