I think this is almost right, however I'd go as far as to say he should minimize interaction with her as much as possible. Even attempting to explain his previous actions indicates continued neediness. I think once you fall to the point where you're afraid of losing a woman you need to stop contact with her until you can get to a point where you don't care if she leaves or not.

From what I've gathered women don't seem to care much for how a divorce affects the kids. Also my guess is that if she isn't getting sex from you she's getting it from someone else. But I've never been married or had kids so perhaps others can say what they think on those points.

I'm at the point where I don't think romantic love actually exists as most people define it. I think "love" is only a tool people use to manipulate others, most likely primarily a female weapon. I've had bad social anxiety all my life and managed to lose my virginity at 23 to a girl I liked quite a lot. I gained my confidence by talking to girls online and I met her in a webcam chatroom.
