He just said "Germany's best men", well they were pretty damn good soldiers, and most of them were fighting in good will and certainly not to continue the Holocaust; and all of them are demonized. Also, the crimes were never democratically sanctioned, and most people didn't even know about the Holocaust, yet all of Germany was demonized and patriotism was largely stigmatized. And the Soviets didn't just defend themselves, they also committed lots of war crimes themselves.

I wasn't referring to someone accused of false rape, I meant the accuser. It was implied, that someone who committed the crime of falsely accusing someone of rape should be executed. If, as you stated, we wanted to reduce the reoffending rate to 0%, we would have to execute all of them. Imprisonment is still preferable over executing 100s of people. And if we get back to the original subject, the execution of a false rape accuser, the US would have to execute many thousands of people for such and similar crimes. Without a proper rehabilitation system, the US would have to execute people in the magnitude of 100 000 per year.

More satisfaction for the relatives of the victims and society in the long term. Execution only satisfies in the short term, which is fitting for the USA because US-Americans tend to be more short-sighted. The reoffense rate for actually rehabilitated people is close to 0%, the problem is, though, that the American system is not designed for rehabilitation.

There's been people on the island who survived and the ones who didn't had families; those are meant by victims. The average criminal can be executed, which would give people just the memory of a person who murdered someone; or he could be locked away and remembered as the person who is suffering for his bad deeds, and the murderer could one day recognize what he's done and apologize, which I would prefer and which can happen.

How is making people correct ever irrelevant? If you can't make people correct citizens, the only alternative is to lock them up for life or to execute them. By your logic if someone cannot make restitution he should just be locked up for his/her lifetime as an example?

That's why I wrote "truly"; what she says alone is worth nothing. Many of these lower class women are extremely manipulative to get what they want, accompanied by crying, etc.. Ignorant people like this should probably be counseled by psychologists; it would really help the correctional system, the people and the parole assessment.

Imprisonment: of course. Capital punishment: no. Imprisonment actually corrects people and the inmates are good example that such behaviour is not tolerated, while corpses don't really tell a lot of a story. And, like with murder, it's too surreal for people so they don't consider that when thinking about a crime. And as I said, justice is not the state exerting vengeance.

I am aware of the United States' practice; but the right to life should persist despite punishment. Judicial punishment shouldn't be designed to exert vengeance on criminals, but to correct them (hence correctional facilities); the US of course fail horribly at that.
