When they closed Backpage someone I know basically equated that to arriving at the office one morning and it's all boarded up and no one has a job anymore. I replied "Sure, that's the same. Except it's a legit job and you're paying taxes and the likelihood that your now defunct company was enabling sex trafficking on a massive level is quite low. Sure.. theres a difference. But if people are manipulating the system in an attempt to ruin someone's life, things to to change in order to deter that sort of behaviour. Do you realize how many people have been convicted of murder and other crimes based on messages, calls, and cellular triangulation? This stuff is used as evidence all the time. And for good reason. It should absolutely go both ways. If the information can lead to a conviction or exoneration, it should absolutely be available to law enforcement.
