Well, but would it be treated differently if it overwhelmingly targeted women while being the same? It's actually a hard question - I don't think I have a satisfying answer for it.

Could also be generalization. Public perception is that porn targets - and is consumed by - an overwhelming majority of men. It's also easy to see how porn tends to cater to male preferences, not female. I don't think it's necessary to get rid of porn - its production needs policing and regulation, and sex education should also cover porn so that young people are less likely to develop a problematic relationship with porn itself.

My experience is that the insults tend to be focused on the consumer's apparent obsession with sex and inability to control their urges - which is another way to imply an addiction.

I don't care about porn. I think people can consume it responsibly if they want. However I think that porn consumption is a vice and has the potential to spiral out of control.

Attacks on addicts are rarely on point. Typically people don't really focus on the addiction itself. They attack the person. I've never heard someone with a porn problem being called manchild either.

Let's start by saying context matters and this answer is of course generalization. For the same reason why they are shamed for drinking too much, with the extra layer of being sexual. But even ij sex positive environments, it's the abuse and the addiction that carry the stigma.
