Alimony for life? Is that a real thing? Is anybody unfortunate enough to be in that group right now? What is crazy is, I am one state over in Indiana and we do not have alimony, only spousal support. And it is VERY rare that is awarded. The only time it is awarded is if one spouse was incapacitated during the marriage like became disabled and or stayed at home with the kids with zero income and no skills. And it is only for 3 years max, no matter how long you were married. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/06/26 06:23 PM
Wife wants 4K a month. Half 401k and pension. I make 200k how fucked am I?it does if one spouse significantly outearns the other, even with 50/50 custody. Child support, unless otherwise negotiated, goes off income and overnights. If one spouse earns lets say 200k and the other earns 50k and each have 50/50, the spouse that makes 200k will still pay childs support. I have a friend who is an orthopedic surgeon making about 900k/year and was married to a fellow doctor, a pediatrician, who made around 300k/ year and he pays her 10k a month in child's support for their tw… | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/06/26 02:15 PM
Do people ask you when you tell them you are getting a divorce…I think many people who have not been through it themselves with kids and or had very special circumstances just do not understand the legalities involved regarding custody and relocation once divorced or once you share children with someone even if never married. Many very wrongly assume that because other parent was/is a POS, abusive, isolated the other partner from any kind of family/support, no job opportunities in the area for one partner etc, that those circumstances mean someone can just … | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/06/26 03:58 PM
Pregnant and dating...Not to mention, if her ex/baby daddy wants to be involved in any kind of capacity, she’s not going to be able to move within a couple miles of where she is now until her kid is 18. From my time on mom subreddits, it seems so many women are either truly ignorant to child custody laws especially when it comes relocating or truly underestimate how strict and uncompromising relocation laws are. Even in the case of severe abuse, you’d better have ample proof via legal documents and police reports det… | /r/RedPillWomen | 14/06/25 01:42 AM
Need advice on how to support my husband without pushing him too hard"You married a dreamer. You chose a dreamer. Now you're upset that after 10 years, he's still a dreamer. " This is a big reason as to why my parents split (there were many many reasons, but this was a big one). My parents were together from ages 14-26. My dad was/is a dreamer who could talk the talk but never walk the walk essentially. He was constantly getting him and my mom into debt, constantly between jobs because everything was beneath him, constantly jumping from one get rich quick idea to… | /r/RedPillWomen | 21/05/25 10:03 PM
Worry about futureAs someone who was bred, born, raised, and who still lives in a rural area in the Midwest, most people in areas like this marry right out of high school and are on kid #3+ by 25. It’s just a completely different culture in rural areas vs more metro areas. People find their spouses in middle/high school around these areas. Then people start to cheat in their late 20s-30s as they have outgrown their spouse they’ve been with since they were 16. I’m guessing this is what OP is experiencing | /r/RedPillWomen | 16/02/25 04:34 AM
Soon to be ex wife wants unilateral control - doesn’t get why she doesn’t have itOkay and if it’s still not helping with his depression, then maybe it is time for medication AND therapy. I get he may not be comfortable telling a female counselor everything, but is he’s been seeing a counselor for a while and is still severely depressed, seeing a male counselor is not going to be a sudden magic cure all and immediately help his depression. It takes time and if his depression is not getting any better or getting any worse despite being in counseling for a minute, in my opinion… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/01/25 01:05 AM
Soon to be ex wife wants unilateral control - doesn’t get why she doesn’t have itIMO, you are both being petty by withholding consent for your son to get any kind of help for his depression because it’s not entirely your (as in both of you) way of what you think is best. As a result, son is going to get no help at all. Are you both okay with that? Are you okay with that? Heaven forbid your son hurts himself as a result of his untreated depression, you guys are going to spend the rest of your days with guilt and pointing fingers at one another as the reason why son never got … | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/01/25 12:51 AM
Recently Separated and My Wife May be Siphoning Money into Secret AccountI’m a happily married woman so I’m not sure why this sub was on my recommended lists haha but reading this is heart breaking! As a nurse, I know how absolutely hard physicians work and I admire them so much! I am sorry you are going through this!! I can’t imagine. I just hope she is hiding the money and hasn’t spent it over the years… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/12/23 02:40 PM
| -4 | Why Women are Walking AwayClarification- so a woman should stay with her husband that beats her, gets loaded every night, doesn’t pay attention to her or the kids, etc just because he financially provides for his family? I’m sure that’s not what you meant but that’s how this came off to me upon first reading | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/23 05:37 PM |
