… Does that mean I’m not pretty ? /s I’ve worked hard for every dollar I’ve ever made and despite our best efforts my husband and I are now living on assistance and while recovering from injuries that almost killed us. What your experiencing is culture and privilege. Some of the most hardworking people in the world are absolutely stunning without makeup or even first world amenities. And of course money isn’t enough; every woman I’ve ever met would trade all the money they had for a good, kind, …

Yes, there’s definitely more support for female humans collectively . The attempt survival rate discrepancies come from the statistics do objectively show that what happens is women overwhelmingly choose overdose or cutting which gives family/friends/first responders a lot more time to save your life than men who overwhelmingly choose a gun or hanging, which ends your life in seconds. Women are more likely to die from domestic abuse; but men are more likely to be invalidated, suffer it longer an…

That’s a brutal dose of ignorance it’s almost laughable. I’ve never heard that one before. Lucky me because I feel like I’m going to have a stroke 😅 Reminds me of that joke “black people had it really rough in America because of slavery, but white people had it really rough back then too, like when they took our slaves away” 😅 🤦‍♀️

Depends on the age. If you’re in your early twenties it’s not uncommon to be a virgin if you just haven’t met the right person, or you’re not ready as fast as your peers, 30+ I’d be slightly concerned as to why they have zero Experience. The reverse for several partners; if they’re early 20s and already racking up double digits we’re probably not compatible just by lifestyle standards. But if y’all are 30+ years old, several or multiple partners is expected . I wouldn’t go by something like body…

Magic mike isn’t the dad bod, shrek is, also that one’s mainly a joke based on the discourse, but also you haven’t been on the internet very long if you haven’t heard of rule 34 . Keep your innocence and don’t look it up .

I grew up with a mother like this. (The ex who baited him). One thing he needs to do is to build up his own emotional boundaries by taking people for their word and not feeling guilty when they try and flip the script. You can practice this together by “role playing” it out. Sit down with him and if he’s comfortable with it, ask for a situation where she did this to him; play it out how it happened, except this time his role is to stand up for himself. Get him to practice saying things like, “Yo…

Whether it's friends/family/work/strangers my go to's are: "It's a private matter." "I'm not comfortable sharing that aspect of my life." You can also tack on "But thank you for asking :) " as well as a question of your own to change the subject. If they press the matter; "It's not up for discussion." "I've already told you no, please respect my privacy."

You're most welcome :) I get you, dealing with anxiety in others can be quite taxing but strong boundaries and personal emotional hygiene go along way!

Thanks for the feedback; this might be a shot in the dark here since i've only got a few paragraphs to go on but maybe try looking up Anxious Attachment. A couple times a week sounds exhausting honestly, but if he's not doing it to wear you out or intentionally derail you it might be an anxiety issue on his part. You mention he's so indecisive that it stress you both out which is another anxiety indicator. You do sound very calm, just confused, compared to men/woman subjected to intentional 'cra…

I don't think you can do anything differently when someone sounds like their goal is to get into a fight. When someone is specifically irrationally angry irritable, in my experience the best thing to do is to explain yourself as little as possible; don't feed into it, but don't be dismissive either. How often does this happen? Worst case scenario look up 'crazy-making' and 'walking on eggshells'.

I'm just guessing here but he could be looking for personal preference over anything qualitative. For example I know NOTHING about cars so if my husband and I are to pick one out together and he asks for my input I won't say anything about brand/make/model (Those sound like car words lol) instead i'll highlight that I want safe, and efficient and maybe mention colour preference letting him use his expertise while taking what I want into consideration. For your example about bathtub/ contractors/…

overeating, and not having enough ambition. I can tell this really affected him because he did not want to speak to me when we were together again. If this is newer behaviour i'd strongly recommend counselling to him; it may be early signs of depression or burnout. If this is all you've ever known form him; you might not be compatible. Also email is probably not the best way to have conversations about touchy or important subjects about each other; if you find it easier to write than to speak wh…

To answer you title question, Assertiveness = Healthy, co-operative, works with any age group, everyone feels heard, empowering, understanding. Abuse = Aggressive, belittling, steamrolling, cursing, impatient, controlling, shutting down / fear response, fight or flight.

Pressure cookers are definitely intimidating make sure you read all the instructions, i've seen some horror stories with those. (Not to deter you just to be safe) What kinds of foods do you like? Any restrictions? Pinterest is a great place for fancy salads/sandwichs/soups/desserts you name it.

Femininity is more of an attitude than outward appearance, although that also helps. You could take on the "practice makes perfect" approach or "fake it 'til you make it". Like when I started wearing a wristwatch one year it felt SO BIG on my tiny wrist but I just got used to it over time. Or when I change my eye-glasses there's always an adjustment period. You could also try some journalling or even counselling if this is coming from some childhood issues.

Of course! Doing "dangerous things safely" is essentially Exposure Therapy before something happens to you/ practicing to prevent it; in essence exposing yourself to things that are hard/dangerous within a controlled environment with a safety net and/or teacher. It's where we find the balance between sheltered and traumatized, which is how we grow & become effective/productive/well-rounded humans. Example #1 Sheltered: Can't defend yourself. Traumatic: Mugged at Knifepoint. Growth: Sparring in a…

It sounds like you might have more of an anxiety/hyper - independence issue rather than a femininity issue, to which I would definitely suggest some CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and/or counselling. But since you asked, while I love things like jiujitsu/hiking/rock climbing, I stay feminine by just being myself; open, kind, empathetic ,generous, healthy boundaries, funny (I think i'm hilarious). I like watching Mary Poppins/ Jane Austen movies/Studio Ghibli films for that perfect balance b…

If you could hate yourself into being more fit/beautiful/flirtatious you'd already be perfect by now. So since hating yourself clearly isn't working, I think it's time to try some counselling/therapy to find out where these awful thoughts about yourself are coming from. In the meantime don't focus on other people's perceptions of you; focus on your health for your own quality of life. No-one should be dieting just to be thin; the same way we shouldn't be abusing food; we should be eating for hea…

I've been working on 'non-attachment' a lot myself lately; as in practicing not becoming attached to a certain outcome, which I think exudes that Feminine Grace you're talking about. This can look like; "If they disagree, that's okay, my opinion still stands." "If they get angry, that's okay, I can stay clam." Or it can look like 'having a plan B'; "If they don't want to go on a date, i'll make my favourite dinner and watch my favourite movie tonight." "If I don't get that job I want, i'll go to…

What you're feeling is normal, and doesn't make you cold, or selfish, or a bad person. I’ve been told that when you help someone, you do so because you wanted to, and you shouldn’t expect anything in return. This is correct, but you are spreading yourself too thin. You know how we can't gain cold, we can only lose heat? You can't try and warm up the world, and you can't keep helping even a few people without heat sources of your own; we do require thank-you's, and we require self-care and system…

You seem very self-aware which is a great start :) The best way for humans to grow in the sense in which you're talking about is to make yourself beneficially uncomfortable, or do dangerous things safely. If you want to be humbled as well as prepared for what could happen to a young woman in more dangerous parts of the world; join Jiu-jitsu; it's uncomfortable/dangerous/but also safe/ you'll come out of it with great friends, and be able to defend yourself should the worst occur. It's also just …

Baby girl you're just getting started <3 I'm so sorry you're going through this. There is nothing wrong with wearing skirts, or anything you love to wear, and there is nothing wrong with you or your body! I was in a similar situation as you, and at nineteen I was so close to taking my own life after some horrible horrible things were done to me. But I got away, and the healing will take time, and it will be hard sometimes but it will be SO worth it! I'm 27 now and my life is WORLDS different. My…

If you were in an abusive relationship you should definitely seek personal counseling/therapy. Also, while your perspective of not wanting to "wear HIM down" is noble, I would suggest shifting your focus back to you, and discovering what healthy you would look like for your own benefit. <3

Definitely therapy/ counselling. That’s not something you should be expected to traverse alone ♥️ Another thing that helped me is the saying that after every seven years, every cell in our bodies has died and been replaced with new ones... last year my husband and I celebrated seven years together and so I officially have a body that only he has ever touched. The psychological wounds will always be there but I find comfort in my body being new and have been still coaxing myself and my mind along…

I’m the same as you! All it takes is a man who is equally dominant (I know easier said than finding one.) But they are out there! I’ve married one 🥰 You won’t be happy with a man who is only “dominant” because you’ve toned yourself down. That’s like wanting a man taller than yourself and cutting off your feet to be shorter than him; you can’t cut away pieces of who you truly are to make someone else the tall one; they’ll remain the same as they always were but YOU will be unhappy; and that’s no …

Following as I’m also interest in book recommendations. Music really helps with my executive dysfunction, especially if it’s music pre-chosen for certain tasks; Hamilton soundtrack equals a 2.5 hour deep clean of the house, for example. I have a go-to instrumental playlist for when I’m studying/writing. External Associations are great for executive dysfunction because it’s like giving your brain that extra pillar it’s missing cognitively . Training wheels if you will. 😊 or like a guide dog 🥰🐶

You could do some solo therapy too~ You said you don’t know if you want kids anymore , what changed? Have you been feeling this way for a long time or are you just nervous now that it might be a possibility?

I honestly wish there were more people like you. People are always aghast to learn that people wore their finest clothes all the time; even at home in regency/period pieces , and claim they’d never leave their sweatpants and ponytails behind , and I’m like boo that’s why we’re all clinically depressed in quarantine. ☕️ Get dressed; look good, feel good.

Hahaha ♥️ you won’t regret it. I highly recommend Jiujitsu~ it’s great for de-escalating situations as well which a lot of other martial arts don’t focus on. Gracie Jiujitsu academy has lots of women’s defenders tips on their Instagram that you and your girls can practice together safely at home too like; How to stop unwanted hugs flawlessly, how to stop unwanted belly rubs if you’re pregnant, etc. Then you’ll definitely want hands on practice / in class instructions for triangle chokes 😉

Thank you ♥️ Yes it quite counter intuitive actually! Martial arts are quite masculine traditionally, and socially, but for me it gave me the confidence in myself and in using my body that really freed me to be as feminine as I wanted because I know myself that no matter how cute, or coy, or delicate I may appear I can still protect myself if a situation turns sour. Nothing gives me more confidence than being able to defend myself with a triangle choke after being tackled to the ground while wea…

I had the same issue of finding that balance! I was assaulted and abused for years on the cusp of womanhood and it made me very bitter and guarded for a very long time. Some things that have helped me regain a sense of balance between softness and strength are; Jiujitsu; helped me learn to defend myself; made great friendships with men; taught me to be comfortable in my own body. My faith in God helped improve my mental health and peace. Therapy for trust/vulnerability issues. And surprisingly J…

President Theodore and First Lady Edith Roosevelt; after Theodore's first wife died in birthing their first-child at 22 years old, Edith raised Alice as her own with her own children. "In her autobiography Crowded Hours, Alice wrote of Edith, "That I was the child of another marriage was a simple fact and made a situation that had to be coped with, and Mother coped with it with a fairness and charm and intelligence which she has to a greater degree than almost any one else I know." I think a good rule of thumb for women seeking men, and men seeking women is, watch how they treat/talk about their family, exes, friends, strangers, waitresses/retailers, of both sexes. As well as how they get along with your own family/friends. 'Other people' is a great litmus test for how they're eventually going to talk about and treat you. Another one is how they treat animals/ and even inanimate objects. (I.e. how they treat vulnerability when there's a clear power dynamic.) This is why I …

I’m allergic to makeup so can’t relate there, but I second that less is more. The most important things for style however and feminine dressing, is well-fitted always looks good; not too loose not too tight. Clothes that you don’t have to touch/readjust once they’re on: not having to pull necklines up or hemlines down every time you move is honestly the easiest way to look put together. Play with colour palettes like pastels or earth tones, my closet is mainly navy, black, white and gray, with a…
