False accusations are overwhelmingly targeted at men in a system that all but sanctions it. A woman's word tends to holds more weight in the legal system than a man's.

A woman made a rape allegation against her ex, but it was proven to be false by a WhatsApp message she sent where she threatened to get revenge. After seeing this, it took the police another two months just to tell the accused that they knew he was innocent, so he basically spent all that time thinking he could get locked up for a crime he didn't commit.
