Lame attempt at a troll post. Try harder next time.

In the context, Jesus is about to heal the guy. Jesus is about to display the works of God, because he himself is God.

When you reach a strength plateau. For example, if you’ve been doing 5x5 but just can’t seem to add any more weight on, start increasing the reps. 5x6 one week. 5x7 the next, so on and so forth, all the way up to 10 reps for the heavy compounds, and all the way up to 20 reps for isolation exercises. You could even one day flick back to 5x5 Strength. Periodisation is always good.

I hear you. And this is obviously a hobby horse passion of yours. But nothing in the above post/program suggests porn is exclusively a problem for men (only). I think you're points (below) about the double standard is helpful. I hadn't thought about how prevalent it is. Thanks.

As a pastor, job one is obviously to bring people to Jesus and then to see their faith mature. Agree. In my mind (and it'll be the thing I say on day 1), I'm not doing this as their "pastor." I'm doing it as an older Christian man, to younger Christian men.

Props for your humility. Being single, there's nothing stopping you from pouring some time into discipling younger, single blokes from your church.

Appreciate your honesty. If anyone asks "It's appealing to young men and the environment allows them to open up about their problems and learn about Christ." I'm going to steal that line, thanks. If these guys get themselves in some kind of shape you're going to have to deal with how to navigate increased attention from women as well as how not to just jump on the first girl that's showing some interest. To be honest some of our guys probably never talked to a girl other than their mom, then the…

Thanks natural. The one-to-one is definitely the go (or in my case, one-to-two).

Thanks heaps for the reply. I was trying to figure out how to talk about "alpha" without using that phrase. Pitching that as strong leadership is a great idea. One of the phrases that get's thrown around our church (particular when men are invited to men's breakfasts/events etc. is "if you're a bloke, you are, by definition, a leader." (at least in your own family). I think I'd better say that one a few more times.

Appreciate this. The spray bottle analogy is particularly helpful. I'll just be doing this with two blokes.

Depends on what country you are in, and what the restrictions are. If swimming pools are closed in your country, and there's no beaches/rivers/lakes nearby, ignore my suggestion.

Yeah nah. Jeff Nippard has solid science-based advice for growing muscle. That's what OP is after. Body recomp (growing muscle and loosing fat via a slight calorie deficit) is totally achievable in your first couple of years lifting, if you've got fat stores to spare.

How often do you hit the gym, and what’s your program? Does it include heavy compounds like deadlift and squat? Do all your meals include adequate animal based protein and also fats? (Fats are vital for hormone production). Are you eating at least 4-5 eggs per day? Are you eating plenty of cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts or kale)? (Pro tip: they all taste like cr*p so mix them with your eggs or your meat). An otherwise balanced diet? Do you drink enough water? Min…

What books from the sidebar have you read? What’s your current lifting routine?

I’ve given you an upvote (and a bunch on your other posts/comments), on the premise that you’ll begin your post with your stats/lifts and which books from the side bar you’ve read. Otherwise your askTRP post is pointless.

Lift heavier - especially compound movements like deadlift. Eat better - more oysters (zinc) and more animal protein/fat. You also want magnesium and vitamin d (sardines are great). Sleep better - minimum 8hrs of quality sleep. Drink more water.

At least 1-2 hours before gym eat carbs and protein (eg rice and chicken/fish). This will fuel your workout. Wear loose/comfy clothes, such as a singlet and running shorts. No need for running shoes, but anything closed, comfy and flat-soled will do. Wear deodorant. It’s just polite. To gym bring: - a water bottle (but just sip it, don’t drink too much during workout) - a towel - a smart phone with the app “StrongLifts 5x5” downloaded After the gym have more protein and carbs (no rush though). A…

Sweeteners are fine. That they “cause cancer” is a myth. They may affect some people (acne etc), just listen to your body. If you’re worried, just use 100% unflavoured Whey and flavour it yourself (eg cinnamon) Whey protein is fine as a “supplement” to your diet, which should already be high in protein. Again, lactose may affect some people differently (bloating, acne etc), in which case just use other protein powders (eg. egg).

This. Best summary you will get, seeing as you are too lazy to read the sidebar (and also too lazy to go the the gym or eat right, mr “calisthenics” and “almost a 6 pack”)

Haven’t read it, and probably never will (don’t want to waste time on a book that’s essentially click bait). Here’s a good review/critique of the book: https://ap.org.au/2020/06/29/birds-of-prey/ He particularly points out how badly Byrd handles Scripture, and how she misrepresents Grudem/Piper.

Is this because women don't care so much about the body? You haven't read the sidebar.

Grow a beard to hide your ugly face. Pay for very expensive haircut, then take photos so you can show reasonably-priced barbers what you want. Lift like a beast, until you’re as huge as you can be for your height, at a low body fat percentage.

Thanks for the reply. Just a note that I love pretty much everything you write, and really appreciate it. With that being said, Reformed theology/Calvinism definitely affirms compatibilism. It's the hyper-calvinists (that we're just robots), and the arminians who can't get their head around two things being true at once (= that God ordains everything, yet we make real choices) To those who deny compatibilism (the idea that two seemingly-contradictory things can be true at once) I'd say: we glady…

Compatibalism = Reformed. It’s just a better word to explain divine sovereignty and human responsibility

If you’re new to the gym,Strong Lifts 5x5 is a good place to start. It’s 3 days a week. If you want to go more often, Push Pull Legs is also quite popular these days. But pretty much any program involving the main compound movements will be most beneficial.
