I completely agree that the "stranger danger" fervor and all the widespread bullshit about the world being less safe than in the past is a big problem; I just don't see how you can blame feminists for it when they actually spend a lot of time and effort trying to convince people of the opposite (about rape at least).

"Never mind that stranger-type rapists and pedophiles are incredibly rare (most abuse people they know)" Ok you do realize that feminists talk about this all the time right?

I don't know what you're talking about. If something is unfair to men--and you've yet to show me what exactly is--then we should do something about it.

What? Are you serious? Just because women are less screwed over than in the past does not mean they are treated as the equals of men today. We should care about the things you mention based on careful thought about the evidence.

But that's the perfect example: men are more likely to go to college today than ever in the past. But if there are unfair barriers to men going to college, we should get rid of them! But--and I certainly apply this reasoning to majority male pursuits as well--50/50 should not be the goal.

Wait you don't think she was joking? Are you fucking serious?

oh shit you're right, I forgot about the feminists who want all males to be castrated or murdered. What is your point by linking to that? That joking in the most over-the-top way possible about castration is not ok? That women read this blog post and then decided it was alright to laugh about real castration?

Ok dude, please provide evidence that feminists think laughing at castration is ok. Or that feminism leads to laughing at castration. I go on SRSD to argue with them. I admit I think they're more often right than you guys.

My excuse for what? You're the one claiming to know why they laughed.

Oh it's really shitty that they laughed. I don't know why they laughed. They weren't thinking about what they were doing, or they're just really bad at thinking, or they're terrible people, or something. But it has nothing to do with the philosophy of any feminist. Though I'd love for you to point me to a feminist who says laughing at castration is an ok thing to do. I'm not actually a feminist. I just think you're full of shit.

lol if you believe it then you don't have to have any evidence. Right! I mean, are you serious?

Yeah so now is where you provide evidence of that. "I see no other reason" is hilariously bad reasoning.

But this is analogous to blaming Martin Luther King Jr. for some racially motivated black-on-white murder. Feminism does not say laughing at castration is ok. It just doesn't. That some women who have nothing to do with feminism have the opportunity to be on TV and do something bad does nothing to indict feminism. At the very best you can only blame feminism as a distant indirect cause, since without feminism women would have less opportunity to be on TV

I have no clue what you are saying. Are you saying that now that feminists have succeeded in getting men to think of women more as equals, it follows that women laugh at castration? Are you saying that if not for feminism then men would laugh at female genital mutilation? Or what? Is it so terribly unreasonable of me to think you ought to provide evidence of your claims?

Women? Definitely not from one bad experience. The justice system? Yeah I wouldn't trust it too much. It's screwed up in a lot of ways.

If you can point me to a feminist who thinks that women should laugh at men being castrated, I'll believe you. Actually if you can come up with any evidence at all that feminism leads to that, that would be cool.

"you deprive men of opportunities to create value for themselves through public sphere work" That's what I'm saying is disingenuous. Women have been given the opportunity to work. That does not deprive men of the opportunity to work. I don't know what the unemployment rate for men specifically is, but it is certainly a hell of a lot lower than it was during all kinds of historical periods. It wasn't that long ago that every major city had 20-30% beggars Not to mention the fact that men have the …

I'm sorry you had such an awful experience. But anecdotal evidence.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that the surge in support for women entering the workplace is due to the systematic discrimination against them doing so that has always existed. Would you say white people are systematically being displaced by black people in college because Jim Crow is over? I suppose you're technically right that our system now brings in many more women to the workplace than it ever did in the past. But it's somewhat disingenuous to claim that women are "displacing" men as if …

"that's exactly how women treat men" Dude just because you saw a video once of women cheering on castration--which is absolutely fucking horrible but has nothing to do with feminism--does not mean that women are out to get you. Yeah, there are a lot of bad people out there who use others. But there are plenty of great people, too.

What the hell kind of attitude is that? "use them when needed"?? If a woman said that about men you guys would be all over how terrible that is.

Systematic displacing? Do you have evidence of that?

As soon as they realized he was talking about suicide, they stopped, apologized and deleted their posts. And of course now we know that the whole thing is a hoax. It was still a very careless and Bad thing for those 2 people to do, but that doesn't somehow indict SRS as a whole.
