I've been wondering about this. As long as your exchange of choice isnt in the same country as you they can never find out if you even have an account, especially in the US. You could then do international wire transfers to your bank but if you get audited you wont be able to prove you held the crypto for more than a year without transaction history, so either way you'd have to file it as income.
