Sorry I should have written it out. IR stands for Interracial. I’m white along with three other siblings. My mom divorced, got remarried, and had my two other siblings who are both half black/white. The man who raised me since I was a toddler is black and I considered him my real father. He has always been there and I would do anything for that man. Growing up we dealt with a ton of vile crap from a lot of people. We all grew strong from it and it brought us all closer.

Not a day passes that I don’t think about I miss my kids. I’m back in contact with my oldest now that she has matured, but my youngest is still lost me. I will always respect their boundaries and wishes. So for now I feel incomplete. Unfortunately that’s just life.

Well the marriage definitely did not start out that way. I grew up in an IR family so I was accustomed to seeing crap coming from all sides. So, when her family weren’t thrilled about us but I dealt with it. In time, those comments started coming out and then eventually the kids were exposed to it. Ironically the marriage ended when I discovered her cheating on me with…drum roll…..an “evil white man”. We had joint custody of the kids but due to my job I traveled a lot so she had primary custody.…

My ex-wife was like this except she would said, “I hate white men.” I would remind her she is married to a “white man” and her reply would always be “you don’t count, you’re different.” I would ask how so and she would say you just are. Needless to say her outlook on life didn’t help our marriage to last. It also did not help with the upbringing of our two children who were also half white. Fun times.
