Lawyer up like yesterday. Cover your ass and dont fuck yourself over. Set emotions aside because they are only a gun pointed at your foot in most situations. Use this as a lesson. So many guys (including myself) fall into the trap marrying way too early in hopes of the white picket fence, wife and kids pipe dream. I’m sorry to say that does not exist anymore. Women are more dangerous now than ever in our current society. I know it may not seem like it now but this is start of your journey of gro…

The feel for the kids who didn’t have a say and have to dig their way out of the mess. Unfortunately, the cycle will continue for the majority of girls being raised by the broken system

Those I imagine were the best days. Now you’re “weird” if you approach women and try to talk to them like you would’ve then

Not having to live your life in the constant fear of someone deciding “I’m bored now” and taking half of everything you own is a pretty good reason.

These exactly. I learned that these were just keywords used to avoid accountability. She gets called out on her bullshit? “You’re verbally abusing me!” She gets caught in a lie? “You’re a controlling narcissist!”

The shift I’ve seen in my generation is absolutely mind boggling. From HS, first few years of college to now female nature has went from concerning, to bad, to almost scary. I couldn’t imagine even trying to be be a part of the dating scene or worse yet trying to raise a daughter seeing what’s happening out here now days. Holy shit. There’s truly been no better time to GYOW

Being able to do/buy/invest in what you want without ANYONE tell you you can’t is absolutely priceless. Good for you

I’ve learned the hard way that idolization of Marilyn Monroe and/or her quotes is a MAJOR red flag when getting to know women

Men and women simply just can’t cohabitate. We’re too different.

Thankfully we never had children. Never bought a house. The only thing with both our names on it is her piece of shit $9k car. Together for 4.5 years married for 2. I feel for these guys getting fucked up by their ex wives with children and 10s of 1000s of dollars involved. The system is trash

Currently paying her what I have left of the BAH monthly after bills and rent. Given that she’s agreed to that amount, I don’t think I’ll be on the hook for anything like Type II diff BAH. I just have to prove I’m paying her X-amount per month so she can’t make any phone calls saying I’m neglecting payment while separated. I have to stay here in the apartment because the divorce process at the very soonest will butt up to when I’m due to leave for NC. The plan is to have housing/goods move all t…

Isn’t it fucked? If I had abandoned her like this I’d be skewered by the UCMJ

Yes, a petition for divorce will be handled by a civilian attorney or it can be done online if both parties can agree to all the terms for an amicable divorce. JAG does not represent anyone or handle cases by themselves, they are only there to provide legal advice, review documents etc. free of charge to the service member.

Almost nothing in this place is mine aside from a few electronics, personal documents, clothes etc and my car. The rest is hers. I don’t need any of it because after the divorce goes through I’ll be in the provided single solider housing the military provides so it’s of no importance to me. The military doesn’t give a rats ass if your wife is cheating. Only if you are, so even if she is, it would hold little to no weight in the case. I as well don’t give a rats ass if she is or isn’t. I just wan…

The military unfortunately requires that you pay her until the divorce is final no matter what the situation is.. And they wonder why the suicide rate upon servicemen is so ridiculously high

Unfortunately the military forces you to until you get that piece of paper

Exactly. I took that as her trying to keep herself on the lay roll for as long as she can

As far as I know pension is only given to a spouse after 10 years. I’ve been married for 2 years and been in the military a little bit longer than that.

Right, and it’s completely up to how vindictive she decides to be. The system is trash

Absolutely. Squad leader and PLT SGT are tracking currently. Consulting with JAG and a lawyer next week to see exactly what my options are

Does her getting custody of her daughter in FL play any factor. I realize it’s not my child but should she get custody does that affect how much I would be paying her? Now I’m assuming not because I have no relation to the child other than being married to her mother currently. Would that be completely separate and only involving her paternal father? Just asking. No idea how this works or what loopholes come into play

Already have a consultation with someone next week. Given that there’s not a lot to play tug of war over, I’m assuming it’ll just be spousal support to worry about. She does have a step daughter that she’s in that state trying to get custody of currently. Not sure if she will or won’t, but if she does I’m really not sure if that will be a factor in relation to how much I’ll be paying her until it’s final.

Yes exactly. Only thing I can be thankful is that we don’t have any children of our own and I’m willing to give her everything in the apartment. The only thing I’m assuming I can expect the worse on is having to pay her until the divorce is final. This is my first marriage and definitely my last.
