It's not foolproof but you could do worse than watch comedians when they interact with the crowd. I love Dara Ó'Briain (he's Irish, same as myself). He's so good with the crowds and can turn almost all of the crowd interactions into hilarious stories. But really any comedian who can do well with the crowd, who is quick with their replies and doesn't just rely on the crowd member being funny or just repeating what they say. Do you have any examples of the excessive double standards? Not saying they don't exist but it's hard to offer solutions or advice when the problem remains vague and undefined.

If you're just looking for something casual then I would say a bio is barely even a factor. But I fully agree with you that a good bio is still helpful. I also agree that short and sweet is usually the way to go (unless you're looking for something serious in which case I would include more).
