Regular men in america only got to vote from 1820 onwards. They still had to pay a tax and it took another 30 years before black men could also vote in most places. People will suprise you and not always in a good way. There are a lot of callous and unfeeling people in the world. For some it's a coping mechanism for others it's cruelty. The more you encounter it, the better you end up dealing with it. Sometimes it's best to live your life in your way and let them live theirs in their way.

Good idea, the only thing i disagree with personally is that men should fear more. If there's one thing that's too much of in society it's fear. The news, the goverment, your family they always focus on bad things and try to sell you protection which in turn makes you feel scared. 99% of your days absolutly nothing is gonna happen to you while your out on the street. Just quessing, but maybe they did not register what happened to them as being assault? It took me reading stories from women about their assaults before i started realising that some of the stuff that happened to me was also assault by a legal definition. For me personally it was cause i did not attribute what has happened to me as something illegal or abusive. Like it was just an unpleasant or uncomfortable situation, just stuff that happens in life. Those laws have been there for decades, the current right wing politicians were not even born when those were put in place. The thing is in my country the right does not create issues that specifically hit men. They just screw everyone over equally, some laws hit women more proportionally. I dont fully get what you mean. The left pushes less for new laws that activly harm men, but they dont tackle the decades old laws that harm men either. Like conscription, harsher criminal sentencing, availability of social services specificaly for men as there are some for women. Even mothers being the primary caretakers are not being fought against that hard. At least not in my country (belgium). With regards of speaking to objectification i would argue that women are looked at as human way more then men are. Women get sexually objectified a lot more then men but other then that they are more treated as individuals in online discourse. Left bias definetly, feminist one mostly in college students, less in the actual workfield altough it is present. The feminist rethoric does not seem as radical in my country from what i see coming from the usa. But most social workers are women, so they tend to have a big blind spot when it comes to male issues. As a former male social worker i'd say the bias is just the same as mainstream society. You would assume they would be more aware of their bias due to the education we recieve but unfortunatly they are not. It gets a bit better when you are dealing with rougher client groups cause those draw in more male social workers and female social workers who are willing to look at the ugly side of life.

To add on to this, i used to work as a drugs social worker and for a significant section of our homeless clients they did not want to go to housing or shelters. For the simple reason that they were not allowed to use drugs there.

Let me give you my point of view as a man living in a european country. 1 we call those people houseless, not homeless. They are included in our statistics. 30% of the homeless are women and they usually are the ones who are houseless (so a lot better living conditions) and are homeless for a less longer period then men. You make a really good point in that a lot of men dont realise they have been sexually assaulted by definition. I myself did not even realise it untill i read more stories from what women describe as sexual assault. It truly is way more prevalent then is assumed. In fact from the talks i've had with my male friends, almost all of them have been sexually assaulted at one point in their lives.
