What gives you the impression that I’m defending this person? I’m simply no more bothered by her than I am about the other tens of thousands of people who are accused of committing a crime every day. Men are twice as likely to face addiction problems, three times as likely to kill themselves, and ten to twenty times more likely to become incarcerated. They have lower success grades and lower access to higher education. These are the issues to me. I’m also incredibly frustrated by how some, but c…

For better or worse, that’s exactly how I feel. My self-righteous indignation would help absolutely nobody here, and I don’t want to be part of yet another “awareness” movement that seeks to claim victimhood just because I am a member of a discernible group. I want something more meaningful — namely, broad recognition on the part of society that men are different physically and socially, and for society to celebrate those differences instead of villifying them. Screaming about single cases of si…

I feel the exact same way. The solution to the inequities caused by cancel culture and certain actions of the feminist movement is not to act exactly like them. If the men’s right’s movement involves pearl clutching and ostentatious condemnations, then count me out.

Women use men’s violence against women over and over again as evidence of an unjust culture. They never know what to do with shit like this. They don’t even acknowledge it.

I think I would rather live in a world where both genders can playfully grope each other than a world where nobody can playfully grope each other, but I hear you, brother. There is a double standard and it’s making life worse for dudes.

I’m very happy that discussions like this one are being had, even in the narrow confines of a men’s rights sub. I am not sure I understand correctly or follow that the decline in marriage rates is a cause of male disengagement, as it seems more like a symptom to me. But that’s ok. A lot of other salient points were made, and I’m grateful that educated minds are approaching this subject in a respectful tone.

I dated a woman who said she found my Tinder profile on “Are We Dating the Same Guy,” after I had deactivated my Tinder account. She confronted me about it in person, whereupon I pulled out my phone, re-downloaded Tinder, reactivated my account, and showed her that I had not communicated with anyone on the site for weeks. All in her plain view. I showed her every conversation I ever had with a woman on Tinder — and they were a LOT, and they were not all vanilla — and then I proceeded to dump her…

Don’t get me wrong, I’m amused, but how the heck is this a men’s rights issue? Let’s not start a “penis equity” movement….

Just cut to the chase and lock us all in cages. Good luck when you need soldiers, grunt labor, or sexual gratification.

Of course it’s allowed, but taking a small subset of people who espouse a view and using it to discredit everyone who espouses that view is a classic straw man fallacy and gets us nowhere. Charlie Kirk did it spoiled liberal students The left does it with ignorant white supremacists. Trump does it with South American drug runners. Feminists do it with male rapists. This kind of thinking is really deteriorating all forms of media and social discourse.

Ok, we need to stop posting videos or quotes by a single no-name idiot, and assigning their stupidity to an entire gender or an entire society. And that assumes this person is an authentic idiot and not an actor or AI.

Honestly, I don’t know the answer to that question. But to me, there’s a difference between chivalry (buying flowers, holding the door open, paying for everything), and basic human decency (saying hi, helping someone in need). Chivalry is stupid, but I will do it for my wife, who takes care of me every bit that I take care of her. Basic human decency is something that even my enemies get.

Oh man, I don’t know whether to take the compliment or to mourn the fact that moderation and attention to nuance gets you dismissed for being a bot.

Good man. Anyone who says this is a man’s world hasn’t looked at suicide, addiction, and incarceration rates between the genders. Grades, access to higher education… the list goes on. It’s tough out there but we have each other.

I hear your frustration and I have felt similar from time to time, but please try to remember that it’s some women — not women generally — and that the majority of females are reasonable and decent. It’s easy to generalize based on the miserable, hateful shit that people post on the internet. We can be better than that and find real solutions instead of responding in kind.

This right here is why I continue to follow this sub. Men don’t rule the world. A minuscule, barely measurable portion of men rule the world. The rest of us have it pretty hard right now, as shown by terribly disproportionate rates of suicide, addiction, and incarceration. Reach out. You have friends even if you haven’t met them yet.

I hear you, friend. Remember that there are somewhere around six billion people (and maybe the same number of bots!) using the internet, and it only takes one or two comments to piss you off. I wish I could say something more comforting or supportive, but that’s all I got. Even if 99% of people are sane — or at least sane enough — that leaves six million crazy assholes on the internet to tell you you’re stupid for any reason or no reason.

Yup. Man with BPD here. Women with BPD end up in therapy, while men with BPD end up in rehab, prison, or as a suicide statistic. I understand that this disparity is recognized and accepted among mental health professionals. See https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3115767/#:~:text=With%20regard%20to%20these%20differences,clinical%20presentations%20and%20treatment%20histories. The sick part is, it is also accepted that BPD affects women and men at an equal rate. So men get BPD just as often a…

I think it perpetuates a narrative that male sexuality is predatory and unhealthy. We are not all ultra rich hedonists who abscond to islands full of underage sex slaves. Somewhere, there is a simple guy who makes a clumsy pass at a coworker, and if she’s not interested, she’s going to be thinking about sexual violence because that’s what she sees in the news. There is a far cry between a lonely idiot and billionaire rapist, but somehow in the end, they are treated exactly the same: both are pub…

Is it a foregone conclusion that men’s rights and feminism are mutually exclusive? If so, please let me know so I can stop supporting both of them.

This sub is getting out of control. I believe men are suffering as indicated by suicide, addiction, and incarceration rates, and I believe our culture should acknowledge that and devote resources to correcting it. I don’t give a fuck about men who do stupid things to get taller.

Great plan! Look into people’s backgrounds to determine whether they believe in things you don’t, and then when something turns up, alienate them. Get mad when they join different political parties. Repeat several million times; watch democracies fall.

This person represents what was actually one of my favorite types of people to meet on the dating sites. When women like this are in their late thirties or early forties, they have usually dropped their insecurities about being judged and simply GET DOWN. God bless them. Sure, this one is kind of a head case, but she’s candid and vulnerable about it, and at her age she’s got time to figure it all out. The real red flag and men’s rights issue doesn’t seem to be present here — that is, identificat…

I dated a woman who went howling, crying nuts every 28 days, and refused traditional treatments and therapies because, “This is just part of who I am.” Funny, I mistook you for a good person who had a hormone disorder — but you’re telling me that intermittently insane is “who you are.” Absolutely ridiculous. The world does not offer any excuse for a man to act like that.

I don’t know shit about autism, but I read your post and it sounds like it could have been written by practically any thoughtful and shy 17 year-old. I’ll give you the same advice I give my kid. Talk to girls you are interested in the same way as you would talk to anyone else you’re interested in: ask them questions and truly listen to their responses. Good luck my friend. Be patient and kind and you will do ok.

I don’t think it’s strictly related to gender, but I have noticed that raising one’s voice has become totally forbidden in the white collar workplace. I’ve seen people lie, cheat, and steal, and they were the ones on the receiving end of the apology when their supervisor raised their voice to them. I’m going back in my mind and thinking about all the times that supervisors, coaches, teachers, teammates and family members yelled at me throughout my life. I thought very little of it, and I believe…
