I whole heartedly agree with you. Our freedoms are trampled on a daily basis in the name of “security” by a federal government that can’t even manage itself.

I don’t really understand why I’m being downvoted. It doesn’t make the truth go away. https://blogs.findlaw.com/blotter/2017/07/can-police-take-your-phone-if-you-video-record-or-photograph-them.html

Couldn’t tell you exactly cause the video started once it had escalated to a physical confrontation. Ideally if you see someone stealing something you verbally confront them right there with “I can see you and I can see you’re stealing. Please put it back.” I used to work LP in retail and that works a lot. Some people ran and they stole whatever they had and it was what it was. However, they left knowing we could see them and that we know what they look like. They would also tell their thieving …

Police are able to seize a number of things without a warrant. Emailing the video may suffice if they allow that. That’s why i said it may vary depending on the area. I don’t feel like anyone should have to intervene in a crime taking place. That wasn’t my point. There’s often times way to help deter an active theft without getting physically involved.

My concern with that is that if the police then deem they need that video as evidence that they’ll then just take your phone. That may vary from area to area, but generally if police come across something they deem as important evidence to a crime, they’ll just take it.

I get what you’re saying and it’s definitely not worth risking harm to yourself IMO to stop petty theft. But if you see theft and you can stop it without putting yourself in harm, I don’t see the problem with it. Sure, that company is going to survive if it ends up happening, but you don’t want your local shops to be a target for theft. Then everything is locked up and everyone gets treated like a criminal. I prefer to not be treated like a criminal so if there’s something I can do to help preve…

You’re absolutely right. However, I guess I don’t get the mindset of pulling out your phone and recording it. Like out of all the possible things you could have done to either help or stay out of the way, you pull out the phone and record it. You’re close enough to the action that you’re either in the way or could be in the way if the situation changes, yet you’re not helping anyone in the situation. I dunno.... just don’t get it.

That looks word for word like something Trump would say even though she took a shot at him in the rant. The irony is spectacular!

Because being charged doesn't mean PPD, imo. Her conviction is much more important. Also, it's common for folks to see a headline like this and think it actually went to conviction, however that hasn't happened yet. Sorry to cause you so much grief today. I'll keep it in mind moving forward.

Lol what? Of course I was repeating some of the things that I highlighted above. It was commentary about what I highlighted and the story overall.

She was charged in adult court with unlawful disclosure of intimate visual material, commonly known as revenge porn, a Class A misdemeanor in Texas. If convicted, she could face up to one year in jail. Because she's 17, we chose not to identify her. She has only been charged at this point. She hasn't been convicted of anything. She could easily still walk away with a slap on the wrist when it's all said and done.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
