Leading cause of divorce for men is spousal drug use. It makes life impossible.

You're also dealing with the death of the "Safe-World" illusion. Not only did your life and purpose get derailed, but you now have a fundamentally different perception of the entire thing. This has drastic downstream effects in every element of life. So even if the boxes are being checked, things don't hit the same. The next relationship you're keeping at arms length? That's because you know what can (and does) happen. The sad reality for a LOT of men is: We put a lot of our meaning and purpose …

The FOMO hits them differently. It's deep, emotional and existential. "Why not me" "Time is running out" etc. It's effectively a massive accelerant to baseline hypergamy that overrides waking life and logic.

Lived experience here in the states: Women seem to bounce around jobs with ease, but a guy getting into a corporate situation or getting a promotion seems like a massive deal thats the culmination of years. You just don't hear about it often. I am friends with a woman who's been hired and fired by 3 positions in the last two years. She just gets told "yes" virtually every time she puts herself out there.

It's hard for guys to imagine, but most women are genuinely never held accountable for anything their entire lives. As a result, there's no skillset to deal.

Meanwhile, in reality: Cheating in a marriage is sexual and emotional abuse.

The answer, sadly, is in the statistics. Good luck to everyone though, and good post.

It's good advice, but there's another side to this: Fatigue. It's rational to want a relationship to be mutually supportive and easy. Especially if you're dealing with a high stress career or from a conflict heavy family past. The notion of constant frame and vigilant boundaries works for a while, but... For life? Forever? Do they ever stop? Slow down? Relent? Grow? Mature? From lived and observed experience? Not likely. You have to be the shit, forever. And even then resentment can fester. It's…

Surprised to see so many "Damn 3x divorce is a bad look dude" comments. The reality? Divorce IS the outcome of marriage now. At this point, there's too much direct lived and observed experience across all income brackets and walks of life to ignore. I think if you're young and want kids, go ahead and give it a shot. But at a certain point you've got to take off the rose colored glasses and realize the legal institution of marriage is a broken machine that creates poor lifestyle outcomes, mostly …

You'd be shocked how little there is you can do. If you're the higher earning spouse and reside in the wrong state, it's a wrap before you even enter a courtroom.

The warbride effect. They move on quick, and 36-40 is her last prime window to secure something desirable. She's in business, not love.

It's also the fact that any level of pushback, skepticism or accountability for women at virtually any level of our society is immediately labeled as misogyny. There's virtually no accepted pathways to address women critically.

Having and keeping any boundaries: "Narcissistic" Having hobbies you do only for fun: "Man child" Not wanting legal marriage or financial entanglement: "Peter Pan" Not wasting money on 15 dollar cocktails: "Brokie" Rinse and repeat.

All of my social circle have had their lives detonated by women in their mid to late 30s. it's anecdotal, but practical. The net result is a group of solid guys (college, good income, family oriented, mature, in shape) who are just burned out from abuse. They're not really even dating much. You have a bit of fun when the opportunity is there, but any serious thought of future family formation or commitment are now weighed against the lived experience of being absolutely gutted and left for dead …

Pearl is not it. She’s got a comfortable position of sniping at female hypocrisy and comical hypergamy, but can’t really lead on these issues. To be fair, Anna is a ridiculous and discredited commentator at this point. She’s been wrong way way way too many times on key moments of history

There’s way more money on the right wind media ecosystem. There was a massive push in the Obama era to build up mechanisms to reach younger voters for conversion messaging. YouTube, new media, etc. Young Turks is an exception in the sense of being a highly funded venture-cap media project. The right has done a much better job finding ways to incentivize young creators.

Well said. US society needs an infusion of socially liberal policy, and we need to be rethinking huge aspects of our economy to stay competitive. Unfortunately the marketing department for all of that is the Democratic party. And... It hasn't been going well.

Bingo. It would be all therapy language and understanding. "I also have trauma about oral, can confirm!" etc. The guys issues aside, the replies are insane.

The psychological gap between genders at younger ages cannot be overstated. 18 year old boy? Sign up for the draft, and prepare to eat shit for however long it takes to fight to establish yourself. You go from a somewhat valued class (child/student/minor) to absolute zero value beyond cannon fodder. 18 year old girl? Welcome to the party! The biggest challenge is keeping your head clear enough to avoid exploitation. Opportunities are endless.

Lower income partner is eligible for favorable asset division and spousal support, even in cases with prenuptial agreements. Skill atrophy, accustomed lifestyle, equitable conditions for children between both households etc. The provider can be legally compelled to continue providing, while the non-working partner is freed from the marriage contract without obligation.

As a business owner? Yup, we were. But, in fairness, I'll set that aside. Here and now? I can go the rest of my life and not hear about tariffs again and be just fine. I'd also love for POTUS to cool it with insider trade bait and market manipulation.

I would argue that having a spouse/partner earn the same or more is crucial in long term stability. Any "tRaDiTiOnAl" roles that involve stay-at-home partners lead to incentivized divorce.

Trump fucked with money way too much. It's always about him him him. This country needs boring government again so we can get on with business.

The first time I've heard this articulated from somebody else. I have left wing politics, and I'm beyond fatigued with with the culture warriors in the tent. It's well past time to de-center this junk and push a healthy economic agenda.

I've just seen/experienced/heard too much in lived experience with women being unguarded about this stuff. The extreme sounding examples of "he cried when his dog died now I'm not attracted to him" sound insane, right up until you hear things just like that drunkenly confessed and laughed about. Or even sober, if they feel the audience is right for it.

"The men getting cozy and lazy, the women picking up the slack." I see men in my social group who are exhausted and burning the candle at both ends to support families and the black hole of "travel is my hobby" spouses glued to social media.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/03/25 05:49 PM

The “women are choosing who they marry” point isn’t clear cut. In lived experience, there’s a lot of women desperate to finally put all the pieces together with the right guy and secure commitment. It’s easy to date, harder to survive an LTR and very tricky to lock down the dream guy. I would argue that women are choosing men, but men are gatekeeping commitment. Then everyone turns 35 and it’s a race to the bottom.

Huge respect for being real here. Absolute truth, like it or not. Even better, the lingering effect the bad-boy experience will inevitably have on future relationships. Bored? Remember him? Etc. It's an uncomfortable reality.

The cringe PUA cold-approach theatrics are vastly different than "Hey I thought you looked cute/interesting/cool and wanted to meet you" You could say both are "game" related, but it's a huge distinction.
