We are determined by genetic, environnemental and social factors. They are not mutally exclusive. A genetic trait can be influence by environnemental and social factors. A genetic trait is NOT always a good thing (like genetic diseases). I think it comes from the fact that feminists tend to belittle their views. For most of the feminists I have talked with, women have to be "strong independant female" because if they accepted the traditionnal role of 50s wife, then they let the patriarchy wins. With them, it's not about having the freedom to do what you want to do, be it a STEM ingineer or a stay-at-home mother. It's about to "fight the patriarchy" even if your goals actually aligned.

Agree about your control argument. It can even be applied to women themselves. Even with birth control, a pregnancy can occur which is why abortion is another way of controling pregnancy.
