“I can’t be violent and use my full strength towards someone who is physically weaker than me without there being consequences to my actions so I’m oppressed.” Should we get a massive body builder to push a 13 year old version of you and see how much you like it? And she was a CHILD. How did the OP commenter think she’d react?

She wouldn’t have realised how rough the boys were going to be. At that age it seems like a lot of boys don’t know their own strength when playing with girls.

Wait, let me get this straight. You think you’re oppressed because when you were 13, you pushed over another child (one who was presumably psychically weaker and smaller than you), and then you faced the consequences for your actions? Oh no, that must have been so hard for you.

Yes, some women in extreme poverty can’t afford period products. Some of them have to choose between period products or food.

Tampons aren’t free though. They’re just no longer being taxed as a luxury item, since they’re not a luxury. They’re pretty essential unless you want women bleeding all over everything.

I agree that welfare payments should be increased, along with minimum wage so that everyone gets a living wage, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon in the U.K. I think that free period products is a good short term solution until we get better welfare payments and better wages though. And I don’t know exactly how taxes work where you live, but surely although you’re paying more in taxes, you’re still earning more than a lot of women are even after taxes?

Sometimes a social welfare programme doesn’t give enough money to somebody who is truly in need though. This goes for men too but for both of them, there are the essentials that both genders need such as food, but then with women you’ve also got to factor in the costs of period supplies, plus usually painkillers too, which absolutely are necessary during some women’s periods, whereas men don’t have to factor in those extra costs. So there are actually women who cannot afford both and who have to…

I disagree but I can see your reasoning at least. What do you think about taxing period products though? I don’t know about other places but I know that at least in all of Europe, with the exception of Ireland, they’re not classed as essential products so they’re taxed, which I see as incredibly unfair. Unless they want women to walk around just bleeding freely over everything, they absolutely are essential.

England has free condoms in certain places too, like schools, colleges, universities, and sexual health clinics but yeah, Scotland does actually have some advantages.

Ok, I’m just saying that’s how taxes work. If you earn more then you pay more. And to be fair, if women aren’t earning as much as men are but are having to pay for extra products like period products (which are actually taxed, by the way) then of course some people aren’t going to be able to afford them. This isn’t a problem that can just be simplified by blaming everything on women not wanting enough. You’ve rolled a lot of different problems into one comment. Working conditions should be bette…

Men tend to pay higher taxes because they earn higher wages, which is fair enough to me. And yes, something needs to be done about homelessness, but that’s a much harder and more expensive issue to fix.

It’s not like they’re giving out free period products in shops. They’re just free in certain places like public toilets and schools, so that anyone who is unable to afford them still has access to them. It’s no different than toilet paper being free in public toilets. Also there are food banks for people who can’t afford food. It’s the same sort of thing.

Condoms are free in Scotland in a lot of places. Also this doesn’t mean no women will ever pay for period products again. They’re just free in certain places like public toilets and schools, just like toilet paper is also free in those places.

A lot of places do provide free condoms in Scotland

No, you don’t seem to be sexist based on your post, and I appreciate how you’re actually listening to me. I just meant that a lot of other people’s views on here are sexist, like viewing every single woman as a whore but also just using them for sex. I get that you’ve had bad experiences in the past, but I think a lot of women would be understanding of that.

You seem like one of the only people on here who isn’t insane and really sexist, so maybe you’ll actually listen to me. There’s always going to be shitty women. There’s shitty men too. But that doesn’t mean you should completely avoid all women and hate them all. Everyone else is comparing women to sweets or other food and saying that at least a couple in every handful of sweets will be laced with cyanide. Um...no. Maybe a few in each handful will have unrealistically high expectations for men a…

I disagree. The date isn’t about where you guys go, it’s about spending time with each other and getting to know each other better. If one or both of you like the beach, or walking, or just want to stay home and Netflix and chill, that’s fine. Dates don’t always have to be super expensive and extravagant.

Yeah, I can see that now. Thanks for the warning. I’ll stop.

I’M not putting in the effort? Nah, on that sub it’s the women who don’t put in any effort. I’m female myself and I put in more effort to relationships than any of those women do.

No, it’s sexist to make the man pay for every single date and to expect him to do everything for you while you, as the woman, have to do nothing except look pretty. Two people in a relationship should be equals, and they should be putting in the same amount of effort. It seems like everyone on that sub wants the man to put in all the effort while the woman does nothing.

But on that sub, the women’s’ standards are ridiculously high. Like the men have to be super rich, have to pay for everything, have to treat the women like they are superior to men and not just equals, and they have to be ok with being treated like shit by the women. Yeah, cute.

Agreed! I stumbled across that shithole of a sub yesterday and was so appalled by how much they all hate all men and how the women think they’re entitled to everything.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
