Plus, if you know they are literally going to come kill you I imagine the police would already be involved. The police aren’t going to post up outside of your home and protect you 24/7 while you wait for your waiting period to expire. They’re going to say “if he comes by, call us”. If he comes by at 2am with his gun and the police are anywhere from 5-20 minutes away, you may as well be dead.

Your sentiment is easily demonstrated by what happened during the LA riots in 1992. Firearm waiting periods in CA at the time were 5-10 days I believe. As soon as the riots broke out, business owners rushed to the gun stores wanting to purchase hardware to defend themselves and their businesses. Only problem was that they couldn’t take possession of said firearms for days, which rendered them useless at a time of necessity.

The most disadvantaged group in America as of 2019 is poor, straight, white men, by far.
