at least he has some education on the subject, I wonder what your experience as some one who went to college and now works at a coffee shop has to do with law? Ohh right, nothing at all, considering reading through your post history is nothing but shit science flavored with pop bullshit and other hipster crap, I would barely trust you to tell me how to pay a parking ticket.

No it hasn't. The problem with this idea that we are victims of our reality is that it waters down the term victim. Victim is a term for some one who has been directly wronged against by another. A Victim must have also been acting in a way that is reasonable and not likely to result in their injury or misfortune when the event occurs. Being in a society that has biases against you does not make you a victim. Claiming to be a victim because some women and men get raped is an insult to the real v…

my favorite line is at the end "I'm not "playing" a victim, I AM a victim to this Patriarchal BULLSHIT". Feminism level up, permanent victim status achieved.

it's from /r/thankspatriarchy, a fun little sub about this kind of stuff. it's a bit dead atm, but still entertaining.
/r/MensRights29/04/13 11:06 PM
1

yes, but the problem is your assumption, that it's due to preference, is a separate hypothesis, not a null hypothesis. Edit: I'm done, and I don't really care anymore. This sub is slinking into a bitch fest were the idea that men exclude to, and that feminism had a purpose once upon a time is completely lost. The front page is nothing but bullshit that has nothing to do with advancing the rights of men. It's become as much a jerk circle as SRS, have a good afternoon, and goodbye.
/r/MensRights16/04/13 05:16 PM

you don't understand what a null hypothesis is. Please go back and read about it. A null hypothesis is that anything other then what is being claimed is occurring.
/r/MensRights16/04/13 05:04 PM

I disagree that choice is the null hypothesis. You cannot form a null hypothesis with a positive statement. The null hypothesis would be, in fact, that women not participating is not due to gender based exclusion. However, that does not leave choice as the only other option. There are MANY other factors to consider and that is why a null hypothesis by definition can NEVER be a positive statement.
/r/MensRights16/04/13 04:13 PM

You directly made a causal claim in the second quote. You claimed the reason women did not engage in these behaviors is out of personal choice and not exclusion, which is a causal statement. by the way, I think we have an SRSter in here, because I am not down voting you. I will counter upvote against whomever is downvoting both of us.
/r/MensRights16/04/13 03:35 PM

Correlation does not equate causation. then so what is far more likely is that women are simply incapable of or unwilling to do something and therefore general standards arise to exclude them as a rule of thumb. So wait, you refute my point by saying that just because there is a pattern, doesn't mean there is a cause, and then you attribute a cause to a pattern, without any evidence? Because tom boys don't exist? Because feminism wasn't originally conceived because women wanted to be able to pur…
/r/MensRights16/04/13 03:23 PM

No, I'm talking about group preference, the roles I listed actively excluded women traditionally. The only difference today is that men are told we are not allowed to exclude women, and are punished if we try. On the other hand, women are actively supported in excluding men. If a man wants to do something women do he is weird and women are supported in excluding him. If a man wants to exclude a woman from anything it's sexism.
/r/MensRights16/04/13 02:40 PM
-5

But that process happens based on gender, men traditionally excluded women from these pursuits, calling them a man's place and saying women aren't good enough to perform them. That is a group preference.

As much as I usually agree with her, I disagree with her thesis midway through this video. Men do posses a hardwired ability to get along with other men and form in group preference. The difference is, the focus on male bonding is not on maintaining civil discussion, but on cooperation towards a task. The prototypical male bonding group is the hunting party, where men will instinctively get along and work together towards the good of a successful hunt. Similarly, if you put a group of men togeth…

I think the most important way to raise awareness is to vote with our dollars. More efforts to raise funds and organize financial resistance has a far higher chance of being noticed then grumbling on a forum. If a couple men's rights issues and charities see hundreds of thousands pouring in, people will take notice.

There are some very hurt people who have been abused by the system here, and that comes out as a dislike of women in general. I'm sorry people make you feel that way, try to think of it like the way a female victim of abuse acts towards men.
/r/MensRights06/03/13 02:48 PM

Low hanging fruit. Hetero men have the issue that they have, out of false pride, not seen the need to debate their own rights. A gay man has had to fight for his rights every step of the way, cross him and he will end you. This makes most hetero white men complacent and easy targets for abuse, and it is generally only after they are involved in an abusive relationship, a bitter divorce or a false rape claim that they have the red pill thrust upon them.

Honestly, female social interactions differ from male, and allot of us are not properly equip to help you, just to give thanks for your support. The women who are mad at you are mad because you brake the illusion of solidarity they posses. The idea of a woman, who has lived her whole life as a woman, could possibly believe men deserve more support disrupts their inner dialogue that anyone who has lived in a woman's shoes would obviously understand why women need more rights. I do. The goal when interacting with radicals is never to change their view, and public feminists are mostly dogmatic radicals. The goal when arguing with people like this is to put the argument on display for the audience. They may never be convinced, but how do you know moderates reading that were not thinking "wait a minute, that kind of makes sense... maybe I should learn more about this". A person's ideology is only as powerful as their ability to convince others with it. Isolating radical …

You're not even making an argument for why you think this is the case, you're just assuming it is." "the average person assumes the problem is relatively dealt with and does nothing about poverty." That's not true, and not substantiated by facts, which also are not provided in that argument. If monopolies or oligarchic cartels that form in markets are bad because they overcharge for an inferior product/service... why do you believe that the opposite is true when you call it a government? Because…

I know what you are saying, but you can't crowd out a charitable good. Charitable supply is not impacted by demand, it's impacted by brand recognition. As for crowding out a free market solution, again, the free market never provides for those without the resources to produce demand. Crowding out implies a situation where some one would otherwise select a superior good, but because they automatically pay for a government good through taxes, they default for the inferior government good. Now, min…

A national policy should be a safety net that only kicks in when local policy fails. I'm not saying that what your saying can't work, but I am asking you how it would. Currently, if enough people volunteered to help the hungry, you should see far higher numbers of people using it nationally. The failure of this to be the case indicates either A. not enough people are aware of the service (in which case education needs to be provided by government or volunteers) or B. Not enough volunteers exist …

no it's not. Bipolar is called bipolar because of it's characteristic swings from happy highs to lows. A Bipolar person is often aware of the problems they have an seek help willingly. Narcissists deny they have a problem and defend their own egos at all costs. Very different.

That is a fair way of looking at it, but looking at it another way, enough people do not volunteer to feed all of those who need food. If we knew that volunteers alone could support everyone who is hungry in this country, then I would agree that's a valid alternative. Thank you for your volunteer work btw, that is very generous of you.

Sorry, long day, I will leave it up to make your post make sense. My point was, if the mother cannot afford the food, and society doesn't pay for it, and the father doesn't pay for it, a magic food fairy is not going to rain chicken soup from the sky. If the mother truely cannot pay for the child's well being, some one has to, or it will die.

If you believe men should have to pay for children that they have no choice in whether the pregnancy makes it to term or gets put up for adoption, then yah, fuck you.
/r/MensRights31/01/13 10:14 PM

When children are had by those who cannot afford them, they either become society's problem, or they die. The other alternative, is to pick a gender that tends to work longer and harder, force them to pay for it, and not give them any options about it's birth. What looks like the bad option now?

I think the point is, who cares? By now we should be adult enough as a people to not care what others do with their bodies, and to not consider a human being compromised for being in porn. This is like how tattoos used to be, a black mark that's hard to get past professionally, even though it shouldn't make a difference to one's performance.

honestly, I would have to look into it. I'm aware that most of the functional organs take up very little space (an A cup doesn't necessarily produce any less milk then a D cup, and a man given a sufficient dosage of hormones and stimulation will produce milk since men actually have all the necessary parts). From what I understood, the bulk of the breast is pure show, and that show is fat.

There is a reason those kind of people can colloquially be called "Uncle Toms", the civil rights movement faced the same problem and look how that went?
/r/MensRights11/01/13 06:01 AM
7

I don't, those issues took decades of hard struggle and eventual organization. People who identify as Gay and black can tell you, it took a long long long ass time for a proper movement to coalesce, and longer for it to gain momentum. I see the men's rights movement already gaining momentum, enough so that it's creeping into the public discourse. From there, it's only a matter of time.
/r/MensRights11/01/13 05:50 AM

I do, in the US, many states have begun removing life time alimony laws. I don't read about many legal efforts to give women more power in this regards, infact, the law seems to have begun a slow creep in our direction. I see the next 2 decades as very exciting for men's rights.
/r/MensRights11/01/13 05:04 AM

I would say, less ill informed people. Currently, half the voting population grew up in a world were gender stereotypes were the norm, and men were supposed to be without feelings and to "put up with" things that would be beyond reason to expect of a woman. The only way they are likely to change their perspectives from what 40+ years of life has taught them is to personally go through the tragedy of what our justice system does to men, or frankly, "age out" of the debate.
/r/MensRights11/01/13 04:27 AM

That, and the fact that this is something that happens to both genders, but is always projected as the man being the slob that has to clean up for the woman. Women are just as bad as men in this regard, and I know plenty of women who have admitted to me "let me freshen up" meant "make sure you don't see a used tampon in the trash and shit all over the place" the first time I went over. the greatest flaw of game theory is that it assumes mandatory participation in the game. In real life, you are given a wide variety of "game" situations to choose from, and how and when you engage (and disengage) from a social game is every bit as important to outcome as how you actually play the social games you engage in.

Japanese culture has shot itself in the foot in many ways, and the greatest issue they face as a culture is that their enormously anti-male society has resulted in birth rates too low to replace themselves. lime is highly basic and is used in bulk to increase soil pH where acid damage has eroded soil quality. You can safely, and without any suspicion, buy it in bulk from a garden supply center with cash.

I was agreeing, I was simply saying that people really really rarely beat the shit out of each other or kill each other, it's an under 1% occurrence. Because it simply doesn't happen that often in society, using statistical means about the general population are useless for judging the logical situation the crime occurs in.

The thing is, men are mostly stronger then women, but domestic violence is not something that usually happens, it's the exception and not the rule, therefore using the argument that men are generally stronger then women to say women cannot ever be responsible for something that is rare on either side is the problem.

She is a grifter and a snake oil salesman. They are as old as time, and evolve to suite whomever is most gullible and easily convinced. She has effectively conned a foolish population, and here we see her playing the very damsel in distress card she claims to hate to garner more attention. In short, it's silly to call her a hypocrite when her intent has never been to contribute to society, but to con those who's pride makes them believe they are unconnable.

Realistically, they are. Purely psychologically speaking, we have known since the 60s that when you create groups, and become highly involved in identifying with a group/working to promote that group, you become skeptical and distrusting of those outside your group. The easiest example of this is the Robber's Cave experiment (look it up, interesting read for some one trying to understand basic 101 level psychology). Feminists are aggressively pro female, and in order to gain resources for women,…

sociology is a social science, psychology is rooted in neurological cognitive research and complex behavioral analysis. There are some physiological differences (such as the sexually dimorphic nucleus of the medial preoptic area of the hypothalamus). Be careful with numbers, from the standpoint of some one with a psychology background, it's about 50/50, however true gender difference is a matter of scale, it shows up in the analysis of populations, but it is impossible to find in a population lower then 100, that means that for any group of 30 or so people, the true differences are too small and subtle to measure easily.

it took two people too get drunk (the risky behavior, like sex) it took one person to make the unethical, dangerous decision of driving the car (like keeping a child to term without a stable family to raise it in).
/r/MensRights25/10/12 06:14 PM
2

Not near impossible if she can support it herself, or has a partner who wants to raise it with her. Not everyone can afford everything, that doesn't mean they deserve to have or keep it. You assume every woman should keep and raise a child between herself and the first man who knocks her up, it would be wiser to abort until in a stable, financially and emotionally, long term relationship where a child is both wanted and prepared for. Anything else is a vast waste of social resources.
/r/MensRights25/10/12 06:11 PM
3

Because only one party chose the outcome of the situation. The person who makes the last choice legally takes the most responsibility. If I choose to get drunk with you, that's my choice to take a risk, if you choose to then get behind the wheel of a car, that is not my responsibility, you made the last, and most damaging choice, you live with it.
/r/MensRights25/10/12 06:09 PM

Taking the child to term is an optional upgrade. Abortion is the most effective outcome if both parties do not want a child.
/r/MensRights25/10/12 06:07 PM

If the pregnancy is not his choice than it is not his responsibility. You continue to assign responsibility to an action he does not have a choice in, if you call it a shared car, then I already said he should foot the bill for half the economic repairs, that's the abortion. If it's a shared car and one party decides that 200,000 dollars should be dumped into it, instead of just paying 500 to repair the damages, that is NOT both parties responsibly, it is not sticking some one with the bill when…

However, if they choose to upgrade their car, and install a chromed, high end bumper in place of the one I damaged, I should not be held liable for the fact that …

In this day and age, where it is legal, abortion is a highly safe procedure. Because of this, it is fair to legally say any child born was a choice, not an accident, the opportunity to end the pregnancy is prevalent and convenient. In a moral society, the cost of an action should be felt by the party that had the choice to complete it.

no one needs to have financial support or the government would have a better social support system for all people, regardless of age. My first statement makes the point that it should be the mother's choice whether or not the child is born. However, she makes that decision freely. If she knows the father does not want to have it, and she chooses of her own volition to have it anyways, she chose herself to loose her financial freedom, not the other way around. The problem I see with your argument…

the trouble is,a woman should not be forced to risk her physical health in a pregnancy that her body can't handle just because a man wants her to have it. It would be unfair to make one person's body both people's possession. Likewise, a man's legal entity should not belong to a woman, and his financial freedom should not be hers to toy with.

I always find it ironic when feminists talk about a "culture of rape". They are correct, there is a culture of rape, but not like they think. That and apparently women are narcissists that you can persuade to your side with some obvious flattery and pandering. You have dated right? I figured that out freshman year of high school.

it wasn't an apology, it was sympathy. because being a man involves certain hardships society doesn't admit are unique to men, it was an apology to his children that they will have to fight to be treated as equals. It was an honest admittance he wished his children could be accepted as human beings regardless of their gender. That is why he posted. Because people don't recognize men get the short end of the legal stick. His children will have to pay for that one day unless we change it.

And good luck pressing rape charges for that fucking, you're a man, can't happen.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. If a man wants a shoulder to cry on this should definitely be the place. I bet he tells his children all of the above, but what he writes here is for us. For that, we should be supportive.

OP is only over the top because we are falling back on "man up" horse shit again. If a feminist wrote this and switched the genders, it would be tame and par for the course.

I have an honest point to that then, while he should be compensated, why should he be compensated any more then the amount a full time nanny would make? Alimony is the only payout where the value of your labor scales directly with how much your partner makes. Does this mean we should change how restaurants want so college kids pay 5 bucks a meal and adult professionals pay 30? Should we change the gas station to charge people based on their income? The concept is not wrong, but the implication t…

that's the point. Hell, this article makes a fantastic litmus test for a girl friend. If she reads it and thinks "that sound's reasonable" run, and run fast.

don't worry too much about SRS trolls, when I first started following this subreddit they outnumbered us, now we outnumber them two to one, and they can't even work themselves up to down vote a 50 upvote post. They already lost.

Thank you very much for a head's up. In retrospect, while in that context I see absolutely nothing wrong with a man destroying what is essentially his so that it can't be stolen by a parasite, I some what regret the post because the responses it received went to some dark places. I won't delete the post, if anything, I'm happy to have attracted the ire of the goons, I was wondering when I would earn a ban from SRS.

most people commenting are only talking about the house, not the people, only one or two implied they would like to see the people actually in it at the time.

I'm proud to take part in a community where descending to that guy's level is more the exception then the norm. 90% of the reason I started posting here regularly (besides agreeing with the facts provided here) is that this subreddit does a good job keeping it classy as a Victorian gentleman.

aww, thank you very much! I wanted to figure out a way to express how I feel about morality. For some reason I thought about an old friend of mine I haven't talked to in years who similarly struggled with his definition of moral, and always walked around in a brown trench coat during the colder months (not creepy when it's winter time in Maine, more practical). For some reason that made me think Noir style, and I ran with it. Some day I would like to write a book. Sometimes I use commenting on r…

Eh, it wasn't intended that way, although rereading it I can see how it could come off that way. I am very much against Rand, not because of her beliefs on individual rights, but because she interprets those rights to imply that certain individuals poss complete exceptional-ism above others, and so should be rewarded miles beyond their peers. Wealth is accrued in equal parts by being lucky enough to be born with the exact right tool set for the age you are born in, and lucky enough to be in the …

Ayn Rand was a spoiled brat of rich parents who lost their business due to the Russian Revolution. Interestingly, it was the very same Russian Revolution that opened colleges up to women, which allowed her to attend in the first place. Her entire political philosophy is that great (read: rich) men are responsible for all of civilized society, and that any move by the government to impede their power hurts everyone (ring any bells? Hint: GOP). Atlas shrugged is a piece of trash that spends the la…

I find them amusing. Considering the prevalency of porn (The majority of both genders consume it in some form), arguing it should be banned is like asking for alcohol prohibition again. You have a better chance of convincing people to get rid of air conditioning then trying to get them to give up porn.

This is the way it will probably stay. I'm a young man in my 20s, and my generation did not live through any of the woman's rights movement. We didn't see the sexual harassment protections put in place between 1960-1990, so we have no reference point to a time when women where not treated with dignity. We have grown up being told repeatedly women can do what men can, and we accept it was fact. As a generation, we may not entirely buy that men and women are the same, but we do believe they should…

Stick around for the party, sometimes justice is squeakily clean and beautiful to behold. Most of the time that ain't the truth. Justice is a corpse in an alley, bloated with maggots and reeking of the vices that put it there. Justice is the poetic desecration of a being's form into the twisted wreck that always lurked inside, and quietly made it's surroundings a little more grueling for the rest of us. Sure, we may decry such ugliness in public as being just plain indecent. When the moon is out…

Are you kidding me? Haven't you ever seen the movie "the bird cage"? Trust me, you can find a gay guy who sparkles enough to be the damsel in distress, and it would make for one hell of an entertaining film. As a straight guy I would definitely go see that.

I wish the internet supported voice rather then writing. I, at all times, write the way I speak, and I write stream of consciousness. Without the emphasis and character speech can imbue in a message I'm far less effective here then when I stand up and talk in the real world lol. My head is starting to spin, I'm going to sleep, have a good night! and thanks for the compliment.

Alright, I'm drunk as fuck right now, so here it goes. Thank you very much OP. Thank you everyone who posts here. You guys are, in your own way, fighting the good fight and fighting it hard. In my short time on this world I have met a father denied custody while his batshit ex and her new husband abuse his son, all because he is a man. I have watched boys become jailed for dating a girl their own age. I have watched women receive all the rights of men while retaining all the privileges that wher…

women who respond like this live in a bubble. They are sheltered suburban Mom. They are the hot chick in the office no one bothers arguing with. Men have no equal population to them. The Legion of Oprah moms only really interact with each other, and while spending all day every day patting themselves on the back that changing a diaper is harder then surgery they don't have any counter point. This results in the original circle jerk, middle aged woman's clubs. Then there are highly attractive wom…

because privilege in this debate is not a word used by rational, thinking people who want to talk about gender issues reasonably on either side of the fence. Cis privilege is a mocked rallying cry of SRS extremists. In the context used, it has no negative implications on the vast majority of the transgender community who are wonderful, kind, reasonable individuals. It specifically mocks feminatzis.
