Funny enough, I had watched it 3 days prior? That's why I after paying for dinner I was almost positive that I wasn't going to see him again.

This is more of a "reflect and record" thing for me. I wanted to put everything down somewhere where I could come back and reference it while it was still fresh. The added bonus is that maybe later, someone might be in a similar situation and they can think about this as a bit of a cautionary tale. So, I'm not beating myself up as much as I am acknowledging the points where I could have better followed my intuition. Also, the "let me up with you, I just want to sleep, I promise I won't try anyth…

Men like to take strong women and break them down. They just do. It is an actual thing. It validates them on a sick level. Yep! That's why you have so many unpicked pick-mes. A lot of these NVM, vvm dudes could have a woman who would do all of the stuff that they claim they want a woman to do, and happily. But they want the one who they have to push and destroy and force into it. It's the same with guys who future-fake a woman who wants a relationship so that they can have sex instead of just ho…

Yeah. One of the hardest things for me to deal with is the feeling of guilt? or unsteadiness? after I enforce a boundary. I used to be such a people pleaser, so standing my ground, especially when somebody else will be disappointed or hurt because of it, is still difficult. I do it. But it often feels like I'm doing something wrong. You also made a good point about the anger that a lower earning man will feel towards a woman who makes more than them. I realize that, through little more than fort…

Yeah, this post was basically a reflection so that I could put down in words where I went wrong and what I could have done better. This could have just been an entry in my journal, but I wanted other women to see it and learn from my mistakes. I'm an other back home and an other here. In a lot of ways, they often play out the same, but I'm seeing differences the longer I'm here.

The best one being you did not let him pressure his way into your room. Fell for that once in college. All it got me was PTSD.

For some reason, we have no differentiation between "a man of the house" and "a man in the house." And it causes a lot of homes to be way more broken than they would have been had the women just gone it alone

And a lot of the dads will lie to their kids about how much they're doing. Because the kids still have contact with their father; he's just useless. One woman's tactic was brilliant. Her son would ask his father for things like a new pair of shoes or a new coat. His father would say 'ask your mom to take it out of the money I give her for you.' Dad also said it in a way that was clearly him accusing the mother of using that money on herself. So the son used the same wording when he asked the mot…

Oh definitely scammed. I could tell that was the goal when he asked for the money for the room, and my paying for dinner was the test. But between hotel staff not caring (literally watching this go down) and the way cops here handle altercations between foreigners and locals, my final decision was this: Do I stay in this lobby all night arguing or do I give this man the equivalent of my DoorDash bill back home and block him in the elevator? I chose the second.

Absolutely not. Here, the best way is to scan QR codes to get the proper links, so you have to see the code. I did it all myself, but after I got here. I didn't even hand people my phone to make calls back home.

Because I'm in a place where an altercation between a local and a foreigner is ALWAYS the foreigner’s fault. Hotel staff watched this go down and did nothing, so I don't really trust the cops to handle it fairly.

I saw this original post on Facebook. It's writer essentially says that she speaks about it as being an issue in the black community because of how often she sees it, but also notes that she can't speak on it happening anywhere else because she doesn't have those perspectives.

Well, the social group strategy Flair doesn't mean that people outside that group can't read the post. What it means is that the discussion should be held by women from that group because they understand much more of the interplay and foundation for why these things happen. It mostly keeps people from being loud and wrong in the replies. It also keeps people from harping on what is a harmless aspect of the culture that's just unfamiliar while ignoring the glaring issue at hand.

And it also sounds like she wouldn't be "giving up" much. Dance recital, pride at her child's accomplishment over the unbridled joy and privilege to suck a peen? It's much less about her wanting to share the accomplishment and more not having her child be disappointed yet again. This is not really about men who disappear as soon as that positive pregnancy test comes out. This is about men who began raising the child, their kid has a relationship with him, and the mother decides that she no longe…

Yeah, this should really have the "social group strategy" flair because it was written by, for, and about African American women specifically. I'm really glad that the comments on the original post were very well curated. I saw a couple people trying to derail and dismiss, but a lot of the people who haven't had that experience, were mostly just saying how astounded they were at how many women were talking about what they had to do or what they're not doing. I have friends who are single mothers…

I prefer the "body neutrality" movement much more for these reasons. what's with the THING that's been going on a while, where on one hand, everyone is beautiful, nooooooo you're not ugly, don't say that! (Substitute "fat", same thing). It makes no sense to me at all: clearly some people are conventionally attractive. There's a big difference between being the man of the house and being a man in the house. If you are just a man in the house, you can make your own plate like I did since we're probably splitting every other responsibility. And unevenly at that.

Women in this sub teach me things about investing. They linked me to interesting accounts that do DIY home repair. The women here give each other tips about how to successfully escape abuse and to use mental health resources in an effective manner. They also teach how to spot certain red flags so that we don't get deep into situations that are harmful in the first place.

She actually wrote an interesting article about why her outcome was so much more positive than other child stars. For one, her acting was just something she wanted to do and her family was supportive of, but she was never supporting the family like a lot of other child stars are. Her family was also very involved and pretty much made sure to keep any frightening coverage of scandals and abuses in the industry away from her so that she could just be a kid.

I used to be in a couple of interracial dating discussion groups. White men in those groups hated me because I have no interest in dating a white man. They want to make women so insecure and desperate for them. This this and this. It is apparently too hard for them to be a partner who someone would legitimately want to be with. It's too much work to just be a good person who would then have a partner who enjoys their presence. Better just be an abusive shithead who essentially forces a woman into thinking that she doesn't have another option. She's really not. One of the biggest things that she advocates for is age gap relationships (like 20+ years) and self-improvement for the sake of finding a partner as opposed to for the sake of being happy with yourself. She also advocates for women to use men as a road to financial stability as opposed to being stable before entering relationships. She's basically a sugar baby/ Trophy Wife guide account.

That's not what I was saying. What you find is that when the woman is poorer than the man in the relationship, she's often financially abused. When the woman is wealthier than the man in the relationship, he is more likely to emotionally and physically abused her. So the point of the subreddit emphasizing us establishing our own financial stability over trying to ensure that we are in relationships with financially stable men is more about safety. Same. And as someone who studies language and its usage, it's irritating to have the truth of how it's used be ignored by someone who, quite frankly, lacks the range. White women will converse on this sub about all of the ways that men abuse or deride women to ignore their lived experiences, then use the same tactics on women of color, specifically and very often Black women.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/01/21 05:11 PM

It's funny because that SAME day I saw a cute TT video of a woman and her husband who are both newscasters. They were using their "work voices" to discuss their plans for dinner, then slid back into AAVE at the end when they made the decision. Because that's how language works. And that's a prime example of professionals codeswitching because that's how it's used.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/01/21 05:06 PM

Most don't. And typically, it will only be if their idea of sex is just degrading acts. There are a few who do. It's more likely after their wife has kids than after entering a committed relationship. But there are the rare ones, usually the ones who see sex as something you do to a woman not with a woman, who will have a drop in their sex drive just from commitment.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy21/01/21 12:14 PM

You can definitely see it in how men will say that they don't want to do certain sexual acts with their girlfriend or their wife because they respect her too much. Women can either be respected by these man or sexually desired, but they can't do both because they possess the emotional range and cognitive ability of a coral polyp.

Because different cultures have different notions of respect. There's a whole separation of the "work persona" and the "home persona" that exists. Using your work persona with close friends is a way of distancing them from you. It's because they're all "failed wife candidates." A teen girl, even a generation and a half ago, would have been solidly wife material. In some communities, they still are. However, in areas where teen girls are often mocked you will see that it is because that's what they want, but they are societally barred from taking those women as their wives. They hate single moms for being "failed wife candidates" as well. The idea of a wife is a woman who will bear your children and help you sustain you…

This might be area-specific or time-specific, but people when I was in high school weren't buying class rings anyway. I think the sentimental value for a class ring has largely lost because most of us viewed it as something that you get if high school is is where you peaked.

The guidelines also suggested that men who spent “a lot of money on dates” would expect to be “compensated”. As a woman who participated in casual hookups, I expected to have an orgasm. But I stopped being disappointed and started changing my actions. I now no longer have casual sex with men because if my end goal is an orgasm, I'm just going to do an activity that I know will guarantee one.

Like, $1,500 for a wedding dress isn't even that much. I think they had together saved about $30,000 for the wedding and had ended up like 7,000 under budget. So, there was more than enough money for her dress. Apparently she had explained to him that half the stuff you see on wishes fake and so you can't really trust what you'll get. But if you listen to the verses, you hear that he's the reason all her bills are so high. He drives her car all over town. He's using her phone to call all over the place. He's even using her credit card to go shopping. Just a testament to how we ask for relatively little and are still disappointed.

I'm SUPER casual and I know I've spent like 600 on gaming. That's my console, games, and a couple waves of DLC, PLUS the membership for online play.

Before FDS I used to be somewhat involved with the community. I didn't even really question why I had to go to classes and training to see how to avoid, shut down, and call out all of these harmful behaviors. If your community seems to continually have a problem with these types of people, it may be time to question why this space is so attractive to them. I'm actually in the middle of writing down my experience and really debriefing on paper why that was a place that I felt that I needed and ho…

OK Probably not. You might do the dry cleaners? But that would get expensive. I don't have a lot of clothing that has to be washed by hand, so I'll do those articles in one big batch in the bathtub and hang them up in my apartment. Everything else I'll drop off at the laundromat.

Saw a post on FB that asked "Is your love language acts of service or are you just a woman who has been conditioned to put the needs of other people above your own and now can no longer see any of the traits that actually make you amazing?"

Okay, so I'm in the States but most coin laundries actually have a drop off service in my city. You drop off your clothes, pay by weight, and then you come back a few hours later and your laundry is clean and folded.

And that's exactly what that term was meant to do. It was supposed to make people, quite frankly almost exclusively men, feel unashamed of something that they should literally be going to a professional to fix

She's definitely like a trophy wife coach. I am not a fan of her particularly because she degrades women who wear their natural hair. Also she looks kind of dead-eyed when she talks. Like, I'm sure her life is stable and her daughters will be well taken care of, but she looks like her life is empty. Like she just shops & talks on YouTube and it seems like not much else. ETA: She does tell women to downgrade themselves if they're in a high profession because they don't want to be too intimidating…

So, a few years back it was a trend on Twitter for men to swarm the mentions of attractive women's pictures just to talk about something completely different. Dead talk about sports, movies, travel, food, anything except that woman and what she was doing. The purpose was essentially to show that woman that nobody cared about her. It's funny how in a relationship, you're told to look out for signs of your partner trying to belittle you and make you feel small, make you feel insignificant. You're …

I've had this conversation with my stepdad. He has asked me why I don't date Black men. My response was that I do date black men, but so many of them are not on my level and not willing to participate in the relationship the way that I would require. And I've seen that issue with men of all ethnicities but I found that black men tend to be the most open about not wanting to actually court me.

She was actually nearby when that happened. That's part of the reason that I didn't go as hard on him as I could have; I knew that he would wait until late at night to want to "have a conversation about my behavior" with her and basically keep her from sleeping despite the fact that she worked overtime and was almost always exhausted. He's gone now. But I have so many stories about what awful excuse for a human being this man is.

He was VV gross. My friends, who used to love coming to my house because my mother is very welcoming and warm and kind person, stopped coming around because he was so creepy. Two of my friends said that they felt like he was leering at them when they would come over.

Between a lot of these answers, the fact that guys will often skip over your conversation starter to tell you to start the conversation, and the fact that people will skip your fully explained profile to just like your picture, hinge feels super useless but I find that I waste a lot less time there than on other online dating platforms...

This literally sparked an argument between my mother's boyfriend at the time and myself. Mind you I was a high schooler and this man was 60 something. I didn't take my argument as far as I wanted to because I knew that he would take it out on my mom but essentially he would always touch my waist or my lower back as he moved past me in the house. One day I was visibly irritated and told him "don't touch me." He went on this whole tirade about how me not wanting to be touched was just a sign of my…

I think the cups are not in his hand they're sitting in a container because they don't have a base. They're made with long stems. They might be disposable? To keep from touching bottles to places where people's lips have touched?

Personally, I would not do a date like this with anyone who was not in an established relationship with me. I will do a picnic date that looks like this. It's well planned, uses an actual picnic set, and both of them dressed for that occasion. But once again, this is an 'established relationship' date not a "getting to know you" date.

I feel you. I had a guy who I talked to on hinge about some of our common interests try to set up a gaming session. I said sure because it's just playing a game and I definitely wouldn't consider it a date. But then he asked me if I wanted him to pick me up. To play a game that's on a system that we both own. That can be played online. In a pandemic. So of course I told him no and that we can just do online play. He waited like 3 hours after I said that to send me a message about starting it up.…

And it's funny because that's the process that I use to justify my purchases. Like, "it would take me 4 hours to buy that skirt" or "it takes me 30 hours to make rent." I definitely wouldn't use it to justify another person's presence. But then again, I also only really put myself around people whose presence I find invaluable.

Noname, Tierra Whack, Rico Nasty, (slightly shamefully) Azealia Banks, and Flo Milli. I personally do love the thot/rat rap because it's usually just about running men's pockets to do what actually makes you happy. But I know it's not everyone's jam.

And even if he DOES act right for me, I don't want a man who can do that to others. I dumped my 7th grade boyfriend for being a bully. I didn't realize then, but I sort of knew that as soon as he deemed me unworthy of his good treatment, he'd treat me like the others he bullied.

Call an Uber and take myself to a nice bar. the way this is written, it assumes that I did not know that this is what the date would be. So I come out, dressed up, to go to the grocery store? Absolutely not; you can find me somewhere that is worth the effort I put in.

For my stateside ladies, there are apps where you can upload your results so that they are right at hand. They can be imported from whatever lab or doctor's office or clinic you go to. HIPAA-compliant and well-encrypted. So there's literally no excuse for not being able to demonstrate that you are not at risk of transmitting an STD to me. I will not take "I can't find the paper", "I forgot my password", "I don't remember when I last did it."
