Why does data on the rate of rape convictions provide any credence to either side of the debate? Unless you use it as a weak example of an outlier to show failings within the judicial system, any number is meaningless. A higher conviction rate does not necessarily correspond to a better judicial system, as your comment seems to suggest.

I agree with this comment. Societal norms and expectations aren't great, but ultimately the decision is made between the two involved parties; namely you and your wife.
