Obviously many of the behaviors associated with gender, such as liking pink or wearing dresses, are purely social constructs. With most gender clinics adolescents can receive puberty blockers at the age of 12, giving them time to think their life over while putting puberty on a hold. At 16 they can get hormones. Around 80% of people who display gender dysphoria during childhood lose this in adolescence. Most of them discover they are gay or just like crossdressing. The clinic that pioneered this treatment for example, hasn't had a single patient on puberty blockers that wished to reverse the treatment, making it an extremely successful treatment.
